Topical Steroids & Bacterial Decolonization for Radiation Dermatitis

The purpose of this study is to determine whether bacterial decolonization of the nares and skin, topical steroid therapy, or a combination of the two regimens prior to treatment with radiotherapy (RT) for breast and head and neck cancer patients can prevent grade 2 or higher grade radiation dermatitis (RD) graded via the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) scale and improve quality of life.

Primary objective - To investigate the effectiveness of Jalosome® compared with placebo in the prevention and treatment of RID in patients with HNC undergoing RT. Secondary objectives: To investigate the effectiveness of Jalosome® in reducing the maximum severity of RID compared with placebo. To investigate the effect of Jalosome®, compared with placebo, on patients' quality of life. To investigate safety and tolerability of Jalosome®. To investigate patient's compliance to Jalosome® treatment. To investigate patient's global satisfaction with Jalosome® treatment.

Efficacy of the Mepitel® Film on the Prevention of Radiodermatitis in the Inguinal Fold.

The aim is to quantify the efficiency of the Safetac product Mepitel® Film on the prevention of radiodermatitis for cancer patients treated with external beam radiation therapy near the inguinal fold(s). Previous studies have looked into the differences in skin reactions for Mepitel® Film versus hydro-active colloid gel in breast cancer [1, 2] and head and neck cancer [3]. In breast cancer, the prevalence of radiation induced dermatitis has strongly decreased due to of modern radiotherapy techniques and fractionation. In the groin, however, this is not the case, and radiation dermatitis remains an important problem. To the best of our knowledge, no previous study has looked into the efficiency of a prophylactic Mepitel® Film protocol in the inguinal fold. The goal of this study is to evaluate whether the Mepitel® Film offers a lower degree of radiation-induced dermatitis compared to hydro-active colloid gel and thereby challenging the gold standard. Radiation Dermatitis

Routinely collected data on radiation-induced skin toxicity from 2010 to 2022 will be retrospectively analyzed. Data will be split into two cohorts: patients that received 1) StrataXRT and 2) standard of care. The incidence of grade ≥ 2 radiation dermatitis, the time to onset of grade ≥ 2 radiation dermatitis, the radiation dose at onset of grade ≥ 2 radiation dermatitis, the incidence of moist desquamation and the number of treatment interruptions will be compared between the cohorts.

Breast CancerRadiation Dermatitis

Breast cancer is the top one incidence of cancer in women. Whole breast radiation therapy plays an indispensable role in the course of breast cancer treatment, and the radiation dermatitis is the major side effect affected quality of life. Radiation dermatitis can be divided into acute and chronic. Severe acute radiation dermatitis affects the quality of life of patients during the course of treatment, and may cause treatment interruption and affect the efficacy. Chronic radiation dermatitis may cause irreversible skin problems, and lead to so-called "radiation-irritated skin" (radiation-irritated skin) seriously affects the quality of life of breast cancer patients after treatment. This study will enroll 30 breast cancer patients who received whole breast radiation therapy after breast conserving surgery. Subject will receive FR-101 chest dressing and be instructed to use the product on the target skin area accepted radiation therapy once every 2 days, taking care of avoiding applications from 1 to 4 h before treatment to prevent "Build-up" effect. Subjects will need to come back to clinics for assessment weekly during radiotherapy, 2 weeks after radiotherapy, and 6 weeks after radiotherapy. The evaluation includes physical examinations, questionnaire surveys, skin observation and measurements, and photographs. The total study time is at least 3 months. The target area of radiation-irritated skin condition will be observed and graded according to CTCAE rate. The skin physiological parameters will be detected by MoistureMeter SC, Vapometer, SkinColorCatch and HX-YL001 infrared thermometer. Statistical analysis of skin physiological parameters is used to evaluate the efficacy of FR-101 chest dressing on the prevention of acute radiation dermatitis after radiotherapy.

This clinical trial studies the effect of StrataXRT in preventing and treating radiation dermatitis in breast cancer or head and neck cancer patients. Radiotherapy is often associated with multiple side effects. These side effects can cause patient injury and make it difficult to complete treatment. For example, radiation dermatitis or skin damage may result in severe skin peeling and skin irritation. Depending on the location of radiation, the skin damage can cause problems and be tough to heal. This trial aims to see whether StrataXRT may help to prevent dermatitis after radiation therapy.

These treatments often cause adverse effects on the skin, which can be accompanied by physical and mental suffering and have a significant impact on patients' quality of life. Improving the quality of life of patients is today a therapeutic challenge. The objective of this clinical study is to assess the tolerability of an innovative skin cosmetic product that will be developed specifically for use during curative anticancer treatments, as well as to study the impact on quality of life of skin side effects caused by the treatments.
