Comparison of Primary Repair Versus Gastrocnemius Turn-down Flaps of Acute Achilles Tendon Rupture...

Acute Rupture of Achilles Tendon (Disorder)

This retrospective study includes 74 patients with acute Achilles tendon rupture from March 2012 to September 2018, aiming to compare the mid-term curative effect of primary repair and gastrocnemius turn-down flaps and guide clinical decision.

Predictors of Early Success From Circumferential Compression STITCH Meniscal Repairs

Knee Medial Meniscus TearsMeniscus Lesion3 more

This is a retrospective study of meniscal tear repairs at least one-year post repair status. All patients were treated with Ceterix NovoStitch devices. The primary objectives of this study are to assess the clinical repair success rate via reoperation and PROs at greater than 12 months.

Induced ACL Healing With the Ligamys Technique: a Prospective, Multicenter Observational Case Series...

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Rupture

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Ligamys technique for the treatment of acute ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament in a multicenter routine clinical setting. To conduct a long-term follow-up of the case series as a post-market product surveillance endeavor.

Ambulation for Latency During Expectant Management of PPROM

Preterm Premature Rupture of the MembranesPregnancy Complications2 more

Ambulation in pregnancy has been proposed to decrease stress and anxiety, increasing preterm birth. Whether ambulation is causally related to latency is unknown. The FitBit will be used for tracking the number of steps taken daily by each participant, and for encouraging the intervention group to walk. The FitBit is the most widely used physical activity tracker in medical research, and its use has been validated for research use in pregnant women. The purpose of the study is to evaluate whether ambulation in patients with preterm premature rupture of the membranes (PPROM) prolongs latency.

Cerclage After Full Dilatation Caesarean Section

Preterm BirthPreterm Premature Rupture of Membrane1 more

CRAFT-OBS: Observational Study; To evaluate subsequent pregnancy risk of preterm birth in women with a history of previous caesarean in established labour. This prospective study using clinically acquired cervical length and quantitative fetal fibronectin data will help establish a predictive model of preterm birth <34 weeks and <37 weeks. CRAFT-RCT: Randomised controlled trial arm; To assess treatment for short cervix in women at high risk of preterm birth following a caesarean section at full dilatation CRAFT-IMG: Imaging sub-study; To aid understanding of micro and macrostructural features within the cervix which predisposes to preterm birth in women with a previous full dilatation caesarean section. This will use MRI and an advanced transvaginal ultrasound protocol and to assess if structural changes can be visualised in the cervix.

Accuracy and Stability of a New Automatic Knee Arthrometer in Diagnosing ACL Rupture

Knee Ligament; Laxity

We introduced an automatic knee arthrometer (AKA) and aimed to evaluate the repeatability and effectiveness thereof in diagnosing ACL rupture compared with the KT-2000.

Reliability and Validity of Inline Dynamometry Study for Measuring Knee Extensor Torque

Anterior Cruciate Ligament InjuriesAnterior Cruciate Ligament Rupture1 more

This study will investigate the reliability and validity of an inline 'pull-type' dynamometer for measuring peak knee extensor torque. For the reliability study, healthy volunteers will be assessed by two assessors (inter-rater) at the index testing session, with testing repeated by one assessor one week later (test-retest). Validity will be investigated against isometric electromechanical dynamometry (gold standard) in patients following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.

Radiation Dose From Computed Tomography Before and After Implementation of a High Pitch Dual Spiral...

Atherosclerosis of Coronary ArteryCardiovascular Disease2 more

The purpose of this study is to compare the radiation exposure of a variety of chest CT examinations performed on the current state of the art CT scanners (64 slice, dual source CT scanner) with the radiation exposure for identical chest CT examinations performed on the Siemens Flash CT scanner (high pitch dual source spiral technique).

Microarray Expression Profiling to Identify Stereotypic mRNA Profiles in Human Parturition

Preterm BirthPremature Rupture of Membranes

The understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying preterm birth is very limited, making prevention of preterm birth difficult. The incidence of preterm birth worldwide varies between 6%-11% in singleton pregnancies, and 64-93% of preterm deliveries occur after the spontaneous onset of labor (preterm labor). The risk factors associated with preterm birth include demographic variables such as ethnic group, past obstetric history, and complications of the current pregnancy such as infection and fetal congenital anomalies. The current study aims to investigate the basic mechanisms of preterm labor by systematically cataloging the changes in expression levels of all expressed genes whose sequences are available. The goals will be accomplished by using microarray technology followed by subsequent confirmative or complementary analyses.

The Use of Cranberries in Women With Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes

Fetal MembranesPremature Rupture1 more

Cranberries have been proved to reduce the rate of urinary tract infections in a population of women with recurrent urinary tract infections in previous studies. The purpose of the study is to examine the efficacy of cranberries in pregnant women with preterm premature rupture of membranes in a)prolonging the latent period (=the time period between the time the water broke and delivery of the fetus) and b)reduction of infectious morbidity of both the mother and infant.
