Akathisia in Post Operative Outpatients Surgery

Akathisia

The main objective of this study is to evaluate the incidence of akathisia with Droperidol, the prophylactic treatment of post operative nausea and vomiting, used at two different doses, versus control group (Ondansetron), in outpatient surgery. The primary endpoint is to compare the number of observed akathisia (Barnes score > 1) in the Droperidol arms (0,625 mg and 1,25 mg) versus Ondansetron 4 hours after recovery from anesthesia. The assumption is that there is a greater risk of akathisia among patients taking Droperidol in prevention of NPVO, that among patients taking Ondansetron.

Restless Legs Syndrome Exercise Intervention

Restless Legs SyndromeInsomnia

A pilot study of an aerobic exercise intervention to moderate symptoms and improve sleep quality among patients with Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). We, the researchers at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, hypothesize that, relative to a control group, RLS sufferers who participate in an aerobic exercise intervention will demonstrate: reduced RLS symptoms; improved sleep quality; reduced daytime sleepiness.

Agitation and Aggressivity in Alzheimer's Disease Patients: A Cohort Study

Alzheimer Disease

General Hypothesis: hypothesize that A / A symptoms of AD follow a particular course, influenced by associated factors, and a prospective longitudinal observational study specifically evaluating A / A symptoms in patients with MA, living in an institution and at home, would provide useful data for both clinical practice and research. Specific Hypothesis: hypothesize that in patients with AD with clinically significant A / A there is a correlation between assessment of A / A severity based on specific scales of A / A and overall impression assessment of clinical improvement or worsening of these symptoms by the clinician.

Comparison of Ketamine-propofol Combinations

AgitationPostoperative Pain

ASA I-II 3-12 years old children participated to this study. All Participants will divide into the three groups. In Groups I, 2,5 mg/kg propofol and 0,5 mg/kg ketamine will apply at anaesthesia induction. General anaesthesia will be performed with 5/1 ratio of ketamine-propofol mixture with %67 of Mcfarlan dose regiment. In Groups II, 2,75 mg/kg propofol and 0,41 mg/kg ketamine will apply at anaesthesia induction. General anaesthesia will be performed with 6,7/1 ratio of ketamine-propofol mixture with %80 of Mcfarlan dose regiment. In Groups III, 3 mg/kg propofol and 0,3 mg/kg ketamine will apply at anaesthesia induction. General anaesthesia will be performed with 10/1 ratio of ketamine-propofol mixture with %90 of Mcfarlan dose regiment. After than surgical operation recovery time, PAED scores, FLACC scores, Staying time in PACU will be recorded. These data will be evaluated with statistically.

Emergence Agitation After Nasal Surgery: a Randomized Controlled Comparison Between Melatonin and...

Agitation

Emergence agitation (EA) is common after nasal surgery under general anesthesia, which can lead to several problems, such as increased risk of injury to the patient or medical staff, pain, decreased patient satisfaction, hemorrhage, re-bleeding at the operation site and unplanned self-extubation. Melatonin is an oral or sublingual medication, most commonly used for insomnia and improving sleep in different conditions for example shift-work disorder and for helping people to establish a day and night cycle especially blind children or adults. Mirtazapine is an antidepressant used in medicine in a pill form, most commonly used for major depressive disorder and other mood disorders, relief of anxiety, panic disorders, insomnia, headache and migraine.

Does Low Flow Anesthesia Reduce Postanaesthetic Emergence Agitation?

Agitated; StateAcute Reaction to Stress

In this study, the investigators aimed to compare postanesthetic agitation in patients undergoing laparotomic gynecological surgery under general anesthesia using sevoflurane at a fresh gas flow rate of 2 L / min with fresh gas flow rate of 0.5 L / min.

Premedication With Intranasal Dexmedetomidine or Midazolam for Prevention of Emergence Agitation...

Emergence Delirium

Study where children will receive one premedication, either intranasal dexmedetomidine or oral midazolam, to reduce agitation on emergence of anesthesia. The hypothesis is that dexmedetomidine is superior but previous studies lack quality.

Agitated Saline, Albumin, or Propofol-albumin Mixture for Enhanced Contrast in TEE Examinations...

Transesophageal Echocardiography Contrast Agents

This is a prospective, randomized, controlled study to determine if albumin and propofol or albumin only will provide superior qualitative contrast enhancement during TEE bubble studies compared to agitated saline. Each patient will receive three randomized bubble studies (agitated saline, albumin, and albumin and propofol) using 10 ml of agitated contrast agent. The albumin and propofol mixture will consist of 7 mL of 5% albumin plus 3 mL of propofol (10 mg/mL). Each patient will undergo qualitative review of all 3 bubble studies by 10 different anesthesiologists and/or cardiologists credentialed to read echocardiographic studies at the time of the surgical procedure, and also with retrospective review of the echo video (~200 studies). A bicaval view will be obtained to record a 20 beat loop for each bubble study. Hemodynamic variables prior to injection of contrast agent; and 30 seconds, 1 minute and 2 minutes after injection will be monitored and recorded.

Transition to Propofol After Sevoflurane Anaesthesia to Prevent Emergence Agitation

Emergence Agitation

The aim of this randomized double-blinded study is to determine whether transition to propofol for 3 min at the end of sevoflurane anaesthesia reduces the incidence of EA in children undergoing genito-urinary paediatric surgeries.
