The Real World Examination of Fibromyalgia: Longitudinal Evaluation of Costs and Treatments (REFLECTIONS) Study is a 12-month, prospective observational study that will be utilized in approximately 58 care settings in the United States (US) and Puerto Rico. It is designed to examine treatment patterns and health outcomes of adult participants diagnosed by their physician with fibromyalgia (FM) and who are starting any "new pharmacologic agent" for FM. The primary benefit of this study is enhanced understanding of the disease state of FM and the role that pharmacologic treatment plays, which may help to optimize management of FM. This study will address current gaps in a rapidly growing body of literature on FM.

The purpose of this study is: To identify specific set of proteins in the cerebrospinal fluid (fluid surrounding the brain and the spinal cord), that are believed to be seen in Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) patients, but not in healthy controls (HC). A similar study that the investigators had conducted before,suggested that significant changes in proteins in the cerebrospinal fluid may be due to the fundamental pathology of this disorder. Increased cerebrospinal fluid pressure (pressure that helps the cerebrospinal fluid to move around the brain and the spinal cord), may be related with certain symptoms like headache, sleep problems, light headedness, increased pain, excessive tiredness (fatigue) even with minimal work and memory problems. The purpose of this week long study is to describe sleep and problems with sleep in women diagnosed with Fibromyalgia syndrome.

The project investigates on the role of pain avoidance, comorbidity and stress response for the development of chronic somatic and visceral pain. We, the researchers at University Hospital Mannheim, assume that implicit operant learning of pain sensitization is a central mechanism of the process of pain becoming chronic, which is augmented by fear and by avoidance behaviour. Somatic and psychological comorbidity as well as stress factors are further promoting factors in chronic pain development.

Acceptance of chronic pain is becoming an increasingly important issue in the field of pain management. Many researchers argue that patients who accept pain better function better both physically and psychologically. In many countries, the Chronic Pain Acceptance Questionnaire - 8 (CPAQ-8) has been frequently validated and used to measure the pain acceptance of patients with chronic pain.1 However, the CPAQ-8 has not yet been introduced and validated in Turkey. In this study, we aimed to translate the English version of CPAQ-8 into Turkish, make correct cross-cultural adaptations, and validate the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of CPAQ-8 by testing it in Turkish fibromyalgia patients.
