Effects of Physical Therapy on Gait Parameters in Patients With Parkinson Disease
Parkinson DiseaseParkinson disease is a progressive neurologic disorder characterized by motor impairments which alter the walking capacity, and lead to reduced walking speed, decreased stride length and increased double support time. Physical therapy interventions are an important part of the non-pharmacological treatment for Parkinson disease. The purpose of this study is to assess whether there is a different outcome regarding improvement of gait parameters, when applying a physical therapy program in an individual or in a group manner. The study setting is the Clinical Rehabilitation Hospital in Cluj-Napoca, Cluj county, Romania. Patients will be randomly divided into 2 groups, and were prescribed either individual (1 patient and 1 physical therapist) or group physical therapy (6 patients and 1 physical therapist). Treatment protocol includes 10 sessions of physical therapy, in the same room setting and performed the same routine of exercises, except for the 3 breaks during the sessions in the group therapy for informal socialization. Walking speed will be measured by two validated instruments, the 6-minute walk test and the 10-meter walk test, before and after treatment.
High Versus Low Frequency rTMS on Motor Dysfunction in PD
Parkinson DiseaseThe aim of the study is to compare high versus low frequency rTMS on motor dysfunction in PD. Forty patients with PD participated in the study. The patients were randomly assigned into two groups; the first group received 1Hz and the 2nd one received 20 Hz rTMS daily for 10 days 5 sessions every week. The doctors who assess the patients clinically is blind for the frequency of rTMS, also patients don't know which type of stimulation they received. The patients were followed up before and after the 10 sessions and one month later.
Cognitive Rehab for Parkinson's
Parkinson's DiseaseMild Cognitive ImpairmentThis study will examine the feasibility of an at-home cognitive training program that incorporates both memory training and online computerized cognitive training (CCT) software. Data will also be collected to determine if this program improves thinking and memory as well as everyday function. The hypothesis is that memory and cognitive training combined , compared to memory training alone or will lead to greater improvements in cognitive performance and daily function.
Effects of Exenatide on Motor Function and the Brain
Parkinson's DiseaseThe purpose of this research study is to investigate how the brain and motor behavior changes Parkinson's Disease (PD) over time in response to Exenatide. In previous clinical trials, PD patients have experienced symptomatic improvement on Exenatide and literature suggests it may help slow the progression of Parkinson's. Both will be evaluated in this study.
Microbiota Modification for the Treatment of Motor Complication of Parkinson´s Disease

Among 80 patients with PD, we selected 14 with LID and motor fluctuations with limited response to pharmacological therapy to receive treatment with sodium phosphate enema, oral rifaximin and polyethylene glycol to improve motor complications.
The Effectiveness of Telerehabilitation in Improving Upper Extremity in Parkinson's Patients
Parkinson DiseaseParkinson's Disease (PD) is a disease that affects the functional skills of the upper extremity with clinical findings such as bradykinesia, rigidity, and hypokinesia and causes limitations in the daily life activities of the patients. Task-oriented training (TOT) is a highly individualized, client-centered, occupational therapy, functional-based intervention compatible with motor learning and motor control principles such as intensive motor training, variable practice, and intermittent feedback. Few studies have been found on the TOT of the upper extremity in PD. Telerehabilitation of Parkinson's patients shows many strengths, such as cost-related and time-dependent ease, and the possibility of telecommunication with clinicians. In addition, the refinement of digital health solutions with the goal to offer a patient-tailored intervention remains an ongoing process. There are a limited number of studies on TOT and telerehabilitation of the upper extremity in PD. In addition, no studies have been found applying TOT through telerehabilitation. For this purpose, a study including TOT-based telerehabilitation in upper extremity education in PD was planned.
The Effect of Donepezil on Gait and Balance in Parkinson's Disease
Parkinson's DiseaseThis study involves Parkinson's disease (PD). Symptoms include slow movement, tremor, and muscle rigidity. Current medications for the treatment of PD do not improve gait and balance difficulties in individuals with PD. Donepezil (study drug) has been found to reduce falls in individuals with PD. The mechanism in which this reduction of falls occurs is unclear. The investigators study will look at what aspects of gait and balance are improved by the study drug. The study drug is not approved to treat PD in the United States or other countries because we do not know enough about it.
