Ex Vivo Drug Sensitivity Testing and Mutation Profiling
Recurrent Childhood Acute Myeloid LeukemiaRecurrent Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia13 moreThis study is a prospective, non-randomized feasibility study. Freshly isolated tumor cells from patients will be screened using state-of-the-art viability assay designed for ex vivo high-throughput drug sensitivity testing (DST). In addition, genetic information will be obtained from cancer and normal (germline) tissue and correlated with drug response. This study will provide the platform for informing treating physician about individualized treatment options. The main outcome of this study will be the proportions of the patients whose treatment was guided by the personalized medicine approach.

Risk Factors for Recurrence After Pelvic Reconstruction
Pelvic Organ Prolapse232 women underwent transvaginal mesh repair (TVM)with /without transvaginal hysterectomy for symptomatic POP, including group A(accepted herniamesh polypropylene mesh, 117 patients);group B (underwent biological graft of cook,115 patients);follow-ups for six months and one year after the surgery and a questionnaire about the life habits associated with relapse.

NerveTrend vs. i-IONM in Prevention of Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Events During Bilateral Thyroid...
Thyroid DiseasesSurgery1 moreThe aim of this study is to compare two distinct modes of NIM Vital application in thyroid surgery: i-IONM vs. NerveTrend mode with respect to prevalence of early postoperative RLN injury. The hypothesis explored in this study is that NerveTrend mode may be more accurate than conventional i-IONM mode in intraoperative identification of impending neural injury and in prognostication of postoperative glottis function in monitored bilateral thyroid surgery. Hence, NerveTrend mode may be considered a bridge between i-IONM and c-IONM modes, and particularly in health care environments with limited financial resources it can be considered a substantial step forward representing a modern alternative to the c-IONM technique and providing benefits over conventional i-IONM mode. A prospective, randomized study with 2 arms: i-IONM vs. NeveTrend mode (n=132 patients and 264 nerves at risk, each). The primary outcome measure is prevalence of recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) injury (%) on postoperative day 1 assessed by direct laryngoscopy.

Embedded Palliative Care in Managing Symptoms in Participants With Recurrent Stage III-IV Thoracic...
CaregiverMalignant Pleural Neoplasm10 moreThis trial studies how well embedded palliative care works in managing symptoms in participants with stage III-IV thoracic malignancies that has come back and their caregivers. Embedded palliative care may improve distress and anxiety in participants and caregivers.

Non Transplantable Recurrence After Percutaneous Thermal Ablation of HCC
HCCPercutaneous thermal ablation (PTA), resection and liver transplantation (LT) are the standard curative options for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). LT yields the best long-term outcomes but is limited by graft shortage. Thus, patients with ≤3cm HCC are mainly treated by PTA although recurrence is frequent and may occur outside transplant criteria. However, data on non transplantable recurrence (NTR) following PTA are lacking. Therefore, the investigators investigated the incidence and predictors of NTR among transplantable patients with ≤3cm HCC(s) treated by PTA, in order to stratify them according to their NTR risk and to improve treatment allocation.

Using mHealth to Aid Opioid Addicts
Opiate Dependency RelapseThe purpose of the proposed study is perform focus groups to identify and prioritize features of the SubAID application (APP). The SubAID APP is smartphone APP being created to support patients self-managing buprenorphine/naloxone (bup/nal) medication. Many people have difficulty in managing bup/nal in the prescribed manner. Not taking medicines in their prescribed manner can cause negative health outcomes. Focus group participants will be asked to elaborate on medication-taking patterns that work best for them, pitfalls associated with poor adherence and offer opinions upon what features/functions the SubAID APP should perform to be most helpful to them. The focus group is designed to remain open-ended and allow free discussion regarding each particular topic that the moderator will bring up.

Adjuvant Therapy With Thalidomide After Curative Resection of Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Hepatocellular CarcinomaRecurrencePostoperative recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major problem after surgical resection. To date, adjuvant chemotherapy or other adjuvant modalities have not been proven effective in preventing or delaying recurrence. The aim of this prospective randomized study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Thalidomide as a postoperative adjuvant regimen in inhibiting the recurrence of HCC

A Nested Case-control Study on the Secondary Prevention of Ischemic Stroke and TIA by Hypertension...
To Investigate the Relationship Between the Adherence of HHEP After ISTIA and Stroke Recurrence or Cardiovascular Events.Patients with a diagnosis of ischemic stroke or TIA (ISTIA), who are treated at hospital are asked to participate in our pre specified hypertension health education protocol (HHEP) after discharge from our hospital.HHEP was used as secondary prevention treatments of stroke and cardiovascular diseases. HHEP consists of several items such as controlling the patient's hypertension level, monitoring the adherece of antihypertensive agents, reducing risk factors of hytertension like tobacco smoking, obesity, and motivating the patient to physical activity and to a healthy diet. Patients will receive visits by a study nurse with the aim of supervising, monitoring, and recording the adherence of HHEP. The patients will be classified as different adherence level at the end of the study according to their adherence condition. This study is aimed at testing the hypothesis that controlling hypertension and its risk factors was more effective than those do not receive HHEP in reducing the recurrence of stroke and cardiovascular diseases.
