The goal of this study is to develop an intervention to teach activation skills to Latino parents who bring children for mental health services.

The study evaluates the effectiveness of the social cognition and interaction training (SCIT), in comparison to both therapeutic alliance focused therapy (TAFT) and treatment as usual (TAU) among persons with severe mental illness. Study purpose: 1) Assess the effectiveness of the SCIT and TAFT interventions, 2) Assess the processes that putatively contribute to the SCIT and TAFT outcomes. Method: A Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) with approximately one hundred and fifty persons with severe mental illness will be carried out in different psychiatric rehabilitation units and clinics in Israel. To assess the relative effectiveness of the SCIT and TAFT interventions with persons with severe mental illness, both interventions will be compared to treatment as usual (TAU). Clinicians will be trained in both interventions, and outcome measures, including social quality of life and social functioning, as well as mediating processes, including the identification of affective states, ToM, attribution errors and therapeutic alliance, will be assessed. Cognitive functioning and symptom severity will be treated as covariates. Statistical analyses will include analysis of variance which takes into consideration attrition, effect size, mediation processes and covariates.

This study applied a randomized parallel case-controlled design. The study purpose was to evaluate the effects of progressive muscle relaxation on anxiety, psychiatric symptoms and quality of life among patients with chronic schizophrenia compared with an active control.

Interventions that address criminogenic risk factors, such as Thinking for a Change (T4C), are not used with prisoners with serious mental illness (SMI) because of the neurocognitive and social impairments associated with SMI. This study examines the effectiveness of T4C with a modified delivery system designed specifically to address the unique needs of persons with SMI in prison, including improving impulsivity, criminal attitudes, and interpersonal problem solving (treatment targets) and levels of aggression, and the amount of behavioral infractions and time spent in administrative segregation in prison (outcomes).

This study will investigate whether seven days administration of the serotonin receptor subtype 4 (5-HT4) partial agonist prucalopride has effects on emotional processing and neural activity in healthy volunteers, compared to placebo administration. Using an experimental medicine approach, the effects of prucalopride on cognitive biomarkers of antidepressant action will be characterised. In a double-blind design, participants will be randomised to receive seven days administration of either prucalopride (1mg daily) or placebo. All participants will come for a Screening visit, Research Visit One (including an MRI scan) and Research Visit Two (including measures of emotional processing and non-emotional cognition). The primary study hypothesis is that seven-day prucalopride administration will have positive effects on emotional processing and reward sensitivity. A secondary hypothesis is that seven-day prucalopride administration will alter non-emotional cognition. Finally, the study will test the hypothesis that seven day prucalopride administration will alter neural activity during an emotional faces task and a memory task.

Recovery-oriented approach has been the main trend in mental health field. However, few recovery-oriented programs are available in Taiwan, and many Taiwanese people with mental illness don't understand the concepts of recovery. A program which provides recovery knowledge and assists in setting recovery goals is beneficial for Taiwanese people with mental illness. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a recovery program for people with mental illness.

Published research on the development of mental health symptomatology among adolescents has expanded in recent years and indicates the presence of a growing public health concern. The 2015 earthquakes in Nepal are a risk factor for increased psychological distress across all age groups. Prior studies have also demonstrated high chronic risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STBs) among adolescents in Nepal and throughout South Asia. Despite the need for mental health promotion interventions in Nepal, there is a lack of psychological treatments for suicide prevention that have been rigorously evaluated in Nepal. To address this gap, a trans diagnostic, emotion -focused mental health promotion intervention (Regulating Emotions through Adapted Dialectical behavior skills for Youth in Nepal; READY-Nepal) was developed for delivery in school-based settings. A pilot quasi-experimental trial utilizing a wait-list control group will be used to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention in a cohort of school -going adolescents in the Kathmandu Valley. Qualitative methodology will be used to augment quantitative findings via exploration of gender differences in perception and uptake of the program, program feasibility and acceptability, as well as changes in coping skills and explanatory models of stress between baseline and follow- up. This pilot study will aid in modifying the intervention to inform the development of a larger, adequately powered cluster randomized trial (CRT) of READY-Nepal.

This study will perform a needs assessment within an outpatient mental health unit, deliver an occupational therapy model of care, track patient and organizational outcomes, and provide training to staff to implement the model.

Amygdala is highly involved in emotional response, emotional reactivity and anxiety. Amygdala functions are therefore involved in a wide range of psychiatric disorders including generalized and social anxiety, specific phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder. Therefore, potential clinical implications of amygdala stimulation are great. However, to date, such efforts have been limited by the inability of non-invasive neuromodulation techniques (e.g. transcranial magnetic stimulation - TMS) to reach the amygdala and the highly invasive (i.e. neurosurgical) nature of methods (e.g. deep brain stimulation - DBS) which can, but to our knowledge has rarely been used, target these areas. In order to overcome these current limitations, study invesitgators propose the use of low intensity focused ultrasound pulsation (LIFUP) to affect amygdala activity to improve emotion regulation.

This study aims at evaluating the effectiveness of a mobile phone based intervention to prevent and manage mental health problems in healthcare workers at the frontline against COVID-19 in Spain. The intervention will consist in psychoeducation, delivered via a mobile App. Participants will be followed up during two weeks. The primary outcome will be symptomatology of depression, anxiety or stress.
