Extracellular Vesicles as Biomarkers for Chronic Renal Failure

Chronic Renal FailureUrinary Extracellular Vesicle

The recent discovery of extracellular vesicles (EV) as a mechanism of intercellular communication has made it possible to develop a new field of health research and could bring new information on the pathological mechanisms of renal diseases. Definition of physiologic and pathologic values of urinary extracellular vesicles (EVu) between healthy subjects and chronic kidney diseases (CKD) patients could be a new tool for follow up of renal diseases. EV are found in all biological fluids including urine, that's why they are increasingly analyzed in renal pathologies. The main objective of this study is to determine the physiological values and the pathological thresholds of EVu.

Treatment Choice and Outcomes for ESRD: Evidence From the First Year of a Nationwide Randomized...

End Stage Renal Disease

The investigators plan to analyze the first year of a nationwide randomized-controlled trial of end stage renal disease (ESRD) treatment choice model (ETC). This mandatory-participation program was designed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and randomization was conducted at the hospital referral region (HRR) level. 95 HRRs were assigned to the treatment group beginning in January 2021. The investigators will study the impact of this program in the first year on treatment modality choice for ESRD and explore heterogeneity in impact across patients and providers.

Meals MATTER: A Trial of Medically Tailored Meals 2 Weeks vs. 4 Weeks Post Hospital Discharge

Heart FailureCopd4 more

The purpose of this study is to determine if medically tailored meals provided for either 2 weeks or 4 weeks (1 meal per day) to a Kaiser Permanente Colorado (KPCO) member after hospital discharge will improve their health. Medically tailored meals (MTM) are meals that are approved by a dietitian and shown to help people with certain health conditions.

Erythropoiesis Stimulating Agents for Anemia Management in Egyptian Hemodialysis Patients

Anemia of Chronic Kidney DiseaseChronic Renal Failure1 more

This observational study aims to compare long-acting darbepoetin alpha versus short-acting epoetin alpha erythropoietin-stimulating agents in Egyptian hemodialysis patients. The main questions aim to answer are: What are the effectiveness and safety of long- acting versus short-acting erythropoietin-stimulating agents in Egyptian hemodialysis patients? What is the cost-effectiveness of long- acting versus short-acting erythropoietin-stimulating agents in Egyptian hemodialysis patients? Participants will be divided into 2 groups; epoetin alfa (short-acting ESA), Eprex group, and darbepoetin alfa (long-acting ESA), Aranesp group for six month study period.

SOCIABLE Seniors Optimizing Community Integration to Advance Better Living With ESRD

ESRDSocial Behavior1 more

This research is being done to find out the best ways to help people with end stage kidney disease take care of their daily lives and improve their social functioning. Investigators want to learn whether services in the Community Aging in Place, Advancing Better Living for Elders (CAPABLE) study such as help with medications, muscle strengthening, balance training, pain management, changes to houses and improved social support can be tailored to fit the needs of older adults with kidney disease to help improve their ability to balance, walk, and take care of themselves. People aged 60 years and older who have end stage kidney disease and have been receiving dialyses for at least 6 months, may join.

Study of High Sensitive Troponin-I Level in End-stage Renal Disease Patients Receiving Hemodialysis...

End-stage Renal Disease

This study objective is to compare the high sensitive troponin-I level in end-stage renal disease patients received hemodialysis without acute cardiovascular event with healthy population. The investigators also determine the effect of hemodialysis on troponin I level as the secondary objective.

Multimodal Therapeutic Approach in Undernourished Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients (AMERICANO)...

Chronic Kidney Failure

The aim of the study is to evaluate a 3 months integrated multimodal therapeutic approach including exercise training program with ergocycle during dialysis sessions, oral nutritional supplementation, omega 3 and androgen, on effort tolerance and quality of life of under-nourish maintenance hemodialysis Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patient.

Observational Study to Evaluate the Time to Achieving the Maintenance Dose of Zemplar® (Paricalcitol...

Kidney FailureChronic

This observational study will evaluate the clinical benefit of Zemplar (paricalcitol injection) in daily routine practice in end-stage renal disease patients with severe over-reactivity of parathyroid glands. Participants will be followed for 6 months. Data will be collected from participants initiated on Zemplar therapy according to standard of care. The time to achieving the maintenance dose of Zemplar (paricalcitol injection), the proportion of participants achieving target parathyroid hormone levels, and prevalence of elevated serum calcium and phosphate levels will be evaluated.
