TG Gene Mutations and Congenital Hypothyroidism

Congenital Hypothyroidism

The aim of this study was to identify mutations in the thyroglobulin gene that might be present in patients with fetal goiter and congenital goiter hypothyroidism.

The Yield of Postnatal Thyroid Function Test in the Well Baby Nursery

Hypothyroidism

Thyroid function test are performed in the well baby nursery to newborn infants of mothers with hypothyroidism, or as part of neonatal jaundice investigation. As thyroid function test are also part of the national screening test program, the investigators raised the option that the above management is unnecessary, and managed a study to investigate it.

Quality of Life After Interventional Thyroid Treatment

Thyroid; DeficiencyQuality of Life

In this study, patients are prospectively followed after radioiodine treatment to assess the relationship between thyroid status and their quality of life after thyroid ablative treatment. A third treatment arm after surgery has been stopped, as deemed currently not feasible to achieve its target.

Central Hypothyroidism and Cardiovascular Risk

Hypopituitarism

Retrospective trial of 300 patients with pituitary insufficiency treated in Department of Medica Endocrinology, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen University concerning levothyroxine (T4) replacement and cardiovascular risk factors. The hypothesis is that subtle central hypothyroidism is associated with adverse cardiac risk factors, such as body composition and serum lipids, and that improved T4 replacement will eliminate this increased risk, independently of other pituitary hormone replacements.

Maternal Autoimmune Thyroid Disease and Fetal Thyroxin

Pregnancy Complicated by HyperthyroidismHypothyroidism in Pregnancy

The purpose of this trial is to correlate fetal thyroid hormones from fetal cord blood with clinical (maternal antithyroid drug dose and antithyroid antibodies) and ultrasound (US) parameters of fetal thyroid function from pregnant mothers with autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD).

Observational Study With Prospective and/or Retrospective Follow-up, Without Modifying Patient Treatment...

Hypothyroidism

This observational survey with prospective and/or retrospective follow-up is designed to study practices for the initial treatment of hypothyroidism in France without modifying subject treatment.

NeoThyr - the Role of Mitochondria-dysfunction in Newborns of Mothers With Autoimmune Thyroid Disease...

Subclinical HypothyroidismAutoimmune Thyroid Disease1 more

Previously, studies have shown that children of women with thyroid autoantibodies experience more birth complications and poorer health in their first days. Studies have also shown later signs of cognitive developmental challenges (risk of attention deficit/hyperactivity problems) among children of mothers with autoimmune thyroid disease and/or subclinical hypothyroidism. In Denmark there is no formalized screening or treatment of subclinical thyroid disease - with or without Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO-antibodies) - among pregnant women. The hypothesis of this study is that the offspring of women with subclinical thyroid disease have a mitochondria-dysfunction which leads to more complications during birth, poorer health and well-being in the early childhood. The investigators will test this by recruiting mothers by a blood sample in the third trimester of pregnancy, screen the cord blood at birth and later on test the children with Bayley test two times in the early childhood.

Post-radiation Hypothyroidism After IMRT for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

HypothyroidismComplications

The investigators evaluate if there are radiation dosimetric parameters for the prediction of biochemical and clinical hypothyroidism after intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for non-metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).

Metabolomics of Thyroid Hormones

Central HypothyroidismHypothyroidism1 more

The aim of this study is to develop a metabolome signature of thyroid hormone status. The metabolome signature could be useful in diagnosis and treatment of thyroid dysfunction diseases, especially in cases where TSH cannot be reliably used.

Higher Levothyroxine Requirements After Right-side Hemithyroidectomy

HemithyroidectomyHypothyroidism

459 adult patients who received a hemithyroidectomy at the Department of General Surgery, Division of Endocrine Surgery and a follow-up visit (3-12 months post-surgery) at the thyroid outpatient clinic of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Medical University of Vienna between 1994 and 2018 were identified and investigated in this retrospective study. The aim of this study was to investigate whether patients post right side hemithyroidectomy require a higher mean levothyroxine dosage than patients after left lobe hemithyroidectomy as the right thyroid lobe is bigger than the left lobe. Further, we aimed at developing a better post-surgery thyroid dosage prediction model.
