Concurrent and Non-concurrent Chemo-radiotherapy or Radiotherapy Alone for Patients With Oligo-metastatic...

Stage IV (Oligo-metastases)Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

In recent years, it has become clear, that also in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), a group of patients with less than 5 distant metastases may experience long-term survival when treated radically to all macroscopic cancer sites. Thus has mostly been established for individuals with so-called solitary brain metastases and to a lesser extend in solitary adrenal gland metastases, but in other metastatic subgroups, the same may be applicable. In a prospective survey in the region of the Integral Cancercentre (IKL), we could identify on a yearly base 30 patients with NSCLC who could theoretically be amendable for radical treatment of all oligo-metastatic locations. We therefore want to perform a prospective study in which patients with less than 4 oligo-metastatic sites from a primary NSCLC will be treated radically with the aim to improve long-term survival. As many discussion points remain, even after thorough discussions with chest physicians, pulmonary surgeons and colleagues from diagnostic disciplines, we decided to go for a pragmatic approach, implying that all macroscopic disease sites should be treated radically, being defined as surgery with a R0 resection or in case of an unforeseen R1 resection, followed by radiotherapy, or radiotherapy to a biological equivalent of at least 60 Gy in 30 daily fractions. In the same patient, one metastatic site may be treated with surgery and another with radical radiotherapy. Systemic treatment was not made mandatory, because it was felt that it's role is unclear in patients with early stage local cancer and with oligo-metastatic disease.

Radiomics: a Study of Outcome in Lung Cancer

Lung Cancer

Aim of the study: The main aim is to collect data of patients with lung cancer, and to perform different analyses on this data. The data contains information on patient and tumor characteristics, imaging, and treatment characteristics. With this data it is possible to improve and validate the predictive model for survival and long term toxicity in lung cancer by multicentric prospective data collection. The long term aim, beyond this specific study, is to build a Decision Support System based on the predictive models validated in this study. Hypothesis: The general hypothesis is that we get a better prediction in terms of AUC (area under the curve) of survival and long term toxicity when we combine multifactorial variables. These variables consist of information from clinical data, imaging data, data related to treatment type and treatment quality.

e- Ab Sensor-based Real-time Detection of Mutant EGFR in Clinical Specimens From Patients of Non-small...

Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

The purpose of this study is to develop a real-time diagnostic technique with e- Ab sensor for specific EGFR mutation detection in clinical specimens of NSCLC patients, the investigators conduct a prospective clinical study. In comparison with results from direct sequencing of EGFR, the investigators evaluate the performance of e- Ab sensor, including reproducibility, sensitivity, specificity, and cross-reaction (such as detection of EGFR mutations other than L858R and DelL746-A750). The potential factors which may interfere with the results would be investigated. With such technique, the investigators can obtain EGFR mutation information of NSCLC patients in cost-saving and time-saving way and can offer more individualized treatment for the investigators patients.

Chest Imaging, Breath, and Biomarkers in a Screening Trial

Lung Cancer

The investigators would like to see if lung cancer screening with chest x-rays,computer aided detection (CAD)and a lose dose CT scan can detect lung cancer in early stages when it is more responsive to treatment. The investigators would also like to see if early detection will reduce the incidence of symptomatic advanced lung cancer compared to no screening in former and current smokers with or without a family history of lung cancer who are 40-75 years old.

Non-Squamous Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

This prospective, multicenter observational study will evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of Tarceva (erlotinib) as second-line treatment in patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who have progressed after pemetrexed-containing first-line chemotherapy. Eligible patients will be followed until withdrawal of consent, lost-to-follow-up, or study termination, whichever occurs first.

Retrospective Study in a NSCLC M+ p

EGFR Mutated Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Patients

This is a national, multicentre, non-interventional, retrospective study to be carried out in the oncology settings of approximately 15-20 Spanish hospitals. At each participant hospital, all patients recently diagnosed with advanced EGFR mutated NSCLC (both newly or with recurrent disease , without previous treatment for metastatic disease) from April 2010 to December 2011 will be included as study population. Information about the follow-up of the patients during a minimum of 12 months after diagnosis will be collected.

Study of Tissue Samples From Patients With Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Lung Cancer

RATIONALE: Studying samples of tissue from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in DNA and identify biomarkers related to cancer. PURPOSE: This research trial studies tissue samples from patients with non-small cell lung cancer.

Non-Squamous Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

This prospective observational study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of Tarceva (erlotinib) in elderly patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after failure of at least one prior chemotherapy regimen. Data of patients treated with Tarceva in routine clinical practice will be collected for 1 year.
