Glucose in Dialysis Water in Diabetics With Chronic Renal Failure

Renal FailureChronic1 more

The purposes are 1. to measure the effect of dialysis with glucose in dialysis water on blood pressure, pulse rate, plasma concentration of glucose, plasma concentrations og insulin, glucagon, growth hormone, renin, angiotensin II, endothelin and body temperature, and 2. to analyse the relationship between the changes in blood pressure and changes in vasoactive hormones

A Safety and Efficacy Study of a Single or Double Dose of HEPLISAV™ Hepatitis B Vaccine in Adults...

Hepatitis B

The purpose of this study is to find out if a new investigational hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccine, HEPLISAV™, is safe and effective for end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients. Two dose levels will be studied: a single dose and a double dose. We expect both dose levels to safely immunize patients against HBV. The study will determine which dose does this best.

Carbonaceous Oral Adsorbent's Effects on Progression of Chronic Kidney Disease

Kidney FailureChronic

The CAP-KD trial is a prospective, multicenter, randomized, open-label, two-arm, parallel group comparison clinical trial and will be conducted as a researcher-directed study to assess the efficacy of Kremezin in preventing the progression of CKD. We compare two groups of patients: those receiving conventional treatment alone and those receiving such treatment paired with Kremezin.

Sitagliptin Versus Glipizide in Participants With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and End-Stage Renal Disease...

Diabetes MellitusType 21 more

The purpose of the study is to compare sitagliptin and glipizide in lowering blood sugar in participants with type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and end-stage renal disease on dialysis who do not have adequate glycemic control.

Impact of Providing High Protein Bar to Dialysis Patients With Low Serum Albumin

End Stage Renal DiseaseHypoalbuminemia1 more

This study is to evaluate the impact of providing high protein supplementation in the form of a medical food bar containing 20grams of protein eath to hypoalbuminemic dialysis patients.

Anabolic Steroids and Exercise in Hemodialysis Patients

End-Stage Renal DiseaseMuscle Weakness

This is a study to find out whether an exercise program during dialysis or a drug called nandrolone decanoate can increase muscle size and strenght in patients on dialysis.

The Effects of Cool Dialysate on the Sleep/Wake Cycle in Patients on Chronic Hemodialysis - "The...

End-stage Renal Disease

A major component of this study is to test a novel application for a safe, non-pharmacologic, cost-effective intervention that is already in use in clinical practice - using cool dialysate during hemodialysis to help stabilize the sleep/wake cycle of chronic hemodialysis patients. We will also evaluate its effects on selected sleep-related physiologic, psychological, behavioral, and general health outcomes.

Provision of Antioxidant Therapy in Hemodialysis (PATH) Study

End-stage Renal Disease

Studies have shown that end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients have higher levels of blood markers which their body makes in response to increased stress and injury. An increase in these markers have been shown to be related to cardiovascular disease and death in ESRD patients. This study will examine whether antioxidant therapy (Vitamin E and alpha lipoic acid) may decrease these markers.

Peginesatide for Anemia in Chronic Hemodialysis Patients

AnemiaChronic Kidney Disease1 more

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, pharmacodynamics (PD), and pharmacokinetics (PK) of multiple intravenous doses of peginesatide in participants with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who are on hemodialysis.
