Analysis of Birth Outcomes of Swedish, Danish and Finnish Women Exposed to Remicade With Inflammatory...

Inflammatory Bowel Disease

The purpose of this study is collection and analysis of information pertaining to pregnancy outcomes in women exposed to infliximab during pregnancy, relative to the background risk in similar but non-biologic exposed patients; and information pertaining to health status, during the first year following delivery, of infants born to women following prenatal exposure to infliximab and their unexposed counterparts.

Genetic and Immune Studies of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Related Conditions

ArthritisPsoriatic4 more

This protocol will examine blood, synovial fluid and synovial tissue from patients with rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic inflammatory joint diseases to study genetic and immunologic factors involved in the cause, development and progression of these conditions. Synovial fluid is the lubricating fluid in joints. The synovial membrane is a delicate tissue lining the inner surface of joints, which, in arthritic conditions, thickens and becomes infiltrated with various types of cells. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis and certain patients with other forms of arthritis may be eligible for this study. Those enrolled will be followed periodically for follow-up and disease evaluation. They may undergo the following procedures: Synovial fluid aspiration, when medically indicated (for example, for joint swelling and inflammation). For this procedure, an area of skin around the joint is numbed with an anesthetic, and a needle is inserted into the joint to withdraw a small fluid sample. Periodic blood sampling, not to exceed 450 milliliters (15 ounces) during any 6-week period, for genetic studies of rheumatoid arthritis. The samples are usually taken at the same times that synovial fluid is withdrawn. Synovial tissues, collected by needle biopsy or during surgical procedures for arthroscopy (examination of the interior of the joint and repair of the joint) or total joint replacement. For the needle biopsy, the skin over the biopsy site is washed and anesthetized. A needle is inserted and fluid is aspirated. The biopsy needle is then inserted through the outer needle and a tissue sample is suctioned. Patients who qualify for other research studies may be invited to participate.

Antimalarial and Covid 19 in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis

The antimalarial agent hydroxychloroquine(HCQ) have been used widely used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. These compounds lead to improvement of clinical and laboratory parameters, but their slow onset of action differ them from glucocorticoids and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agents. Among rheumatic diseases, the primary role of HCQ is in the management of articular and skin manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and the treatment of mild to moderately active rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Diagnostic Value of Hand Ultrasound Versus MRI in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Patient's With Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of the most common autoimmune rheumatic diseases, affecting one in 100 individuals worldwide. It is considered a complex systemic multifactorial inflammatory process in which the immune system targets synovial joints and causes mild to severe joint destruction with extra-articular manifestations. If left untreated, RA leads to deformity, considerable disability, and major comorbid conditions, including cardiovascular disease and increased mortality. Early treatment with targeted therapies can alter long-term outcomes by minimizing disease activity, preventing joint damage and disability, and improving patients' quality of life.

Psychological Impact of Quarantine in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patient During COVID-19 Outbreak

Sars-CoV2Rheumatic Diseases2 more

Clinical data about psychological impact of quarantine are well studied in transient event or more prolonged situation like jail incarceration. In recent metaanalysis, psychological impact of quarantine was well documented in a specific population during first SARS epidemy. Even after the end of quarantine several patients were still with symptom of avoiding mainly agoraphobia, frequent hand washing and a carefull return to normal life COVID-19 infection is already associated with psychological symptom like anxiety, depression, sleep disorders and symptoms of acute stress However psychological impact of quarantine is on none in chronic painful inflammatory rheumatism in France. The prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis is 0.5% of the population with frequent comorbidity such as anxiety and depression. During the quarantine secondary to COVID-19 pandemic it's possible to evaluated the psychological impact of adult RA patients. The present study is an "emergency" being realize before the end of the quarantine.

Impact of Clinical Pharmacy Services Provided for Patients With Active Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Enrolment of clinical pharmacy services in RA patients as a part of health care system has been investigated at many studies but not investigated in active RA patients before. This study aimed to detect drug therapy-related problems (DTRPs) in active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and Investigate the impact of clinical pharmacist interventions on the patient clinical outcome and quality of life (QoL). Methods:Prospective, randomized controlled study to be carried out at rheumatology outpatient clinic, Ain Shams University Hospitals on 50 patients with active RA for 6 months.determine if any drug therapy problems are present.Develop a plan of care that includes interventions to resolve drug therapy problems, achieve goals of therapy, and prevent drug therapy problems. questionnaires was used to measure functional status in RA patients using health assessment questionnaire (HAQ) and assess self-reported quality of life in patients with (RA) using rheumatoid arthritis quality of life questionnaire (RAQOL) and measure adherence using the 4-item Morisky Green Levine Medication Adherence Scale and Disease Activity Score-28 was used as an objective method to assess RA disease activity.
