Covid-19 Epidemic on Acute Stroke Management
StrokeAcuteThe Covid-19 pandemic is a pandemic of an emerging infectious disease, coronavirus 2019 (Covid-19), caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. It appears in November 2019 in the city of Wuhan, China, and spreads worldwide from February 2020. The first cases of infection in France were confirmed on 24 January 2020. As of April 14, 103,573 cases of infection were confirmed, 32,292 hospitalized cases, including 6,730 in intensive care, with 15,729 deaths recorded1. The most affected regions are Ile de France and the Grand Est (in particular the Haut-Rhin department). Containment of the entire French population was introduced on 17 March, with the aim of reducing the spread of the virus and relieving the burden on the health system, particularly the intensive care units. This unprecedented health crisis, as well as the social containment measures in themselves, has repercussions on other acute medical pthologies, not directly related to the viral infection. It appears that the number of patients treated for acute stroke has suddenly declined since the beginning of the epidemic. However, it is not clear whether it is the incidence of stroke that has declined or simply the proportion of patients presenting within the time frame that allows for treatment in the acute phase (by thrombolysis or thrombectomy).
Predictors of Cardiovascular Risk in Covid-19 Patients During Acute Disease and at Short Term Follow-up...
COVID-19Cardiovascular Risk FactorNorthern Italy, and particularly Lombardy, is one of the regions of the world mostly affected by COVID-19, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. To investigate the still largely unknown pathophysiology of this disease, we have built a consortium of Italian Hospitals to include a large cohort of COVID-19 patients from mild out-patients managed by GPs to inpatients developing mild, moderate or severe disease assessed both in hospital and at a 3-6 month follow-up visit). Consortium partners have a wide expertise to allow for 1) comprehensive assessment of risk factors for severe COVID-19 syndrome; 2) study the pathophysiology of its cardio-respiratory manifestations; 3) estimate risk scores also with artificial intelligence and 4) assess its clinical immunoinflammatory and cardiorespiratory sequelae in discharged patients at short term follow-up. To this aim, we will Enroll around 5500 COVID-19 patients (1000 outpatients and 4500 in-patients), which will allow to: 1.1 Phenotype patients with COVID-19 of variable severity 1.2 Assess the prevalence of COVID-19 among GPs in relation with their use of PPE 1.3 Evaluate the impact of patients' demographic and clinical characteristics COVID-19 severity Use an electronic CRF (on RedCap) to record clinical, biohumoral and imaging data of inpatients with COVID-19 of various severity to explore the prognostic and pathophysiological role of immunologic factors, activation of blood coagulation, endothelial dysfunction, inflammatory response, genetic (ni particular X-linked), hormonal and metabolic factors, comorbidities and acute cardiac damage. Blood samples will be collected. We will also use machine learning techniques to develop multivariable models for patients' risk stratification A follow-up visit at 3-6 months after discharge will be performed to identify residual clinical consequences that might affect long-term prognosis.

COVID-19 - Quality of Life After Infection
COVID-19Quality of LifeThis study aims to investigate the quality of life of COVID-19 patients after recovery and discharge from the hospital. Patients following-up at the PWH outpatient clinics will be enrolled for further evaluation via telephone follow-up at one, three, and six months after hospital discharge. SF12, EQ-5D-5L and work status standardized quantitative assessments of quality of life will be implemented via telephone follow-up at these time-points. Previous studies of patients infected with SARS-CoV-1 in 2003 at PWH showed that significant numbers of recovering patients had impaired long-term health status. It is important to see if these same problems also afflict patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus (the novel coronavirus which causes COVID-19).
