Resolving Psychological Stress
Post-Traumatic Stress DisorderAlcohol Use DisorderThe investigators have developed a mobile app called Resolving Psychological Stress (REPS) to help alleviate symptoms of PTSD. The app will administer threat-related attention bias modification to individuals who have both a Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders V (DSM-V) diagnosis of PTSD (and meet at least one DSM-V criteria for threat sensitivity) and a DSM-V diagnosis of Alcohol Use Disorder. The aims of the study are to explore both the feasibility and acceptability of the app with it's users, and to explore the efficacy of the app at alleviating PTSD severity.
Electroconvulsive Therapy for Traumatic Memories
Post Traumatic Stress DisorderDepressionThis study will investigate whether ECT treatment can reduce the effect of traumatic memories if those memories are recalled immediately prior to the ECT sessions. Participants will be randomized to either a recall of a traumatic memory or a neutral non-traumatic memory prior to their ECT sessions.
PTSD of Surgeons or Anesthesiologists on Prognosis of Surgical Patients
Post Traumatic Stress DisorderPostoperative Complications1 moreThe objective of this prospective cohort study is to explore the association between the development of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in surgeons and anesthesiologists and postoperative prognosis in surgical patients they care for during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are 2 cohorts included in this study. The first cohort consists of registered surgeons and anesthesiologists in the study center. The development of PTSD will be evaluated with a series of questionnaires and scales. This cohort defines exposure (with PTSD). The second cohort consists of surgical patients managed by the surgeons and anesthesiologists in the first cohort. The postoperative outcome of these patients will be evaluated thus to explore the association between PTSD in physicians and adverse patient outcomes. The second cohort defines the outcomes( response).
A Retrospective Effectiveness Trial of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy in Adult Patients Coping...
DepressionAnxiety1 moreKetamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a relatively new approach for the treatment of mental health issues, which involves the combination of ketamine, a dissociative anaesthetic with psychedelic properties, and psychotherapy to promote emotional wellbeing. In this study, we investigated the effectiveness of KAP in adult patients coping with mental health. We predicted that clients would experience lasting reductions in psychological distress over time, such as depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress, that would be detectable up to 6 months after treatment. The results of this study may provide evidence of sustained real-world effects of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, of interest to patients, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers.
Adaptation of Mindfulness Training to Treat Moral Injury in Veterans
MindfulnessEducational SupportThis project is highly innovative as it will be the first to develop a mindfulness-based treatment as a first-line intervention tailored to target moral injury among combat-wounded veterans. In Study 1, the investigators recruited a small group of veterans to give feedback on the project. In Studies 2 and 3, the investigators will compare the newly developed mindfulness training to an equally intensive Educational Support condition. Further, if successful, this application may have the ability to adapted and extended to address common to other professions that experience moral injury.
TF-CBT for Long-term PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder and Anxiety Disorders in Victims of Terrorism...
Posttraumatic Stress DisorderMajor Depressive Disorder1 moreThe objective of this study is to test the efficacy of a Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) adapted for use with victims of terrorism in Spain who are diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major depressive disorder and/or anxiety disorders subsequent to direct or indirect exposure to a series of terrorist attacks that occurred 20 years prior to treatment on average. Spanish victims who meet the criteria for long-term posttraumatic stress disorder, major depressive disorder, and/or anxiety disorders related to direct or indirect exposure to terrorist attacks that occurred 20 years ago, on average, will be randomly assigned to 16 weekly sessions of TF-CBT (experimental group) or waiting list control (control group) conditions. Between groups comparisons related to diagnostic rates and posttraumatic, depressive and anxiety symptoms will be made immediately after the intervention. Pre- follow-up comparisons related to diagnostic rates and posttraumatic, depressive, and anxiety symptoms will be carried out for the experimental group. It is hypothesised that participants receiving TF-CBT will have significantly lower diagnostic rates and mean levels of posttraumatic, depressive and anxiety symptoms than the control group immediately after the intervention, and that they will experience significant pre-treatment to 6-month follow-up decreases in diagnostic rates and in posttraumatic, depressive and anxiety symptoms.
TMS-fNIRS Personalized Dosing
Post Traumatic Stress DisorderTraumatic Brain InjuryThe intent of this study is to establish technical feasibility in a clinical population (PTSD, with or without mild TBI) of personalized TMS-fNIRS technology. Thereby demonstrating the utility of transcranial magnetic stimulation - functional near-infrared spectroscopy (TMS-fNIRS) technology as a direct measure of frontal brain activity, potentially replacing the indirect motor threshold procedure that may lead to improper dosing of TMS. Personalized TMS-fNIRS technology will guide therapy for depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI)
ALTO-100 in MDD and/or PTSD
Major Depressive DisorderPost Traumatic Stress DisorderThe goal of this study is to collect biologically based data for defining predictors and correlates of the effects of ALTO-100.
Eating Disorders With and Without Childhood Trauma
Eating DisordersStress Disorders1 moreThe combination of EDs (ED) and post-traumatic sequelae of childhood trauma leads to significant impairment, suffering and represents a public health concern because it is frequently associated with role impairment, and is frequently under-treated. Considering the severity of these conditions, there is a need to develop more effective treatments that are tailored to the specific needs of these patients as no conclusion has been made about the treatment of choice. To improve treatment it is critically important to study treatment effects and the mechanism of these effects.
The Role of Exercise in the Treatment of PTSD Symptoms
Posttraumatic Stress DisorderThis is an 8-week experimental, repeated-measures clinical trial randomizing 120 Service Members with symptoms of PTSD into one of four groups: 1) imaginal exercises of exposure therapy only, 2) aerobic exercise only, 3) imaginal exercises augmented with aerobic exercise, or 4) self-care.
