Treatment of Cholestatic Pruritus With Sertraline
PruritusLiver Cirrhosis2 moreThe goal of this study is to find an effective and well-tolerated medical therapy for itching due to liver disease. Persons with primary biliary cirrhosis or chronic hepatitis C are currently being enrolled in the study. Persons participating in the study are given sertraline, a medication which is also often used for depression,to treat their itching. The dose is gradually increased as the effect on itching and any other potential side effects are carefully monitored.
Phase III Randomized Study of Ursodiol With Vs Without Methotrexate for Primary Biliary Cirrhosis...
Liver CirrhosisBiliaryOBJECTIVES: I. Compare the effects of ursodiol (ursodeoxycholic acid), with and without methotrexate, on pruritus, incapacitation index, and serum markers of activity and severity in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis. II. Compare the effects of these regimens on the development of ascites, encephalopathy, varices (or bleeding from pre-existing varices), histologic liver changes, transplantation, and survival. III. Compare the toxicity and safety of each regimen.
Clinical Trial on the Effect of the Sublimated Mare Milk Supplement on Primary Biliary Cholangitis...
Primary Biliary CirrhosisThis study evaluates the effect of sublimated mare milk supplement on patients with biliary cholangitis
Seladelpar (MBX-8025) in Subjects With Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC)
Primary Biliary CirrhosisAn 8-week, dose ranging, open label, randomized, Phase 2 study with a 44-week extension, to evaluate the safety and efficacy of MBX-8025 in subjects with Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC) and an inadequate response to or intolerance to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA)
Physical Therapy for Liver Cirrhosis
Liver CirrhosisBiliaryPatients with liver cirrhosis have severe physical deconditioning. Aim: To compare between the effect of neuromuscular electric stimulation(NMES) and exercises (EX)on treatment of patients with liver cirrhosis.
Mind-body Wellness Intervention in Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC)
Primary Biliary CirrhosisThe investigators have designed a guided, online, multicomponent, mind-body intervention for participants with primary biliary cholangitis. The ability of the online intervention to impact the primary and secondary outcome measures will be assessed as compared to control.
Low-Dose Oral Methotrexate Versus Colchicine for Primary Biliary Cirrhosis
Liver CirrhosisBiliaryOBJECTIVES: I. Compare the efficacy of low-dose oral pulse methotrexate (MTX) and ursodiol versus colchicine and ursodiol in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC). II. Determine the optimum dose and duration of MTX treatment. III. Investigate the role of fibrogenic cytokines (FC) in PBC pathogenesis and the effect of treatment on FC production.
Study of Combivir for Patients With Primary Biliary Cirrhosis
Primary Biliary CirrhosisThis is a proof of principal study to determine whether combination anti-viral therapy with Combivir impacts on hepatic biochemistry in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis
Safety and Efficacy of Long-Term Treatment With Atorvastatin in Patients With Primary Biliary Cirrhosis...
Primary Biliary CirrhosisHypercholesterolemiaPrimary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is frequently associated with hypercholesterolemia and possibly with an increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Statins lower serum cholesterol levels and may thus improve the cardiovascular risk in PBC patients. The aim of our study therefore was to prospectively examine the efficacy of low-dose atorvastatin on indicators of cardiovascular risk such as dyslipidemia and vascular function as well as safety in patients with PBC.
Initial Study of Rituximab to Treat Primary Biliary Cirrhosis
Primary Biliary CirrhosisThe purpose of this study is to determine the safety of the anti-CD20 antibody rituximab in treating patients with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC). Rituximab is a laboratory-made antibody currently used to treat some kinds of lymphoma. Rituximab may also help people with PBC, a disease of the immune system. However, the safety of rituximab in PBC patients must first be established.
