Injury and Illness Surveillance at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM

InjuriesIllness Physical2 more

The project aims to provide an overview of injury and illnesses during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. All teams are invited to participate and record details on time-loss injury and illness occurrence and training and match exposure during the tournament. In order to assess the severity of injuries (based on the length of time a player is unable to play for), all injuries are to be monitored until they are fully rehabilitated, even if this is after the end of the tournament. This information will be recorded by the team physicians and provided on daily report forms to the research team. Data will be encrypted before analysis and only anonymized data will be published. Descriptive statistics are used to provide an overview of the participant demographics and injury and illness occurrence. Injury incidence is calculated as number of injuries per 1000 hours of exposure, and injury burden is calculated as time-loss days per 1000 hours of exposure. Injury incidence and burden will be reported for training and match injuries separately. Illness incidence is calculated per 365 exposure days.

Biomarkers Predictive of Thymic Evolution and Therapeutic Response at 2 Years in Patients With a...

First-episode Psychosis

Psychosis is a severe, common, and disabling psychological disorder. An epidemiological study conducted in England reported an incidence of 34 new cases per 100,000 person-years, with a peak between 16 and 19 years of age. Following a first psychotic episode, two clinical evolutions are possible: thymic psychosis (17%) and non thymic psychosis (83%). The first includes bipolar disorders with a psychotic component and major depressive disorders with a psychotic component; the second, other psychotic disorders, mainly schizophrenia. One of the major difficulties encountered is the frequent impossibility of specifying the type of psychosis at the beginning of the psychotic episode. However, these disorders require different therapies, particularly medication. This leads to a delay in diagnosis with a high risk of relapse. The semiological study of these diseases being carried out within the framework of interviews, it seems interesting to be able to record these and to obtain a quantitative and objective measurement through the study of language. The use of machine learning has made it possible to distinguish patients with schizophrenia from those with bipolar disorder by graphical analysis of language in a more efficient way than with clinical scales. Moreover, it is possible to identify linguistic markers: thus, an alteration of syntactic structures and prosody would be more present in non-thymic than in thymic psychoses. Paraclinical markers are also emerging. In particular, the link between inflammation and mental disorders. For example, an increase in IL-8 has been found only in thymic psychoses. At the radiological level, distinct changes in the volume of grey matter have been shown between thymic and nonthymic psychoses. In this context, it seems essential to be able to distinguish these disorders as early as possible through the combined use of clinical and paraclinical markers, and to be able to better understand their pathophysiology.

Contingency Management for Smoking Cessation Among Veterans With Psychotic Disorders

Nicotine DependencePsychotic Disorders

This study examines the use of contingent incentives to increase attendance at smoking cessation treatment sessions by smokers with schizophrenia and other psychoses who want to quit smoking. We hypothesize that participants randomized to receive contingent rewards for group attendance will attend more treatment sessions than those in the control group.

Advanced Chronic Liver Disease Screening by Transient Elstography in Patients Hospitalised in a...

Psychiatric DisorderPsychiatric Hospitalization2 more

Scares data exists concerning the prevalence of chronic liver diseases in people with psychiatric disorders. There are still many barriers to screening and linkage to care for patients having somatic illness. Moreover follow-up of these patients may be difficult because of poor access to care, sometimes marginalization, and insufficient compliance with health programs. The aim of this study is to asses acceptability of of advanced chronic liver disease screening by transient elstography (Fibroscan ®) in patients hospitalised in a psychiatric unit.

How the Adolescent Inpatients Are Rehabilitated After Discharge

Psychiatric Diseases

The aims of this six month follow-up study are which treatment components will correlate or which clinical treatments interventions contribute adolescent inpatients recovering in the psychiatric treatment after discharge. Comparisons will be made between the 47 adolescents aged 13 to 18 years, with major depression and conduct disorders, and between those with and without suicide attempts by multivariate analyses. Are the adolescent psychiatric inpatients recovered?

Reducing Intrusive Memories in Refugees and Asylum Seekers With PTSD

Post Traumatic Stress DisorderStress Disorders7 more

This research study is designed to investigate the use of a simple cognitive task for decreasing the number of intrusive memories of traumatic events experienced by refugees and asylum seekers with a diagnosis of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) currently living in the UK. The intervention includes a memory reminder cue, a 10-minute time gap and then around 20 minutes playing the mobile phone game Tetris, using mental rotation instructions. The study will have a multiple baseline case-series design (AB), with a randomised duration of baseline length up to three weeks. Thus, participants will complete a no-intervention phase of up to three weeks, followed by an intervention phase. Please see the intervention section for more details about the intervention sessions. Follow ups are conducted after each week to monitor the frequency of intrusive memories of trauma in a pen-and-paper diary. It is predicted that participants will report fewer intrusive memories after receiving the intervention than in the preceding baseline phase.

Psychiatric Genotype/Phenotype Project Repository

Depressive DisorderMajor2 more

The purpose of this project is to obtain DNA, brain imaging data, other biological samples (e.g., urine, serum), and a comprehensive clinical assessment on patients with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, major depression, and normal volunteer controls. Understanding the physical and genetic factors related to these disorders will help us make progress in fitting treatments to an individual's needs. Participants will take part in a detailed clinical assessment, two blood draws, and an MRI scan over two visits. Participants will also be asked to provide urine and saliva samples.
