A Pilot Trial of Lithium in Subjects With Progressive Supranuclear Palsy or Corticobasal Degeneration...
Progressive Supranuclear PalsyCorticobasal DegenerationThe goal of this trial is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of lithium in people with progressive supranuclear palsy or corticobasal degeneration.
Effects of Coenzyme Q10 in PSP and CBD
Progressive Supranuclear PalsyNeurological DisordersTo compare the efficacy, safety and tolerability of Coenzyme Q 10 versus placebo in patients with atypical parkinsonian syndromes corticobasal degeneration (CBD) and progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) ).
More Than a Movement Disorder: Applying Palliative Care to Parkinson's Disease
Parkinson DiseaseParkinsonism10 moreThis is a two-center (University of Colorado, University of California San Francisco) community-based comparative effectiveness study of outpatient palliative care for Parkinson's disease (PD) and related disorders (progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), multiple systems atrophy (MSA), Lewy Body Dementia (LBD). In September 2018, the study was amended to also include Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related disorders (Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), Vascular Dementia). It will utilize a randomized stepped-wedge design to compare patient and caregiver outcomes between usual care in the community versus usual care augmented by palliative training and telemedicine support to provide other resources (e.g. social work).
Gait Analysis in Neurological Disease
Parkinson's DiseaseParkinsonian Disorders7 moreThe purpose of this study is to investigate whether speed-dependent measures of gait can be identified in patients with neurological conditions that affect gait, particularly in subjects with parkinsonian disorders.
A Study to Evaluate the Diagnostic Efficacy of DaTSCAN™ Ioflupane (123I) Injection in Single Photon...
Parkinsonian SyndromeParkinson Disease(PD)3 moreThis is a multicenter, open-label, non-controlled, non-randomized, phase 3 clinical study to compare the SPECT findings after a single IV administration of DaTSCAN™ ioflupane (123I) injection for patients with a clinical diagnosis of Parkinsonian syndrome (PS) involving striatal dopaminergic deficit (SDD; specifically, Parkinson's disease [PD] [SDD], multiple system atrophy [MSA] [SDD] or or progressive supranuclear palsy [PSP] [SDD]) as compared with patients with a clinical diagnosis of essential tremor (ET) (no SDD) and age-matched healthy controls.
18F-PM-PBB3 PET Study in Tauopathy Including Alzheimer's Disease, Other Dementias and Normal Controls...
Alzheimer's DiseaseCortical Basal Syndrome3 moreThis is an open-label study to evaluate the performance of a novel tau imaging ligand in up to 36 subjects (12 AD, 3 FTD, 3 PSP, 3 CBS, 3 VCI and 12 HV). Subjects will be recruited from the patient population and healthy volunteers of Taiwan residents. This study protocol requires each subject to complete the following components: screening evaluation, brain MRI and 18F-PM-PBB3 PET imaging up to two sessions. The screening procedures will include neuropsychological assessments, vital signs, ECG, physical examinations and laboratory tests. In addition, 18F-AV-45 PET imaging result will be as a part of inclusion criteria to confirm presence of amyloid deposition in patients with clinically diagnosed probable AD or absence of amyloid deposition in FTD, VCI and HV subjects. Furthermore, 18F-AV-133 PET imaging data will also be as a part of inclusion criteria to confirm the diagnosis of PSP and CBS. All subjects will complete clinical assessments and clinical safety tests to ensure the subject is medically stable to complete the study protocol. The screening procedures will occur within 30 days prior to 18F-PMPBB3 PET imaging.
Safety and Efficacy of Droxidopa for Fatigue in Patients With Parkinsonism
Parkinson DiseaseMultiple System Atrophy1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of Droxidopa for the treatment of fatigue in patients with Parkinsonism by the Visual Analog Fatigue Scale (VAFS). This is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical trial for 3 months where half the subjects will receive placebo and the other half will receive Droxidopa. Following this will be a wash-out period of 7 days and then all subjects will receive Droxidopa for 3 months during the open-label phase.
Deep TMS for the Treatment of Patients With Parkinson's Disease and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy...
Progressive Supranuclear PalsyParkinson's DiseaseBackground: Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is a rare neuro-degenerative disease, counted among atypical parkinsonism (AP). Medical treatment and rehabilitation are extremely limited in AP, therefore it would be very useful to find new ways to improve motor and non motor symptoms in PSP. The Brainway Deep Transcranial magnetic stimulation (DTMS) is a new technology of TMS using a particular coil, i.e. H-coil, able to stimulate deeper regions of the brain. Only few studies in literature have evaluated the efficacy of DTMS in Parkinson's Disease and parkinsonism; in particular in PSP patients, a case report showed an improvement in language.

Progressive Supranuclear PalsyThe purpose of the study is to assess the safety and tolerability of UCB0107 in study participants with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Phase 1 Test-retest Evaluation of [18F]MNI-958 PET
Healthy VolunteersAlzheimer Disease1 moreThe overall goal of this protocol is to evaluate [18F]MNI-958 also known as APN-0000455 or PM-PBB3, a tau targeted radiopharmaceutical.
