Evaluation in Elderly Individuals With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease(COPD)
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)This study is conducted on the evaluation of balance, physical activity, functional capacity and activities of daily living in frail elderly individuals with COPD.
Effect of Staphylococcus and Neisseria Tablets on Patients With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease...
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseThis is a multi-center, prospective study. This study aims to investigate the incidence of acute exacerbation within 12 months, as well as the safety of Staphylococcus and Neisseria Tablets on patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In addition, this study investigates the improvement of hospitalization, improvement of pulmonary function, improvement of symptoms, and the use of anti-Infective drugs among COPD patients.
COPD: A Multi-center Supervised Tele-rehabilitation Study
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseChronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) patients could benefit from pulmonary rehabilitation(PR) in better managing of the disease and its symptoms and in avoiding future relapses and hospitalizations. However, due to a large number of drop outs from PR, lack of professionals, and the (Corona Virus Disease 2019) COVID-19 epidemic, the PR has been underutilized, leading to a need for investigation of updated forms. The study aims to investigate the effects of a home-based PR program using minimal accessories, facilitated with wearable activity trackers and smartphones.

3D-printed Reconstruction Automated Matching System Predicts Size of Double-lumen Tube: a Prospective...
Lung CancerLung Diseases3 moreLung isolation techniques are commonly used to facilitate surgical exposure and to provide single-lung ventilation for patients. We have developed an automatic comparison software for 3D reconstruction based on CT data (3DRACS). It reconstructs the trachea and bronchus and compares them with the DLT, predicting the most suitable size and depth of the DLT for lung isolation. The aim of this study was to compare whether the use of 3DRACS to select a DLT size compared to conventional empirical selection methods could improve incidence of DLT intubation success and reduce airway injury.
Move With Air: Exercise Training Study
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseInterstitial Lung Disease1 moreThe purpose of this study is to explore the role of a stream of cool air to the face, through fan-to-face therapy, as a novel adjunct non-pharmacological therapy to enable symptomatic adults with cardiopulmonary disease to exercise at higher intensities for longer durations and maximize the psycho-physiological benefits of a supervised exercise training program. The investigators hypothesize that, compared to no fan, fan-to-face therapy will result in relatively greater improvements in exercise endurance time and intensity ratings of perceived breathlessness during constant-load cardiopulmonary exercise testing on a treadmill at 75% of peak power output.
AI in PRImary Care Spirometry Pathways for Diagnosis of Lung Disease (APRIL)
Lung DiseasesTo investigate the feasibility of performing a future real-world randomised controlled trial to determine the clinical effectiveness of ArtiQ.Spiro in supporting diagnostic performance of primary care staff in the interpretation of spirometry
CF Bronchodilation
Lung DiseasesCystic FibrosisIt is estimated that one in every 3,600 children in Canada has cystic fibrosis (CF). CF is a genetic disease that affects the glands that produce mucus and sweat. In CF, mucus production increases and the mucus becomes thick and sticky. This can block the airways, making it difficult to breathe. Mucus production also causes bacteria to grow, which can lead to infections in the lungs. Individuals with CF suffer from shortness of breath, wheezing, cough, and poor exercise capacity. There are limited treatment options to reduce shortness of breath in these individuals. Some medications known as bronchodilators are commonly prescribed to reduce breathlessness in patients with CF. These drugs help open the airways making it easier to breathe. Unfortunately, there is limited scientific proof that these drugs can reduce shortness of breath and improve exercise capacity in patients with CF. As a result, some experts have recommended that these drugs should not be prescribed for patients with CF. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of a bronchodilator on shortness of breath, exercise performance, and breathing responses compared to a placebo drug in adults with CF.
Increase Level of Physical Activity and Decrease Use of Health Care for People With COPD
Pulmonary DiseaseChronic ObstructiveThis study evaluates the effects of the COPD Web (KOLwebben), an interactive web-based tool directed towards people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The COPD Web include tools that improve health literacy with a specific focus on 1) increased physical activity and 2) use of appropriate self-management strategies. This randomized clinical trial aims to generate evidence on the effect and usability of the COPD Web in a properly powered cohort of patients in primary care context.
