Clinical Trial Evaluating the Efficacy and Safety of AGB101 for Treatment of Parkinson's Disease...

Parkinson Disease Psychosis

This clinical trial will test whether AGB101 (low-dose levetiracetam, 220 mg, extended release tablet) can improve symptoms of psychosis in Parkinson's disease. Participants will be asked to complete up to 5 in-person study visits over approximately 20 weeks. Participants will receive both AGB101 and a placebo to take once a day for 6 weeks, with a 4-week washout in between. Participation will also involve physical/neurological exams, questionnaires, paper and pencil tests, providing blood and urine samples, and completing two MRI exams.

Effect of Immersive Virtual Reality-based Cognitive Remediation in Patients With Mood - or Psychosis...

Bipolar DisorderDepression4 more

The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate the effect of a four-weeks, intensive virtual reality (VR)-based cognitive remediation (training) programme involving simulated daily-life challenges on cognition and functional capacity in symptomatically stable patients with mood disorders (depression or bipolar disorder) or psychosis spectrum disorders (F20-F29; e.g. schizophrenia or schizotypal disorder). The investigators hypothesize that VR-based cognitive remediation vs. a VR control treatment has a beneficial effect on cognition after four-weeks treatment completion (primary outcome assessement time) measured with a novel ecologically valid VR test of daily-life cognitive functions (The CAVIR test; primary outcome measure), a verbal learning and memory composite score based on a traditional neuropsychological test and a performance-based measure of daily functioning (secondary outcome measures). Finally, for exploratory purposes, the study will examine neuronal underpinnings of treatment effects, and effects on additional measures of cognition, functioning and self-ratings scales (tertiary outcomes).

Yoga-based Group Therapy for In-patients With Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders

Psychotic Disorders

A rater-blinded randomized controlled trial with a parallel-group design is utilized, comprised of yoga-based group therapy (YBGT) in the experimental condition, and treatment as usual (TAU) in the control condition. The participants in the experimental condition participate in YBGT beside their regular psychiatric treatment (TAU). The intervention is designed for in-patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders. With the aim of examining the feasibility, acceptability and effectiveness, self-report and blinded rater-based assessments are evaluated before the YBGT (T0), and after four weeks of taking part in intervention (T1).

A Study to Assess Efficacy and Safety of KarXT for the Treatment of Psychosis Associated With Alzheimer's...

Psychosis Associated With Alzheimer's Disease

This is a Phase 3, 38-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter, outpatient study in subjects with psychosis associated with Alzheimer's Disease. The primary objective of the study is to evaluate relapse prevention in subjects with psychosis associated with Alzheimer's Disease treated with KarXT compared to placebo. The secondary objectives of the study are to evaluate the time from randomization to discontinuation for any reason and safety and tolerability in subjects with psychosis associated with Alzheimer's Disease treated with KarXT compared to placebo.

Gabapentin for Restoring GABA/Glutamate Homeostasis in Co-occurring Bipolar and Cannabis Use Disorders...

Bipolar DisorderCannabis Use10 more

This research study evaluates the effects of an FDA-approved medication Gabapentin in individuals with Bipolar Disorder who smoke marijuana. Participants in the study will will be assigned to take either Gabapentin or a matched placebo. Study medication will be taken for 17 days. There will be 5 study visits, with 2 MRI brain imaging scans completed. Questionnaires and clinical interview measures will be completed at study visits along with consistent assessment of potential side effects from study medication.

Mood DisordersAnxiety Disorders1 more

A 24-week, patient- and rater-blinded, two-arm, parallel-group controlled, and multi-centre randomized clinical trial (RCT) to establish the benefits of pharmacogenetics-informed pharmacotherapy versus dosing as usual (DAU) in psychiatric patients suffering from mood, anxiety, or psychotic disorders.

A Comprehensive Third-generation Intervention for People With Psychosis and Post-traumatic Stress...

TraumaPsychological1 more

Existing data suggest that both trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are very common among individuals with psychosis. The presence of PTSD symptoms in psychosis is associated with worse clinical outcomes and poorer social functioning. However, PTSD is a poorly attended and poorly studied condition among this population. Research to date indicates that trauma-focused treatments are safe and effective for PTSD, even when psychotic comorbidity is present. Recent systematic reviews of psychological interventions for trauma in psychosis found that are effective in reducing trauma symptoms, suggesting that they should be implemented in front-line services. Nonetheless, larger confirmative trials are required to form robust conclusions. The aim of this project is to examine the efficacy of comprehensive third-generation protocol for people with comorbid trauma and psychosis.
