In this study the investigators would like to study systemic and regional disturbances in patients with sepsis-associated acute kidney injury and in healthy controls undergoing laparoscopic abdominal surgery. Specifically study metabolic, hemodynamic and oxygen transport variables.

Thrombotic microangiopathies (TMAs) are a diverse, rare but serious group of diseases. Progress has been made regarding the epidemiology of TMA (Bayer CJASN 2019). It has been shown that secondary TMAs account for 95% of cases, whereas primary TMAs (atypical hemolytic syndromes (HUS) and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP)) account for only about 5%. However, in many cases, the pathophysiology, optimal management and prognosis of TMA remains unclear and it has been shown that patients with TMA may have renal-limited TMA or renal and hematological TMA (ie. With (mechanical anemia, thrombocytopenia, elevated LDH, decreased haptoglobin, schistocytes). In most studies, kidney biopsies are not performed and the diagnostic workup is uncomplete. As this is a rare disease, only a multicenter approach (>20 centers) over a long period of time (>10 years), with adequate diagnostic workup including kidney biopsies can help us to answer these questions (investigators in the present are usually members of the CNR-MAT (a network of the TMA centers in France).

The investigators attempted to investigate the association of the type of crystalloid administered during liver transplantation with postoperative clinical outcomes. The investigators hypothesized that the greater amount of normal saline or half-saline administered during liver transplantation might be associated with the increased risk of acute kidney injury compared to the balanced crystalloids.

early differential diagnosis of anticipated acute kidney injury via ultrasound renal resistive index calculation

The goal of this observational study is to observe the correlation between dynamic changes in the Doppler-based renal resistive index (RI) and the occurrence of persistent acute kidney injury (AKI) in critically ill patients. The main questions it aims to answer are: Are dynamic changes of RI within 24 or 48 hours associated with the prognosis of AKI (NO AKI, transient AKI, persistent AKI)? what are the influencing factors of changes in RI? Participants will measure values of RI in patients at admission (0 hour), after 24 hours and after 48 hours, respectively, and collect characters such as age, sex, vital signs, Apache II, diagnosis, renal function, applied drugs, fluid, 72-hour renal function and renal replacement, followed renal replacement and the mortality rate at 28 days.

To determine if ultrasound measurement of renal and carotid arterial resistive indices are associated with post-cardiac surgery acute kidney injury.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common, but significant complication after elective surgery which is associated with an increased risk of mortality, major adverse cardiac events, prolonged length of hospital stay, and increased cost per episode of care.

The investigators propose to conduct a nationwide (Nigeria), prospective, non-interventional cohort study describing the clinical course, biological characteristics, case management and outcomes in patients hospitalized for a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of Lassa fever in tertiary medical facilities situated in the most affected Nigerian states. Special focuses will be made on situations at risk of bad outcome such as pregnancies, acute kidney injury and electrolytic imbalance in patients with confirmed Lassa fever. Participants for which the diagnosis of Lassa fever will be finally excluded by reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) will constitute the control group.
