Metformin Treatment on Cognitive Impairment of Schizophrenia Co-morbid Metabolic Syndrome
SchizophreniaIn this study, the investigators will investigate the impact and the related mechanism of metformin treatment on cognitive impairment of schizophrenia with a high risk of metabolic syndrome. Patients will be randomized to the metformin group or non-metformin control group (40 patients per arm) for 24 weeks. Clinical assessment will be done at screen/baseline, 4 weeks, 12 weeks, and 24 weeks. The specific aims are to compare the metformin group versus controls on 1) clinical core symptoms; 2) cognition. Biological samples also will be collected, and stored to research related mechanisms.
Synbiotic Compound to Reduce Symptoms of Schizophrenia
SchizophreniaSchizoaffective DisorderThe purpose of this study is to determine if taking a synbiotic supplement versus a placebo will reduce symptoms of schizophrenia when used in addition to standard antipsychotic medications.

A Clinical Study to Learn if SEP-363856 Has Physical Dependence in Adults With Schizophrenia
SchizophreniaA Clinical Study to learn if SEP-363856 has physical dependence in adults with schizophrenia. This study will be held in approximately 6 study sites in the United States. It will be accepting male and female participants age 18 years to 65 years. Participation will be up to approximately10 weeks.
Study on the Bioequivalence of Amisulpride Orally Disintegrating Tablets in Human Body
BioequivalenceSchizophreniaThe experiment adopts a single center, randomized, open, single dose, two cycle, and double crossover design. The subjects were randomly divided into TR and RT groups. In the first cycle, they received the test or control formulation on an empty stomach or after a meal. After a cleaning period, they entered the second cycle and received the control or test formulation in the same state. The cleaning period between the two cycles was 7 days.
Self and Body-esteem in Socio-professional Rehabilitation
SchizophreniaBipolar Disorder3 moreThe body esteem influences the physical appearance, which can be a social brake. To enhance the socio-professional insertion of persons with severe mental disorders, the investigators developed a group program about self-presentation and body esteem. The study's objective is to understand the body esteem impact on socio-professional insertion, and how to improve that with a dedicated group program, for patients in a psychosocial rehabilitation center
Assessment and Treatment for Chronic Pain in Veterans With Serious Mental Illness
Chronic PainSchizophrenia4 moreChronic pain has a highly negative impact on Veterans, especially those with serious mental illness (SMI). Chronic pain leads to poorer mental health and physical functioning, and represents a critical obstacle to rehabilitation and recovery. Despite known high prevalence rates of chronic pain in SMI populations, there is little research to: a) evaluate nonpharmacological pain management strategies in this population, and b) examine directional relations between chronic pain and SMI symptoms. This study aims to address research and clinical gaps by: a) testing the feasibility and acceptability of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Chronic Pain (CBT-CP) - a VA evidence-based psychotherapy for chronic pain - in Veterans with SMI, and b) better assessing the complex relation between chronic pain and psychiatric symptoms and their impact on functioning. Results from this study will inform us as to whether CBT-CP is feasible to implement, acceptable to Veterans with SMI, and worth examining in its standard or in an optimized form in a larger clinical trial.

SchizophreniaA Clinical Study that will look at an investigational medication, SEP-363856 (called "study medication") in patients with schizophrenia, and assess wether it affectsbody-weight associated parameters. This study is accepting male and female participants age 18 years to 65 years. This study will be conducted in approximately 6 study sites in the United States. Participation could last up to 13 weeks.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Study Evaluating the Updating of Persecutory Beliefs
Schizophrenia; PsychosisPersecutory DelusionThe purpose of this study is to examine how Bayesian belief updating changes throughout psychotherapeutic treatment for persecutory delusions. Specifically, individuals with a psychotic disorder diagnosis who endorse both a current persecutory delusion with strong conviction and significant worry will be recruited and randomized to receive either a CBT-based worry intervention for persecutory delusions or an active control condition (befriending therapy). The investigators will examine: 1) whether belief updating parameters change as delusion severity changes, 2) whether CBT contributes to greater change in belief updating parameters than befriending therapy, and 3) whether neural correlates of belief updating parameters, as measured using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), predict treatment response.
C-Cog in Early Course Schizophrenia Study
SchizophreniaThe purpose of this study is to examine the role of clinical stability in functional recovery. in first episode schizophrenia.
