Effect of Acupuncture on Vascular Biomarkers and Psychological Well-Being of Women Undergoing IVF...

Infertility

Experimental Approach: (1) Participants: Women (ages 21 to 42) who seek IVF treatment at the Center for Fertility & Reproductive Surgery will be eligible for the study. Seventy women will be recruited and randomly assigned to either the intervention (acupuncture plus standard care) or the comparison (standard care alone) group. (2) Intervention: Participants in the intervention group will receive 3 acupuncture sessions during the project with the first treatment between day 6-8 of the stimulated IVF cycle, second on the day of embryo transfer and the third one day post transfer. Participants in the comparison group will receive no intervention but will receive standard care. (3) Measures: The primary outcome measures include prostacyclin and thromboxane vasoactive biomarkers. Secondary outcome measures include perceived stress levels. (4) Procedure: Upon IRB approval, an informed consent will be provided to all participants. Pre- and post- acupuncture urinary metabolites of prostacyclin and thromboxane will be assessed. A standardized Perceived Stress Scale will be administered before and after each acupuncture session for the study group, and before and after a 30-40-minute waiting period for the control group.

Impact of Local Biopsy to the Endometrium Prior to Controlled Ovarian Stimulation on Clinical Pregnancy...

Primary or Secondary Infertility

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is the only available solution for many couples with various forms of infertility. The embryo implantation step in the IVF procedure is a complex multistage process and represents the majority of the causes of the IVF failure. Several approaches have been evaluated to improve implantation rates but none has demonstrated its superiority. However, endometrial receptivity is important for pregnancy and several studies suggest that local injury to the endometrium of IVF patients improves the rates of embryo implantation, clinical pregnancy and live birth.

THE EFFECT OF COGNITIVE AWARENESS SUPPORT ON THE PSYCHOSOCIAL STATUS OF WOMEN TREATED FOR INFERTILITY...

InfertilityInfertility1 more

Aim: With the project, mobile application supported cognitive awareness applications in women receiving infertility treatment; The aim of this study was to measure the effect of infertile women on their psychosocial status. Method: It was planned as a randomized controlled study. It was aimed to reduce stress and increase awareness by applying mindfulness/cognitive awareness to women undergoing infertility treatment. For this reason, special mindfulness suggestions were created for infertile women by taking the opinion of an expert in the field. Mindfulness suggestions created specifically for women with infertility were recorded. The recordings were varied according to the treatment stages, with an average duration of 40 minutes. These audio recordings were presented with a mobile application developed for infertile women. The mobile application called IVFMind was designed for infertile women. The application consists of mindfulness audio recordings and reading sections. The experimental group (n:17) installed this application on their phones and listened to the audio recordings regularly. Cognitive awareness (BIFO), depression-anxiety (DASS 21), infertility self-efficacy and fertility adjustment scales were administered to the experimental and control groups (N:34). Scales were done as pre-test and post-test. The mobile application evaluation form was filled in the experimental group.

InfertilityStress1 more

In this study; In this study, it is aimed to determine the stress level and the effect of the mandala activity, which is applied to two different musical accompaniments, on coping with stress in infertile women who have undergone embryo transfer. The research was carried out as a randomized controlled experimental study with women who had embryo transfer at Private Samsun Medicana International Hospital IVF Center and Private Samsun VM Medical Park Hospital IVF Center between 01.07.2021 and 31.07.2022. Introductory Information Form, Infertility Stress Scale (PSS), and Infertility Stress Coping Scale (PSSS) were applied to intervention groups with embryo transfer. The intervention group started right after the embryo transfer and performed a mandala activity accompanied by music or meditation music of their own choosing until the day before the BetaHcg test, and the ISS and PSS were repeated one day before the BetaHcg test. Both groups were provided with the application for at least 7-10 days. After embryo transfer to the control group, Introductory Information Form, PSS and PSS were applied, and PSS and PSS were repeated one day before the BetaHCG test, and no intervention was made other than routine practices.
