Prevalence of Pharyngolaryngeal Reflux in Patients Treated for Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome...

Obstructive Sleep ApneaReflux1 more

The aim of the study is to find, using validated and efficient tools, a laryngopharyngeal reflux in patients receiving polysomnography for suspected obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. It is proposed to carry out simultaneously, at the Sleep Center of the Polyclinique of Poitiers (CSPP), a polysomnography, a 24-hour Restech pharyngeal pH-metry (day and night), a Peptest (in the evening and in the morning of the polysomnography), with the RSS-12 questionnaire and the RSA score.

Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Before and After Cricopharyngeal Myotomy

Laryngopharyngeal RefluxZenker's Diverticulum

The purpose of this study is to see if people with reflux with a Zenker's diverticulum have increased reflux into the throat following a cricopharyngeal myotomy.

The Relationship Between Gastroesophageal Reflux and Pediatric Rhinitis: Significance of Pale/Blue...

RhinitisNasal Obstruction1 more

Gastroesophageal(GERD) reflux disease is a very common problem among pediatric population and has be proved to contribute in numerous otolaryngological manifestations. Trails of empirical treatment of antireflux medications is often used as a diagnostic test. However, the investigators believe GERD can cause rhinitis and nasal obstruction. Nasonex is considered as first line treatment for nasal obstruction. Hence, the proposed study aims to define the relationship between GERD and rhinitis using randomize control trial where one group of patients will receive nasonex and placebo, while the other group will receive nasonex and antireflux medications.

Assessment of Esophageal Epithelium Integrity With Mucosal Impedance

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)Non-erosive Reflux Disease (NERD)

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common condition affecting more than 100 million adults in the U.S., and it significantly impacts patients' quality of life while imposing billions of dollars of direct and indirect costs each year upon our healthcare system. Current diagnostic tests for GERD are highly invasive and medically inadequate, and the goal of this project is to develop a novel, minimally invasive Mucosal Impedance technique for more accurate detection of GERD while reducing costs.

Symptom Assessment for Patients With Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease Receiving Helicobacter Pylori...

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Background: Rebound acid hypersecretion and acid-related symptoms after discontinuation of proton-pump inhibitor has been reported in previous studies. In patients with concurrent gastro-esophageal reflux disease and Helicobacter pylori infection, whether eradication of H. pylori will aggravate acid-related symptoms after discontinuation of proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) remains elusive Objective: This study aims to investigate the incidence and severity of acid-related symptoms after discontinuation of proton-pump inhibitor in reflux patients receiving H. pylori eradication Expected result: The investigators will find out the incidence and severity of acid-related symptoms after discontinuation of proton-pump inhibitor in reflux patients receiving H. pylori eradication

Endoscopic Tri-Modal Imaging to Distinguish Functional Dyspepsia From Reflux Disease

Gastroesophageal Reflux DiseaseDyspepsia1 more

Endoscopic Tri-Modal Imaging which combines Narrow-band Imaging(NBI), Autofluorescence Imaging (AFI) and White-light Imaging (WLI) could be used to identify the indistinct changes in the gut caused by reflux disease, either acid reflux or bile reflux, which make it possible to differentiate reflux disease from functional dyspepsia (FD).

Efficacy of Dx-pH Probe in Diagnosing Extra-esophageal Reflux Disease

GERDLarynx Disease

The purpose of this study is to establish the clinical application of a new device that records pH changes in the hypopharynx. The investigators also aim to compare the consistency of distal esophageal pH with hypopharyngeal pH using both the "short" and the "long" catheters in patients.

Prevacid vs Lifestyle Modifications for the Treatment of LPR

Laryngopharyngeal Reflux

The purpose of this study is to evaluate changes in scores on the Reflux Finding Score and Reflux Symptom Index over a 24 week period. To enroll subjects must score at least a 13 on the Reflux Symptom Index and at least a 5 on the Reflux Finding Score. All subjects will receive education on lifestyle modifications with a nutritionist and exercise trainer. All subjects will be expected to comply with lifestyle modifications for the entire study period of 24 weeks. Half of all subjects will receive Prevacid 30mg BID and half will receive placebo BID for 24 weeks. Subjects will have 4 office visits over 24 weeks and weekly contacts with the study staff to assess Reflux Symptom Index and any health or medication changes.

The Difference of Reflux Pattern Between the Patients Who Have Postprandial Reflux Symptoms

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Gastroesophageal reflux disease is increasing worldwide. The causes of reflux symptoms are not found exactly. especially, the postprandial reflux symptoms are more common than the all day reflux symptoms. One of the causes of reflux symptoms is the relaxation of the lower sphincter of the esophagus. But, the sphincter relaxation also occur in normal people. But, there is a difference in postprandial reflux pattens between the patients and the normal people. So, in this study, we want to compare the difference of reflux pattern between the patients who have postprandial reflux symptoms and normal people though the 24hr pH monitoring.
