PF-04634817 Renal Impairment Study
Renal InsufficiencyPatients with renal impairment are the target population for PF-04634817. The clearance mechanism of this drug means that exposure may be increased in subjects with renal impairment. This study will investigate the effect of the drug in subjects with varying degrees of renal impairment. Pharmacokinetics, safety and toleration will be assessed.
Pharmacokinetics and Safety of POL7080 in Patients With Renal Impairment
Renal ImpairmentTo investigate the pharmacokinetics (PK) of POL7080 in subjects with renal function impairment after single intravenous (IV) infusion of POL7080
Population Pharmacokinetic (PK) Study of Multiple Doses of Cubicin® (Daptomycin) 10 mg/kg in Critical...
Renal FailureCritical Care1 moreTreatment of infections in critically ill patients remains a significant challenge to intensivists world-wide with persisting high mortality and morbidity. Compelling evidence suggests that source control of the pathogen and appropriate antibiotic therapy remain the most important interventions to improve patients' outcome, the latter including the administration of a suitable molecule at an optimized dosage regimen. Daptomycin is the first representative of a new family of antibiotics, the cyclic lipopeptides. Its bactericidal effect against Gram-positive bacteria, including meticillin-resistant strains, and its low renal toxicity, make it a useful antibiotic in critically ill patients having infections due to resistant Gram positive strains. Unfortunately, no PK study has been performed in infected critically ill patients without renal replacement therapy. A vast array of pathophysiological changes can occur in infected critically ill patients, leading to changes in volume of distribution and clearance of antibiotics in these patients, which may affect the antibiotic concentration at the target site. It is therefore important to better characterize daptomycin PK in infected patients with various degrees of renal failure in order to define optimal dosing regimens. This project aims to identify optimal daptomycin administration schemes in critical care patients with various degrees of renal impairment

Educational Programme Impact on Serum Phosphate Control
Renal InsufficiencyChronicBackground: In Chronic Kidney Disease patients, it is crucial to begin treatment as soon as possible in order to minimize the complication-related risks. Encouraging patients to adhere to their treatment plans is a great challenge for health care professionals. Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of a nutrition educational programme on the hyperphosphatemia using the transtheoretical model of eating behavior. Subjects and Methods: A prospective Interventional study is being conducted in a dialysis centre with 180 stage 5D Chronic Kidney Disease patients who exhibit phosphate serum levels > 5.5 mg/dL. The educational intervention consists of lectures and group dynamics sessions performed during dialysis sessions. Anthropometric, clinical, demographic and laboratory parameters (serum phosphorus concentration will be evaluated and the transtheoretical model of eating behavior (TMFB) will be applied pre- and post-intervention.
Dual Transversus Abdominis Plane Block in Pediatric Renal Transplant: Effect on Pain Control
Renal FailureAlleviating pain in children undergoing renal transplant is extremely challenging. Large incisions as those of renal transplant (Gibson's incision) require special techniques of pain control that don't affect hemodynamics or renal function. Since the transplant incision doesn't cross midline; a dual-TAP block is thought to be effective in providing pain control in such procedure as it will anesthetize the dermatomes T6-T12, the muscles of the anterior abdominal wall together with the underlying parietal peritoneum.
Intradialytic Exercises During Hemodialysis
Kidney FailureChronicAim. To investigate the effect of an intradialytic aerobic and resistance cycling exercise program (IARCEP) on depression, fatigue, and quality of life (QOL) in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients receiving haemodialysis, and further determine the effect of mediation through self-efficacy and resilience in patients receiving the IARCEP. Background. Depression and fatigue are common in ESRD patients undergoing haemodialysis, which negatively affects their QOL. Exercise can mitigate this effect. Patient's self-efficacy and resilience may be crucial mediators in exercise. Design. This study was a randomised controlled trial. Method. Seventy-six participants were randomly assigned to either a control or exercise group. Both groups received routine care; whereas the exercise group participated the 3- months IARCEP. Data were collected at baseline, the first, second, and third months, over a 14 months in 2013-2014.

Renal InsufficiencyThe main purpose of this study is to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK) of a single oral dose of odalasvir (ODV) in participants with severe renal impairment and compare with the PK in matched participants with normal renal function.
The Effect of Three Endourological Procedures for the Management of Renal Calculi Regarding Acute...
Renal CalculiRenal InsufficiencyThe main aim of the study is to investigate and compare the possible acute effect of standard PCNL, mini-PCNL and RIRS on renal function. Secondary aims are to investigate the efficacy (stone-free rate), safety (complication rate, long-term kidney function) and other parameters (operation, fluoroscopy and hospitalization time) concerning the 3 endourological operations (PCNL, mini- PCNL, RIRS) for the treatment of renal calculi.
