AUSTrian Randomized Interventional Study on Dialysis Accesses

End Stage Renal DiseaseCatheter Infection1 more

Patients with diagnosed end stage renal disease and indication for chronic dialysis rely on a well-functioning access for dialysis. The KDOQI Guidelines For Vascular Access follows a "fistula first" approach for every patient, whenever possible. Thus, every patient, regardless of age, clinical state and co-morbidities an arteriovenous fistula should be preferred over a tunneled cuffed catheter (TCC). These recommendations are based on retrospective and register studies. There have been no prospective studies in this subject so far. In addition, most of the collected data refers to patients of all ages, regardless of their comorbidities and general clinical state. In this study, we address differences between two dialysis vascular access types in elderly or frail patients. We will compare TCCs with arteriovenous fistulas in the selected population consisting of elderly patients over 60 years of age or those with a Charlson Comorbidity Index >6 independent of age. In our hypothesis TCCs will be superior to arteriovenous fistulas in this population regarding the examined end-points.

The Correlation Between Gut Microbiome/Metabolite and End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)

Kidney FailureChronic

The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences of gut Microbiome/Metabolite between ESRD patients and healthy subjects. Two hundred and twenty three hemodialysis patients and 70 healthy subjects are recruited, and a cross-sectional study is performed.

DIETary Intake, Death and Hospitalization in Adult With End-stage Kidney Disease Treated With HemoDialysis...

Diet HabitEnd Stage Renal Disease

The DIETary intake, death and hospitalisation in adults with end-stage kidney disease treated with HaemoDialysis (DIET-HD) study is a multinational prospective cohort study designed to evaluate the association between nutrition and dietary patterns and health outcomes in prevalent adult haemodialysis patients in Europe and South America.

Telemonitoring Impact by the ApTelecare Software in Dialysis Patient

Chronic Renal FailureDialysis Related Complication

The investigators proposed to conduct a retrospective study to evaluate the impact of the implementation of apTeleCare software on the management of dialysis patients at home in terms of the number and duration of hospitalizations. For this purpose, the investigators will compare patients' data over a 2-year interval before the introduction of Telemonitoring (January 2012 and December 2013 inclusive - Group 1) with patients data who have benefited from this application (between August 2016 and July 2018).

Blood Volume Analysis and Renal Outcomes in Hemodialysis

End Stage Renal Failure on DialysisActual Impaired Fluid Volume1 more

The objective of the proposed study is to demonstrate that serial blood volume analysis (BVA) using RI-BVA (BVA-100, Daxor, NY) can be used to guide changes in prescription of dry weight for hemodialysis patients. The knowledge of a patient's ideal BV and degree of hypervolemia using these measurements can be used to change the prescription of DW in an objective way instead of the current standard of practice, which is based on subjective prescription of dry weight. A first study was conducted to determine the rate of plasma volume (PV) re-expansion for each patient as a guide to rate of fluid removal (results published, refer to citations). A second study was conducted in order to assess the value of a BVA measurement in guiding prescription of clinical DW. A follow up BVA would then be done in order to check if patients were closer to ideal BV than prior to changing dry weight.

Study of the Prevalence of Iron Deficiency in Patients With Chronic Renal Failure But Non-Dialysis...

Chronic Kidney Diseases

Despite its known prevalence, a recent study conducted with Prof. Cacoub (unpublished) on the national health insurance database showed that iron deficiency was a poorly diagnosed and poorly treated comorbidity. In patients with Chronic Kidney Disease but Non-Dialysis, the determination of Ferritinemia and Transferrin Saturation Factoris performed in only 30% and 10% of cases whereas they should be performed routinely in inflammatory situations and in case of anemia (HAS 2011, KDIGO 2012). The objective of this study is to obtain updated data on the prevalence of iron deficiency in France in patients with CKD-ND, applying the international recommendations and those of the French Health High Authority (determination of ferritinemia and Transferrin Saturation Factor).

Intrarater and Interrater Reliability Physical Function Measures in HD BCN

End Stage Renal Disease on Dialysis

The investigators will calculate values of absolute and relative reliability for intrarater reliability when the measures are taken during a hemodialysis treatment day and during a non-dialysis day. Interrater reliability between two different observers will be also calculated
