Salvage HIFU for Local Recurrence in the Prostatic Bed After Prostatectomy and External Beam Radiation...

Prostatic Cancer

Retrospective monocentric analysis performed on patients treated with salvage HIFU for isolated macroscopic recurrence in the prostatic bed after radical prostatectomy and salvage or adjuvant EBRT. The oncological outcomes (treatment failure-free survival, progression-free survival), the adverse events and urinary incontinence will be evaluated.

Outcomes of Patients With Diverticulitis and Risk Factors for Recurrence

Recurrence

In the Emergency Department (ED), patients with acute diverticulitis usually present with acute abdominal pain. Sometimes, or mostly, it is an exclusive diagnosis, meaning that the diagnosis would be made after other emergent and acute abdomens are excluded. The recurrent diverticulitis cost medical burden. The studies focusing on potential risk factors of recurrent diverticulitis, especially for those after an episode of acute diverticulitis, are limited.

TES of Artemether-lumefantrine for Pf and Chloroquine for Pv in the Philippines From 2013-2014

MalariaFalciparum Malaria2 more

An antimalarial drug efficacy trial was conducted for artemether-lumefantrine (AL) and chloroquine (CQ) in the three (3) municipalities (Bataraza, Brookes and Rizal) of Palawan. Study subjects are febrile individuals between > 6 months old and 59 years old with confirmed uncomplicated P. falciparum or P. vivax infections. Patients with P. falciparum was treated with Artemether-lumefantrine administered 3 days (Days 0, 1 and 2) according to body weight. Primaquine at 0.75 mg base/kg body weight single dose was given on Day 3. For Plasmodium vivax patients chloroquine were administered according to body weight at a total dose of 25 mg/kg over 3 days (10 mg/kg on Day 0; 10 mg/kg on Day 1 and 5 mg/kg on Day 2), and primaquine following the National Treatment Guidelines. During the period that this report covers, 84 and 75 patients met the inclusion criteria for Pf and Pv respectively. Clinical and parasitological parameters were monitored over a 28-day follow-up period for both drugs. The presence of only 1 Late Clinical Failure (LCF) of P. falciparum parasitemia out of 84 enrolled patients and 2 Late Parasitological Failure (LPF) of P. vivax patients out of 75 enrolled patients within the 28 days follow up suggest that both drugs are still efficacious.

F18-PSMA-1007 PET for Early Biochemical Recurrence of Prostate Cancer

Prostate Cancer Recurrent

18F-PSMA-1007 is a new radiopharmaceutical for the detection of prostate cancer with potential benefits over the registered 18F-Fluciclovine (Axumin). The main potential benefit is the higher detection rate of PSMA compared to Fluciclovin in the low PSA range. It may therefore be more sensitive in detecting local disease in case of biochemical recurrens. The investigators aim to compare the detection efficacy of 18F-PSMA-1007 to 18F-Fluciclovin in prostate cancer patients with biochemical recurrence (PSA levels 0.2-5 ng/ml).

Effect of a Lactobacillus Strain on the Prevention of Recurrent Vaginal Candidiasis

Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis

The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the consumption of the one probiotic strain in the prevention of new vaginal candidiasis events in women with recurrent vaginal candidiasis. This is a preliminary study whose purpose is to know if this probiotic is effective in reducing the number of candidiasis events and / or increasing the time between possible relapses in women diagnosed with RVVC.

PCRC-Supported Legacy Intervention in Pediatric Palliative Care

Care GiverRecurrent Malignant Neoplasm1 more

This trial studies how well a web-based legacy intervention works in improving the quality of life in caregivers and younger patients with cancer that has come back (recurrent) or does not respond to treatment (refractory). Legacy-making, defined as doing or saying something to be remembered, may reduce the suffering of children with cancer and their caregivers. Currently, there is little information about what kinds of legacy-making activities are helpful from the perspective of children. Using a web-based digital storytelling intervention, this study may help researchers examine what children think about these legacy-making activities and what kinds of activities might be helpful to them.

Bezlotoxumab - in "Real Life" - During the First Episode of Clostridium Difficile Infection in Patients...

Clostridium Difficile Infection

The main hypothesis of the study is that Bezlotoxumab is well tolerated and effective in reducing the recurrence of ICD (Clostridium Difficile infection) in patients with a high risk of recurrence in the first episode of ICD. As a consequence, the number of readmissions and hospital stays, will be reduced in patients treated with Bezlotoxumab.

Remote Monitoring of AF Recurrence Using mHealth Technology

Long Standing Persistent Atrial Fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia worldwide. It carries a significant health burden, conferring on sufferers a reduction in quality of life, risk of significant morbidities such as stroke and heart failure, and significant mortality. At present, diagnosis of AF involves referral for conventional 12 lead electrocardiogram (ECG) recording, ambulatory ECG for fixed time period recording, or insertion of implantable loop recorders (ILR). These investigations are limited both by recording only at specific time points and failing to explore the interaction between heart rate and day-to-day physical activity. In recent years, the use of mobile health (mHealth) devices has emerged as a direct-to-consumer option for monitoring parameters such as heart rate and activity levels. From a clinical perspective they potentially offer a less invasive and cost-effective investigative approach, with remote monitoring solution to identify and possibly predict AF. In this study, the investigators propose to recruit participants who have undergone an ablative procedure as part of a randomised clinical trial (LoTO in CASA LSPAF: NCT04280042) and monitor for recurrence of AF using mHealth technology by correlating with ILR data.

Evaluation of Adductor Magnus Tenodesis in Patients With Recurrent Patellar Dislocation.

Recurrent Patellar DislocationPatellar Instability1 more

Between 2010 and 2012, 33 children and adolescents (39 knees) with recurrent patellar dislocation were treated with MPFL reconstruction using the adductor magnus tendon. The aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of this surgical procedure in long follow-up. The outcomes will be evaluated functionally (Lysholm knee scale, the Kujala Anterior Knee Pain Scale, and isokinetic examination) and radiographically (Caton-Deschamps index, sulcus angle, congruence angle, and patellofemoral angle). This is a continuation of the research published in 2015 with longer follow-up at least 10 years. All available patients will be evaluated with the same protocol, using the same methods and devices. Functional outcome is planned to be measured with scales as above. In radiological assessment Merchant and lateral knee weight bearing view and additionally MRI will be performed. Isokinetic test will be performed in two speeds of 60 and 180 deg/s. Most of important isokinetic parameters such as peak torque, torque in 30 deg, time to peak torque, peak torque to body weight both for quadriceps and hamstrings will be measured and compared to those from former research. Dedicated statistical test will be used for both: analysis of present status and differences from former results.
