The purpose of the study is to evaluate the potential role of plasmatic Fibroblast Growth Factor 23 (FGF-23) as a prognosis predictor of clinical outcomes in Critical Care patients.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the signs of nephronic reduction in preterm infants who have presented neonatal acute renal failure. The investigators hypothesize that signs of nephronic reduction would appear earlier in former preterm with neonatal acute renal failure than in control preterm infants.

Critically ill patients in the intensive care unit often receive continuous hemodialysis to treat their kidney failure. Ertapenem is an antibiotic often used in these patients. Continuous dialysis may remove ertapenem, putting patients at risk for inappropriate treatment of their infection. This study will determine how much ertapenem is removed by continuous hemodialysis.

Preoperative serum cholesterol level may influence occurrence of postoperative acute kidney injury of cardiac surgeries. However, the effect of Preoperative serum cholesterol level for non cardiac surgery remains unknown. This study aimed to explore the effect in non-cardiac surgical population.

In a double-blinded randomized clinical trial, all patients undergoing coronary artery catheterization who will met our criteria, will be enrolled into three groups to receive either, vitamin e, n-acetylcysteine, or placebo. The renal Doppler resistive index (RRI) is a noninvasive tool that has been used to assess renal perfusion in the intensive care unit (ICU) setting. Many parameters have been described as influential on the values of renal RI. Mechanical ventilation is associated with significant increases in the risk of acute kidney injury (AKI). Ventilator-induced kidney injury (VIKI) is believed to occur due to changes in hemodynamics that impair renal perfusion. The investigators hypothesized that patients who need mechanical ventilation should have a different response in RRI when different levels of Positive end expiratory pressure (PEEP) are applied. Investigators wish to describe changing in RRI due to changes in PEEP and to verify whether these changes could partially explain the occurrence of VIKI

The investigators want to investigate if the urinary biomarker neprilysin can identify cardiac surgical patients suffering from postoperative AKI within 24 hours.

To investigate the relationship of tissue oxygenation of different organs and tissue beds (e.g., a tissue bed on the arm vs. leg vs. flank tissue bed(s) and renal tissue bed, and thus can be used as a surrogate of renal tissue oxygenation monitoring.
