Optical Coherence Tomography of the Airway for Lung Cancer or Lung Disease
Lung CancerMalignant Mesothelioma3 moreRATIONALE: Diagnostic procedures, such as optical coherence tomography, may help find and diagnose lung cancer or precancerous cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying how well optical coherence tomography of the airway works in detecting abnormal cells in patients undergoing surgery for lung cancer or lung disease.
Cyclooxygenase-2 Expression in Tissue Samples From Patients With a Normal Cervix, Cervical Intraepithelial...
Cervical CancerPrecancerous ConditionRATIONALE: Studying samples of tissue from patients with or without cancer in the laboratory may help doctors identify and learn more about biomarkers related to cancer. PURPOSE: This laboratory study is looking at cyclooxygenase-2 expression in tissue samples from patients with a normal cervix, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, or early invasive cervical cancer.
Digital Colposcopy in Finding Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia in Patients With An Abnormal Pap...
Cervical CancerPrecancerous ConditionRATIONALE: Diagnostic procedures, such as digital colposcopy, may help doctors find and diagnose cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying digital colposcopy to see how well it works in finding cervical intraepithelial neoplasia in patients with an abnormal Pap smear.
Early Diagnosis of Pulmonary Nodules
Precancerous ConditionsCarcinomaThis study is intended to determine the positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) of the multiprotein classifier based on the observed study prevalence of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) in the study participants.
Umbilical Cord Blood Stem Cell Transplant in Treating Patients With Hematologic Cancer or Other...
LeukemiaLymphoma4 moreRATIONALE: Giving low doses of chemotherapy and total-body irradiation before a donor umbilical cord blood stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer or abnormal cells. It also stops the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. The donated stem cells may replace the patient's immune cells and help destroy any remaining cancer or abnormal cells (graft-versus-tumor effect). Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can also make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving tacrolimus and mycophenolate mofetil before the transplant may stop this from happening. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well umbilical cord blood stem cell transplant works in treating patients with hematologic cancer or other disease.
High-risk Breast Lesions: A Multicenter Retrospective Study
Premalignant LesionIn this multicenter study, the goal was to document the excisional biopsy or follow-up results of high risk lesions diagnosed on image guided CNB/VAB, and evaluate the clinical, imaging and histologic features for associated malignancy risk. The possibility of upgrade related to histologic subtype, tissue sampling and other variables was also evaluated.
Incidence of Malignant and Premalignant Endometrial Polyp in Asymptomatic and Symptomatic Postmenopausal...
Endometrial Polyp.Malignant and Pre-malignant Changes in the PolypThe prevalence of endometrial polyp is 24% in the general population but is much higher in postmenopausal women. The incidence of malignant or pre-malignant findings in endometrial polyps ranges from 2 to 10% in menopausal women. Removal of endometrial polyps in postmenopausal symptomatic women is the standard of care, same goes for asymptomatic women with risk factors for endometrial malignancy, however treatment of asymptomatic postmenopausal women with endometrial polyp but no risk factors is disputable. In light of ambiguity in literature regarding the rate of malignant and pre-malignant findings in polyps in asymptomatic post-menopausal women, the investigators are asking to conduct a prospective study in order to evaluate and compare the incidence of malignant and pre-malignant changes in symptomatic and asymptomatic postmenopausal women with endometrial polyp
Emergency Use of Adoptive Immunotherapy With CMV-Specific T Cells After Donor Bone Marrow Transplant...
InfectionPrecancerous/Nonmalignant ConditionRATIONALE: Collecting the T cells from a donor and transplanting them into a patient may be effective treatment for immunodeficiency syndrome and CMV infection. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying the emergency use of adoptive immunotherapy with CMV-specific T cells after donor bone marrow transplant of an infant with immunodeficiency syndrome and CMV infection.
The Breast Duct: Pilot Study of Genomic Sequencing of Exfoliated Ductal Cells Obtained Through Endoscopy...
Breast CancerPreneoplastic Conditions1 moreThe objective of this study is to determine whether we can use minimally invasive techniques to gain access to exfoliated ductal epithelial cells for whole genome sequencing. To examine women with nipple aspiration, ductoscopy and ductal lavage and collect exfoliated cells from two ducts per woman. To collect a blood sample at the time of the examination in order to obtain the woman's baseline genomic sequence. De-identified samples will then have DNA and RNA extracted and whole genome sequencing and transcriptome analysis performed by Covance and Illumina. Comparisons will be made within a breast (two ducts) and between the duct and blood as well as between women.
Identification of a Plasma Proteomic Signature for Lung Cancer
Precancerous ConditionsCarcinomaThe primary objective is to identify a panel of plasma and/or serum proteins that differentiates the absence or presence of lung malignancy in samples obtained from subjects enrolled in this IRB/EC approved study with pulmonary nodules.
