Umbilical Cord Lining Stem Cells (ULSC) in Patients With COVID-19 ARDS

Covid19Corona Virus Infection3 more

ULSC-CV-01 is a clinical trial that comprises both Phase 1 and Phase 2a, which will be conducted sequentially. This trial will evaluate the safety and potential efficacy of allogeneic Umbilical Cord Lining Stem Cells (ULSC), which are a type of umbilical cord tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSC), with intravenous (IV) administration in hospitalized patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) due to COVID-19.

Efficacy of CONvalescent Plasma in Patients With COVID-19 Treated With Mechanical Ventilation

Covid19Mechanical Ventilation Complication3 more

The principal objective of the CONFIDENT trial is to assess the efficacy of two units (400-500 mL in total) of convalescent plasma, as compared to Standard of Care (SoC), to reduce day-28 mortality in patients with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia who require mechanical ventilation.

PneumoniaSevere Acute Respiratory Syndrome1 more

This phase III trial compares low dose whole lung radiation therapy to best supportive care plus physicians choice in treating patients with COVID-19 infection. Low dose whole lung radiation therapy may work better than the current best supportive care and physician's choice in improving patients' clinical status, the radiographic appearance of their lungs, or their laboratory blood tests.

Should Palatine Tonsils be Included in the Oropharyngeal Swab for SARS-CoV-2 Molecular Testing?...

SARS-CoV InfectionCoronavirus1 more

Citizens who undergo testing for COVID-19 at one of two Testcenters in Copenhagen Captial Region will be invited to participate in the study. The participants will be randomized to either an oropharyngeal swap including the palatine tonsils OR an oropharyngeal swap without the palatine tonsils for SARS-CoV-2 testing. The swabs will be sent to the clinical microbiology laboratory for SARS-CoV-2 detection using RT-PCR. The diagnostic accuracy and SARS-CoV-2 viral load will be compared. The participants will be asked to complete a questionnaire regarding their symptoms.

A Clinical Trial of COVAC-2 in Adults

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2

VIDO has developed a vaccine called COVAC-2. The COVAC-2 study vaccine contains a portion of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, called S1. The spike protein is the part of the virus that is responsible for attaching to the surface of host cells. COVAC-2 contains a SWE adjuvant. An adjuvant is a compound that is added to a vaccine to help the vaccine produce a better immune response. The SWE adjuvant is similar to another adjuvant, MF59, that is found in influenza vaccines and MF59 containing vaccines have been given to millions of people around the world. The vaccine is expected to stimulate the body to make antibodies against the S1 protein. The antibodies will recognize the viral spike protein if the body is exposed to the virus and prevent severe COVID-19 illness. In animal studies, the immune response generated by the COVAC-2 vaccine was able to protect the vaccinated animals against a severe SARS-CoV-2 infection. This is a Phase 2, placebo-controlled, observer-blind, age-stratified randomized, multicentre study to test the safety and immunogenicity of a dose level of the COVAC-2 vaccine (25 µg protein) administered twice (4 weeks apart) in generally healthy adults 18+ years of age. Up to 300 participants will be enrolled. For an individual participant, the duration of study will be approximately 12 months from the first vaccination (Day 0).

A Study to Evaluate the Efficacy, Immune Response, and Safety of a COVID-19 Vaccine in Adults ≥...

SARS-CoV InfectionCovid19

This is a phase 3, randomized, observer-blinded, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity of SARS-CoV-2 rS with Matrix-M1 adjuvant in adult participants and adolescent participants. Additionally providing a Booster Dose to fully vaccinated participants. A substudy is to be conducted at selected sites to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of a fourth dose (second booster) of NVX-CoV2373 in adults and adolescents, previously fully vaccinated and subsequently boosted with a third dose (first booster)

SARS-COV-2 Seroprevalence and Seroconversion Among Employees of the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel...

SARS-CoV Infection

A novel zoonotic coronavirus was discovered in Wuhan (Hubei Province, China) mid-December 2019 and was named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus rapidly spread to the rest of the world, including Europe and explicitly affects the respiratory system, generating Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study is a monocentric interventional prospective and retrospective cohort study. After signing a written informed consent, participants will be recruited for questionnaire completion and blood sampling. Sample storage and analysis will be performed at the laboratory of microbiology of the UZ Brussel. To document SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence and seroconversion among employees of the UZ Brussel after mRNA vaccination for SARS-CoV-2, namely at 8 weeks after first vaccination, 6 months after first vaccination and 12 months after first vaccination.