Effect of COVID-19 Pandemic on Pediatric Cancer Care
Covid19Observational cohort study to assess the effects of COVID19 on pediatric cancer care in Egypt and the Arab World through a survey applied to pediatric oncologists who will be interviewed either directly or through the internet to assess the effect of COVID 19 on pediatric cancer care
Post Covid-19 Cardiopulmonary and Immunological Changes
COVIDStudy rationale and aim: Resolving the COVID-19 pandemic quickly hinges on a crucial factor: how well a person's immune system remembers SARS-CoV-2, the virus behind the disease, after an infection has resolved and the patient is back in good health. This phenomenon, called immune memory, helps our bodies avoid reinfection by a bug persons have had before and influences the potency of life-saving treatments and vaccines. Also, the new coronavirus causes cardiac and pulmonary inflammation. So, our study planned to measure the cardiopulmonary and immunological changes in treated COVID-19 patients. Specific objectives: Measurement the duration of existence of COVID-19 IgM and IgG antibody in patient's plasma, detection of cardiac changes, pulmonary radiological and functional changes after COVID-19 infection. This could help detection of functional impairment in COVID-19 survivors which may have economic and social impact. Also, investigator will assess possible protective immune response following infection which may affect vaccination schedule. Methods: One hundred RT- PCR positive COVID-19 patients will be enrolled. HRCT chest, lateral flow immunoassay, spirometry, DLCO and Echo will be done on after 3, 6 and 12 months of discharge.
Spanish Registry of Pregnant Women With COVID-19
Covid19Pregnancy Complications4 moreStudy title Spanish Registry of Pregnant Women with COVID-19 Protocol number and version Number 55/20. Version V8. Sponsors This registry is a project promoted by Dr. Oscar Martínez Pérez of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department of the Puerta de Hierro University Hospital. Principal investigator of the registry National coordinator: Dr. Óscar Martínez Pérez. Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department. Puerta de Hierro University Hospital. Majadahonda. Epidemiologist: Maria Luisa de la Cruz Conti Researchers for each site: 100 sites from 32 Spanish provinces are included (Appendix 1) Funding Neither the hospitals nor the participating investigators will receive any financial compensation for their collaboration. A bank account has been opened at the hospital's Biomedical Research Foundation to receive donations: COV20/00021 - SARS-COV-2 and the COVID-19 disease Call financed by the Carlos III Institute of Health and co-financed with ERDF funds. Abstract Rationale: Knowledge about the impact of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on pregnancy is still scarce and all current recommendations are based on less than 100 cases published in the literature. To identify moderate effects (such as vertical transmission, obstetric morbidity, foetal death, maternal or neonatal death) and to allow accurate risk estimates, larger sample sizes than those currently available are required. Methods: Prospective observational study of pregnant women in whom SARS-CoV-2 infection is suspected at any time during pregnancy with positive test results for SARS-CoV-2, in order to create a registry of baseline characteristics of the pregnant woman, aspects related to the course of pregnancy and delivery, and related to the new-born, with an observation period of up to 14 days after delivery. Subsequently, several phased studies will be conducted to help establish and monitor the set of measures to improve the care of pregnant women. Discussion: The national registry for COVID-19 in pregnancy described here is a tool for sharing and centralizing data related to exposures to SARS-CoV-2 during pregnancy in a structured way. It should speed up the process of prospectively obtaining a large unbiased data set and will collect information at national level.
COVID-19 Child Health Investigation of Latent Disease in Hamburg
SARS-CoV-2Covid19The study measures infection rates and the presence of antibodies for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) among in- and outpatients of all pediatric hospitals, as well as volunteers aged 0 to 18 years in Hamburg, Germany. Participants with a positive nasopharyngeal swab PCR or a positive antibody test enter the Follow-up phase of 6 months. The follow up includes a PCR and antibody testing of all household contacts at 0, 3 and 6 months, as well as laboratory testing of children to identify immunological, metabolic and genetic risk factors for infection and clinical outcome.
How Brazilian Chiropractors Are Facing the COVID-19 Pandemic
Covid19Brazil has the Latin America's largest coronavirus outbreak, numbers second only to the United States in the western hemisphere. The first COVID-19 confirmed case in Brazil was on February of 2020. A 61yrs old man tested positive after returning from a trip to Italy. Few other very first cases were also imported from Europe by returning travelers. The first locally transmitted case was registered on March of 2020, when a total of 8 cases have already been confirmed. At the time the WHO declares the outbreak as a pandemic (March 11) Brazil had 52 confirmed cases being 6 of those locally transmitted. Healthcare professionals are now more important than ever. Given the intrinsic nature of the hands-on treatment of the Chiropractic profession, it is extremely important to understand what strategies chiropractors have put in place to address patient care, safety, and self report COVID contamination of those professionals.
