Lung DiseaseThe study is aimed to evaluate and describe the added value of inReach planning software on performance characteristics of standard bronchoscopy.
Comprehensive Disease Management Program in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Patients...
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)The purpose of this study is to determine whether comprehensive disease management program combined with best care recommended in clinical guidelines, is more effective than best care alone in patients with advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Effects of Aerobe Interval Training and Moderate Continuous Training in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary...
COPDChronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseReduced exercise tolerance is one of the hallmarks of COPD. The principal causes for exercise intolerance are ventilatory limitation leading to deconditioning and inactivity. So far it is poorly understood which form of exercise is the most effective in training this condition. The investigators want to study the physiological response to two different training programs (High intensity aerobe interval training and moderate continuous aerobe training)with special focus on cardiac and skeletal muscle adaptions
Monitoring Asthma and COPD in Primary Care
Lung DiseasesObstructive1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a written expert advice for GPs on additional diagnostic, treatment, and referral of patients based on half-yearly monitoring routines for patients with COPD or ashtma with a persistent obstruction in primary care based on a multicentre randomised nested clinical trial
Effectiveness of Home Automated Telemanagement in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder
Pulmonary DiseaseChronic ObstructiveAll chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPDs) block air flow to the lungs, and the two most common forms, emphysema and chronic bronchitis, are the most common causes of respiratory failure. Previous research shows that if COPD patients know more about their disease and how to manage it themselves, they will improve their quality of life and reduce their need for urgent care. However, traditional methods of teaching COPD patients about their disease and self-management skills are expensive and require intensive work. A new, less expensive way of reaching a large group of people with this information is needed to help patients stay healthier and happier with their treatment. This study will create a computer program that can help people learn about their disease and how to manage it themselves. This study will then determine whether the computer program, called Home Automated Telemanagement (HAT), helps patients with COPD in managing their disease and following their treatment plans.
Safety and Efficacy of Multiple Doses of Canakinumab (ACZ885) in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease...
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseWas to evaluate the safety, tolerability and efficacy of multiple doses of canakinumab (ACZ885) vs. placebo when administered via intravenous infusion (IV), on pulmonary function in patients with COPD
Noninvasive Positive Pressure Ventilation Using Helium:Oxygen Versus Air:Oxygen in Acute Respiratory...
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseBronchiolitisto assess the effectiveness of helium:oxygen mixture adjunct with non-invasive ventilation in sulfur mustard exposed patients with acute decompensation
Phase 1 Safety and Pharmacokinetic Study of AI-700 in Patients With Diminished DLCO and COPD and/or...
Congestive Heart FailureChronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseThis study was conducted to evaluate the safety and pharmacokinetics of an echocardiographic contrast agent, AI-700, in patients with moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and/or congestive heart failure (CHF).
Modulation of Benzene Metabolism by Exposure to Environment
Lung DiseasesCancerThe research is to evaluate benzene metabolism after exposure at levels that can be found in the environment, such as the higher end concentrations in the air inside cars and buses while being driven in heavy traffic and inside private and public parking garages. To do so breath, urine, and blood samples prior to, during and after being exposed to benzene as well as benzene levels and benzene metabolites present are measured.
