The Effect of Methenamine Hippurate to Reduce Antibiotic Prescribing in Elderly Women With Recurrent...
Recurrent Urinary Tract InfectionRecurrent urinary tract infection (UTI) in elderly women is a major driver of antibiotic prescription. Hence, the question of feasible and appropriate preventive measures are important issues in this field. Methenamine hippurate is frequently prescribed in Norway and Sweden as prophylaxis for recurrent UTI. Methenamine hippurate acts via the production of formaldehyde from hexamine, which in turn acts as a bacteriostatic agent, therefore methenamine hippurate is not defined as an antibiotic. According to a Cochrane review 2012 the rates of adverse events for preventing UTI was low. Although this review showed methenamine hippurate might be effective in preventing UTI in the short term, there is a need for large well-conducted randomised controlled trial (RCT) to clarify both the safety and effectivity of preventive methenamine hippurate for longer term use. This is particularly important for longer term use for people without neuropathic bladder disorders. A Norwegian longitudinal observational study including women aged 50-80 years with recurrent UTI indicated a significant and large reduction of more than 50% in antibiotic prescriptions for UTI after start of prophylactic methenamine hippurate. This further strengthens the need for an RCT of methenamine hippurate as prophylaxis for recurrent UTI.
Phase 2 Multi-center Randomized Study to the Efficacy and Safety of AK105 Combined With Anrotinib...
Recurrent/Refractory Classical Hodgkin's LymphomaThis study is a single arm, open, multi center phase II exploratory study. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of AK105 combined with androtinib hydrochloride capsule in patients with relapsed/refractory classical Hodgkin's lymphoma (relapse or progression after autologous stem cell transplantation, or relapse progression after autologous stem cell transplantation but ≥ 1 line systemic multi drug combination chemotherapy). After screening, the subjects met the inclusion criteria and did not meet the exclusion criteria, and then entered the treatment period. They received AK105 injection (once every three weeks, 200mg/time, intravenous infusion) combined with androtinib hydrochloride capsule (once a day, 10mg each time, and stopped for one week for two consecutive weeks). Every 21 days was a treatment cycle until disease progression/intolerance occurred or the sponsor terminated the study. Patients with complete remission (CR) continue to receive 4 cycles of treatment, and then further consolidate treatment every 9 weeks within 1 year of continuous CR, and can stop treatment after 1 year of continuous CR. At the end of the trial, the subjects who can still benefit from the study treatment as judged by the investigator will continue to be provided with the trial drug. The longest administration time of AK105 combined with androtinib hydrochloride capsules shall not exceed 2 years.
Efficacy of Aponeurectomy on the 2-year Recurrence Rate of Dupuytren's Disease
Dupuytren's DiseaseDupuytren's disease is a frequent hereditary disease in Northern Europe. It is a degenerative disease affecting the palmar aponeurosis of the hand. It develops a progressive contractile fibrosis which cuts the hypodermic fatty tissue, adheres to the skin and the phalanges, gradually bending the affected rays, resulting in significant functional impotence. Various medical and surgical treatments are available.
Prevention of Postoperative Endoscopic Recurrence With Endoscopy-driven Versus Systematic Biological...
Crohn DiseaseWith this prospective, randomized, multicentre, parallel group pragmatic non-inferiority trial, the investigators will evaluate if endoscopy-driven introduction of biological therapy is not leading to more postoperative endoscopic recurrence at week 86 compared to systematic prophylactic biological therapy in patients with CD undergoing an ileocolonic resection with ileocolonic anastomosis. Secondary analyses will include influence on clinical, biological and surgical CD recurrence, serious adverse events, direct costs, work productivity, and quality of life. If the investigators can demonstrate the non-inferiority of an endoscopy-driven approach, this patient-tailored management could be advocated, while a more expensive systematic introduction of biological therapies could be limited. Finally, endoscopic images provided through the SOPRANO CD study, will be used to develop a new scoring system evaluating postoperative endoscopic recurrence.

Anakinra in Preventing Severe Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell Related Encephalopathy Syndrome in...
Diffuse Large B-Cell LymphomaNot Otherwise Specified10 moreThis phase II trial studies how well anakinra works in preventing severe chimeric antigen receptor T-cell-related encephalopathy syndrome after chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy in patients with large B-cell lymphoma that has come back or has not responded to treatment. Immunosuppressive therapy, such as anakinra, is used to decrease the body?s immune response, which may prevent severe chimeric antigen receptor T-cell-related encephalopathy syndrome.
A Vaccine (CIMAvax-EGF) for the Prevention of Lung Cancer Development or Recurrence
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseLung Non-Small Cell Carcinoma6 moreThis early phase I trial studies the side effects of a vaccine called CIMAvax-EGF and to see how well it works in preventing lung cancer from developing in patients at high risk for lung cancer or coming back (recurrence) in stage IB-IIIA non-small cell lung cancer survivors. In many cancers such as lung cancer, there is a protein receptor called EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) that is overexpressed within these cancers. Activation of EGFR has shown to lead to tumor growth and development. Previous studies have indicated that EGFR activation is present in the airways of cancer-free subjects as well. CIMAvax-EGF vaccine works by causing the body to make antibodies against EGF that is being produced that could be possibly driving the risk for developing cancer.
Study of Diagnostic Performance of [18F]CTT1057 in BCR
Prostatic NeoplasmsProstate Cancer1 moreThe current study aims at evaluating the diagnostic performance of [18F]CTT1057 as a PET imaging agent for detection and localization of PSMA positivity in patients diagnosed of biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer (PCa), using a composite truth standard. Approximately 190 participants will be enrolled to ensure at least 152 participants are evaluable (i.e. have both an evaluable [18F]CTT1057 PET/CT scan imaging, and at least one evaluable CTS assessment and have not received any prohibited systemic antineoplastic therapy before the completion of PET/CTs and CTS procedures), which will be required for the calculation of the co-primary endpoints.
PSMA-PET Registry for Recurrent Prostate Cancer
Recurrent Prostate CancerThis study aims to institute a province-wide registry leveraging the availability of a new Positron Emission Tomography tracer, [18F]-DCFPyL and PET expertise across Ontario centers to improve our ability to characterize patterns of recurrence and personalize therapies in men with recurrent prostate cancer after primary treatment.
