The purpose of this study is to evaluate the correlation between morphologic changes in the outer retina and visual function after successful repair of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment with macula off.

Experimental retinal detachment and reattachment models have demonstrated the recovery process of successfully reattached retina. However, optical coherence tomography analysis of each retinal layers following retinal reattachment has not been investigated This study investigated changes in thickness profiles of retinal layers after resolution of recent-onset rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) using optical coherence tomography images.

The investigators compared the incidence of trimming-induced retinal breaks, retinal redetachment rate, and final LogMAR BCVA; between scleral self-indentation and non-indentation during chandelier-assisted peripheral vitrectomy under air for eyes with primary retinal detachment. Self-indentation enables complete trimming of the vitreous base without causing iatrogenic retinal breaks, with a higher retinal reattachment rate, and with less need for chandelier shift than with non-indentation approach.

Post-operative infectious endophthalmitis is devastating condition that causes a diffuse intraocular inflammation and may lead to blindness. Purpose: To assess the functional and anatomical outcome of primary vitrectomy without scleral buckling for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) in highly myopic eyes with axial length over 30 mm. Methods Design: Retrospective single center series. Setting: University Hospital. Patients: High myopic patients treated with primary vitrectomy without scleral buckling for a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Outcome measures: Anatomical success rate with complete reattachment of the retina without silicone oil tamponade and postoperative best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA).

We reviewed the records of 120 consecutive patients (male and female), aged 85 years and above, who underwent pars plana vitrecromy in the Tel Aviv Medical Center during the years 01/01/2006 - 31/12/2013, and were followed by physicians in the ophthalmology department in the center until December 2015.

The aim of this study is to report outcomes of pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) in pediatric retinal detachment (RD) accompanied with proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) as well as complications and factors influencing the final anatomical and functional results. This is retrospective consecutive case series of 14 eyes treated with primary PPV for RD repair. Average postoperative follow-up period is 34 months.
