Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Supplementation Prior to In-vitro Fertilization Treatment in Poor Responders...

Infertility

In an era of delayed fertility plans, there is increasing need for fertility treatment in older women with poor response. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) supplementation prior to treatment, as a thecal stimulant, may improve folliculogenesis and ovarian response.

Exploring Semi-Quantitative Pregnancy Tests and Their Impact on Reproductive Health Service Provision...

Infertility

This study will examine the feasibility, practicality, utility and usability of a semi-quantitative urine pregnancy test (dBest One Step hCG Panel Test Kit) recently approved by the food and drug administration (FDA) for both Professional (physician office) and over-the-counter (consumer) use. The study seeks to: Assess the correlation of this pregnancy test results with serum values (as distinct from urine) hCG. Assess whether or not time of day of urine collection has any impact on the outcome of the dBest test. Assess user comprehension of the pregnancy test, especially assessment of the result.

Randomized Population-Based Study on Chlamydia Trachomatis Screening

Chlamydia TrachomatisInfertility1 more

30,000 individuals living in Aarhus County, Denmark by Oct 1997 were randomized into two groups. The intervention group received an invitation to be tested for urogenital Chlamydia trachomatis by use of home-obtained and mailed sample (9,000 individuals). The control group received no intervention (21,000 individuals). Outcome measures: Number of tested individuals, number of detected infections, number of women developing PID, ectopic pregnancy or infertility, number of women giving birth to a child, number of women receiving IVF treatment and number of men developing epididymitis. The hypothesis was that more individuals would be tested and treated for infections and that number of long term fertility complications would decline in the intervention group compared to control group.

Endometrial Sampling (Pipelle)in IVF Patients

Infertility

A prospective cross-over randomized study aimed to test the hypothesis that local injury of the endometrium increases the implantation rate in the successive cycle. Seventy IVF patients will be randomly selected to undergo either endometrial biopsies or minimal cervical scratch on days 8-10 and 21-23 of their cycle, preceding the IVF treatment. If not pregnant, the women will continue for another IVF cycle, preceded by endometrial or cervical scratch complimentary to their procedure in the first cycle. The main major outcomes will include pregnancy rate, implantation rate, endometrial thickness, abortion rate, live births and embryo quality.

Endometrial Curettage Before Embryo Transfer

Infertility

Studies have shown that endometrial sampling in the month prior to embryo transfer may increase pregnancy rates. We wish to test this hypothesis by performing a hysteroscopy and curettage in the month proceeding embryo transfer during IVF, IVF/ICSI or Frozen/Thawed cycles.

Endometrial Biopsy in Infertile Patients

Infertility

When a woman becomes pregnant, the fertilized egg attaches itself to the lining of the uterus (endometrium). The endometrium is constantly changing throughout a woman's menstrual cycle in response to the female hormones estrogen and progesterone. The endometrium must have certain characteristics (be at a specific phase in its cycle) in order for the fertilized egg to successfully attach. Infertility may be caused by an "out of phase" endometrium (i.e., the endometrium doesn't have the right characteristics when the fertilized egg reaches it). The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether the endometrial biopsy is useful in predicting the potential for becoming pregnant and bearing a child.

EmbryoGlue as an Embryo Transfer Medium

Infertility

In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) is an increasingly common treatment for infertility. Clinics which offer IVF are continuously trying to improve their success rates, measured by the numbers of IVF cycles which result in the birth of a live baby. One factor which is thought to have contributed to the success of IVF is the improvements in the embryo culture media, that is, the fluid in which the embryo resides in the laboratory before being replaced into a woman's womb. This trial seeks to identify if IVF cycles in which a particular culture media called EmbryoGlue is used have better results when compared to IVF cycles in which a conventional embryo transfer media is used.

Uterine Transplant in Absolute Uterine Infertility (AUIF)

Female Infertility

This study will examine the feasibility of initiating a uterine transplant program for Absolute Uterine Factor Infertility (AUFI) at Brigham and Women's Hospital. The investigators plan to screen 30 patients with a goal of enrolling 10 patients. (5 donors and 5 recipients) After careful screening, appropriate candidates will undergo IVF, Uterine Transplantation, Embryo Transfer, Pregnancy and Delivery. Once the uterus is explanted, five years of follow-up is planned.

Reproductive Outcome of EM Treated by GnRH-a Associated With Laparoscopy

Infertility Associated With Endometriosis

This study is a multicenter, randomized-control-trial. This study select 1184 Infertile patients associated with endometriosis diagnosed by laparoscopy surgery. Patients are going to be divided into two groups according to 1:1 ratio randomly assigned to receive GnRH-a. Cumulative pregnancy rate, end of treatment to natural pregnancy time, accept the assisted reproductive treatment rate, miscarriage rate, live birth rate will be recorded.
