Specific Immunotherapy for Allergic Child

Allergic RhinitisAllergic Asthma1 more

The recent interest that the Specific Immunotherapy (ITS) has aroused is due to the positive potential role that could be played, in particular in the forms of allergic asthma, because this method constitute the only intervention (unlike that pharmacologic) able to act on the same causes of the disease, altering the natural history. To achieve this the investigator has tried to use the specific subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT), to which there are studies that, with scientific rigor, have demonstrated the benefits.

Traditional Chinese Medicine on Gut Microbiota and Allergic Diseases

Allergic Rhinitis

Allergic rhinitis is an importance disease in Taiwan with its high incidence about 20-30% and gradually increased annually. However, symptom relapse still bothered the majority of patients though there were certain advances in western medicine. In addition, side effects of western medicine, such as lethargy, mouth dryness were noted. Traditional Chinese medicine, especially qi-tonifying regimen has been used and proved benefit to the allergic diseases by many researchers. This study will provide the evidences of gut microbiota changes and immune-modulatory effects of BZYQT for the treatment of allergic rhinitis.

AZELASTINE/FLUTICASONE (AZE/FLU) Nasal Spray on Symptom Control, Nasal Mediators and Nasal Hyperresponsiveness...

Allergic RhinitisHouse Dust Mite Allergy

Comparative analysis of the efficacy of intranasal MP29-02 (a novel formulation of azelastine and FP) has already been conducted in patients with moderate-to-severe seasonal AR. The combination formulation appeared to be superior in these patients with better symptomatic relief. However, objective analysis of the effect of this treatment on nasal mediators and/or nasal hyperreactivity has not yet been performed and would help in understanding the additional benefit of the combination treatment over monotherapy with nasal corticosteroids.

Efficacy, Safety and Underlying Mechanisms of Sphenopalatine Ganglion Acupuncture for Perennial...

Perennial Allergic Rhinitis

In recent years, a number of randomized controlled trials have confirmed the efficacy and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of allergic rhinitis (AR). Indeed, the latest American clinical guidelines recommended acupuncture treatment for AR patients who are interested in non-pharmacological treatment. In conventional acupuncture treatment for AR, needles are inserted at specific acupoints in the body; with several studies demonstrating acupuncture of sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) to improve nasal symptoms and quality of life in nasal inflammatory diseases. The investigators hypothesize that, compared with sham acupuncture and rescue medication (RM), active SPG acupuncture combined with RM would lead to greater improvements in symptoms score and reduction in overall need for antihistamines. To test this hypothesis the investigators design a randomized, double blind, controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy of SPG acupuncture in perennial AR patients (allergic to indoor allergens, including house dust mite, fungi, animal dander and so one) and to explore the potential underlying mechanisms.

Allergic Rhinitis Combination Pharmacotherapy Efficacy Study

Allergic Rhinitis

Combination pharmacotherapy is often used in people who have failed mono-therapies in managing their bothersome allergic rhinitis symptoms . However, there is a paucity of research indicating the most effective combination therapies in managing allergic rhinitis. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of oral antihistamine (rupatadine) combined with nasal steroid (fluticasone propionate) compared to a well-studied combination therapy of nasal steroid with nasal antihistamine spray (MP-AzeFlu).

Collaborative Care Model for Allergic Rhinitis With Obstructive Sleep Apnea From Prevention to Treatment....

Pediatric Sleep Apnea

In this project, the investigators aim to establish a Collaborative Care Model of TCM and Western Medicine to improve the quality of life and symptoms of AR with OSA children and educate care-givers diet and massage information to improve self-care ability and alleviate anxiety for parents. In addition, the investigators will use portable oxymeter to detect the change of SpO2 and respiratory arousal index daily at home and evaluate sensitivity and specificity of portable oxymeter device applied in OSA. The investigators want to give holistic health care for participants and care-givers by this project. In addition, the investigators will build a training environment to provide medical education and training opportunity to teach medical students and clinician the knowledge of pediatric allergic rhinitis and obstructive sleep apnea by caring patients and learning from clinical cases.
