Clinical Analysis of Recurrence Patterns Following Conjunctival Autografts for Pterygium Surgery...
Recurrent PterygiumThis study is conducted to evaluate its morphologic reproliferating patterns in patients with pterygium treated with the excision and conjunctival autograft.
Clinical Predictors for Venous Thromboembolism in Patients With a History of Thrombosis (PREDICTORS)...
Thromboembolic Disease RecurrentDeep Vein Thrombosis3 morePatients with a history of blood clots are at risk of developing additional clots in the future. Doctors use a tool called a clinical decision rule to tell them how likely it is that a patient has a blood clot and if they should have further testing to look for the clot. This tool may cause doctors to over-diagnosis a recurrent clot because the symptoms may be left over from the previous clot. Correctly diagnosing a recurrent blood clot is very important since there are risks associated with both over-diagnosis and under-diagnosis. If a recurrent blood clot is missed (under-diagnosis) the patient is at risk of death from a clot in the lungs. If blood thinners are prescribed when they are not needed (over-diagnosis), the patient may have to take blood thinners for their lifetime and risk having serious bleeding.
Left Atrial Geometry and Outcomes After Atrial Fibrillation Ablation
Atrial FibrillationRecurrenceThis is a Multicenter Observational 1-year retrospective cohort study evaluating the predictive value of the Left Atrial Sphericity on the recurrence rate of atrial fibrillation after pulmonary vein ablation procedure. Inclusion of consecutive patients undergoing AF ablation during 2013 in whom a 3D-imaging of the left atrium (Cardiac CT or MRA) was acquired prior to the procedure and when procedural/follow-up data was prospectively collected.
Description of the Uterine Cavity in Patients With Recurrent Miscarriages
Recurrent MiscarriagesHabitual AbortionsTo be diagnosed with recurrent miscarriages, a couple might have a child, however experiences three or more miscarriages, primarily this happens during the first trimester. These miscarriages often needs medical evacuation or a D & C. Surgery or retained tissue increases the risk of complications as infection and/or adhesions, known as asherman syndrome, which may result in subfertility. Recently chronic infection in the endometrium has been proposed to contribute to the condition, as protocols including treatment with antibiotics have led to birth at term for some of these women. Using the very minimal invasive office hysteroscopy, the investigators aim to describe the uterine cavity in patients diagnosed with recurrent miscarriages regarding both abnormalities in the endometrium and chromic infection.
Effect of Reoperation for Recurrence After Open Umbilical Hernia Repair
Umbilical Herniabackground Operation for small umbilical hernias is one of the most common surgical procedures, but the best surgical technique, including the choice of suture or mesh remains unknown. It is well known that using non-absorbable sutures in closure of the abdomen, diminishes the risk of incisional hernias and wound healing problems. It has also been found that the use of resorbable suture in fixation of the mesh in Lichtesteins procedure leads to greater risk of recurrence of the hernia. Furthermore, it has been stated in smaller studies, that the use of the mesh in open operation for a small umbilical hernia has lower risk of recurrence (approx. 1-3%) than sutured repair (10-12 %). However, the scientific literature is deficient, with few patients. The purpose of this study is to describe reoperation rate of recurrence after small umbilical hernias, depending on choice of sutures in both regular repair and in mesh repair. Hypothesis: sutured repair with non-absorbable suture has lower recurrence rates than with other types of sutures, whereas mesh repair has even lower recurrence rates in small umbilical hernia repairs.
Do Patients With Early Post Operative Recurrence of Pelvic Organ Prolapse Have a Genetic Predisposition?...
Pelvic Organ ProlapseThe objective is to explore the genetic predisposition to early pelvic organ prolapse after adequate surgical repair by exploring the association between pelvic organ prolapse recurrences and certain polymorphisms.
Tuberculosis Recurrence Upon Treatment With Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy
TuberculosisThis is a cohort observational study investigating the rate of tuberculosis (TB) recurrence in adult patients who have completed TB therapy for Pulmonary TB (PTB) and are on highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART).The primary objective of this study is to determine the incidence of TB recurrence in patients on HAART.The study is being conducted at the CAPRISA eThekwini Clinical Research Site (CRS), which is adjacent to the Prince Cyril Zulu Communicable Disease Clinic (PCZCDC), a major urban TB clinic, in Durban, South Africa. No hypotheses will be tested in this study; however, the primary study question will determine the proportion of TB recurrence due to relapse vs. re-infection.The study has enrolled 402 participants
MRI Imaging of Retromuscular Hernia Repair With CICAT Visible®
HerniaRecurrenceThe aim of this study is the visualization of the mesh surface and the confirmation with MRI scan at 1 month and 13 months after standardized retromuscular incisional hernia repair with the visible CICAT mesh (Dynamesh®).
Evaluation of a Psychoeducation Program for Families Caregivers of Schizophrenic Patients : Randomized...
SchizophreniaMental Disorder6 moreThe involvement of family members is crucial and improves the prognosis of psychiatric patients and reinforces therapeutic adherence and reduces the frequency of relapses. For schizophrenia, the scientific literature clearly shows that it's in the interest of the patient to offer to his family a psychoeducational program. Therapeutic education programs are now part of the recommendations of good clinical practice and in the French health through the law n ° 2009-879 of July 21, 2009 on the reform of the hospital and relating to patients, health and territories.
Correlation of Atrial Fibrillation Recurrence After Bipolar Radiofrequency Ablation With microRNA...
Atrial FibrillationThe recurrence rate of atrial fibrillation (AF) after bipolar radiofrequency ablation was about 30%. Besides the factors, left atrium diameter, the duration of AF, NT-proBNP, and ejection fraction(EF), some studies demonstrated that the specific microRNA expression (miRNA1, miRNA19,miRNA23, miRNA409 ) showed the significant change in AF patients compared with normal sinus patients, who underwent catheter ablation. Therefore, the correlation of atrial fibrillation recurrence and above-mentioned microRNA after bipolar radiofrequency ablation remained unclear, although bipolar radiofrequency ablation had high rate of sinus.
