Combination Chemotherapy With or Without Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Newly Diagnosed...
SarcomaRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. It is not yet known whether chemotherapy is more effective with or without radiation therapy in treating patients who have rhabdomyosarcoma. PURPOSE: Phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of chemotherapy with or without radiation therapy in treating patients who have newly-diagnosed rhabdomyosarcoma.
A Phase I Trial of Tecogalan Sodium ( DS-4152 ) Administered as an Infusion Twice Weekly for 21...
SarcomaKaposi1 moreTo evaluate the safety of different doses and dosing regimens of tecogalan sodium (DS-4152) and to establish the MTD at each of the different dosing schedules.
Use of Stealth Liposomal Doxorubicin HCl ( DOX-SL ) in the Treatment of Moderate to Severe AIDS-Related...
SarcomaKaposi1 moreTo provide Stealth liposomal doxorubicin hydrochloride ( DOX-SL ) as a therapy for Kaposi's sarcoma patients who have no remaining treatment options other than DOX-SL or patients who have been participating in another DOX-SL protocol and for whom continuation in DOX-SL is medically indicated. Also, to evaluate the safety and efficacy of DOX-SL in patients with Kaposi's sarcoma who have previously received systemic chemotherapy with or without an anthracycline.
Doxorubicin With or Without Ifosfamide and Pegfilgrastim in Treating Patients With Locally Advanced...
SarcomaRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy such as doxorubicin and ifosfamide use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Colony-stimulating factors, such as pegfilgrastim, cause the body to make blood cells. It is not yet known whether doxorubicin alone is more effective with or without ifosfamide and pegfilgrastim in treating soft tissue sarcoma. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying giving doxorubicin alone to see how well it works compared to giving doxorubicin together with ifosfamide and pegfilgrastim in treating patients with locally advanced or metastatic soft tissue sarcoma.
Arsenic Trioxide in Treating Patients With Advanced Neuroblastoma or Other Childhood Solid Tumors...
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChildhood Germ Cell Tumor7 moreRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of arsenic trioxide in treating children who have advanced neuroblastoma or other solid tumors.
Liposomal Doxorubicin and Interleukin-12 in Treating Patients With AIDS-Related Kaposi's Sarcoma...
SarcomaRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Interleukin-12 may kill tumor cells by stopping blood flow to the tumor and by stimulating a person's white blood cells to kill the tumor cells. Combining chemotherapy with interleukin-12 may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining liposomal doxorubicin with interleukin-12 in treating patients who have AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma.
Comparison of Combination Chemotherapy Regimens in Treating Patients With Ewing's Sarcoma or Neuroectodermal...
SarcomaRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. It is not yet known which chemotherapy regimen combined with radiation therapy and/or surgery is more effective in treating Ewing's sarcoma or primitive neuroectodermal tumor. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of different chemotherapy regimens combined with radiation therapy and/or surgery in treating patients who have Ewing's sarcoma or primitive neuroectodermal tumor.
Peripheral Stem Cell Transplantation Plus Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With Malignant Solid...
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChildhood Germ Cell Tumor6 moreRATIONALE: Peripheral stem cell transplantation may be able to replace immune cells that were destroyed by chemotherapy used to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining chemotherapy with peripheral stem cell transplantation may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy drugs and kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of cyclophosphamide when given together with combination chemotherapy and a peripheral stem cell transplant in treating patients with malignant solid tumors.
Isolated Limb Infusion of Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With Melanoma or Soft Tissue Sarcoma...
Melanoma (Skin)SarcomaRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Infusing chemotherapy to the tumor area only may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to healthy tissues. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying isolated limb infusion of chemotherapy to see how well it works in treating patients with melanoma or soft tissue sarcoma of the arm or leg that cannot be removed by surgery.
EF5 Prior to Surgery or Biopsy in Patients With Breast, Prostate, or Cervical Cancer or High Grade...
Breast CancerCervical Cancer3 moreRATIONALE: EF5 may detect the presence of oxygen in tumor cells and help plan effective cancer treatment. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of EF5 in detecting the presence of oxygen in tumor cells of patients who are undergoing surgery or biopsy for breast, prostate, or cervical cancer or high grade soft tissue sarcoma.
