Cerebrovascular Autoregulation in Sepsis, Influence of Renal Replacement Therapy
Severe SepsisSeptic ShockThe cerebrovascular autoregulation is impaired in patients with severe sepsis and septic shock. A continuous veno-venous hemodialysis may improve impaired cerebrovascular autoregulation. Hypothesis: continuous hemodialysis recovers impaired cerebrovascular autoregulation in patients with acute severe sepsis and septic shock.
Comparing an Automated to a Conventional Sepsis Clinical Prediction Rule
SepsisThe investigators will conduct a prospective cohort study to compare an automated sepsis severity score to a conventional clinical prediction rule to risk stratify patients admitted from the emergency department (ED) with suspected infection for 28 day in-hospital mortality.
Multi-marker INDex for the Risk Assessment of Sepsis in the Emergency departmenT (MINDSET)
SepsisThe purpose of the study is to procure blood samples from patients ≥18 years of age who present to the Emergency Department (ED) with at least two of the diagnostic criteria for sepsis. Samples obtained upon enrollment will be used for future testing of the Triage Sepsis Panel and other biomarkers.
Hepatic Mitochondrial Function in Sepsis
SepsisPeritonitisMulti-organ failure due to sepsis is a major cause of death in critically ill patients. But the mechanisms leading to this condition are not fully understood. Mitochondrial dysfunction has been shown in skeletal muscle of critically ill septic patients. Liver is very important in sepsis as it is responsible of the synthesis of several inflammatory proteins. Moreover hepatic failure is associated to a bad outcome. The aim of this study is to evaluate the hepatic mitochondrial function in sepsis.
Determination of the Nature of the Endogenous Ligand of TREM-1 and Its Use as a New Diagnostic Biomarker...
SepsisStep 1: Identification and characterisation of the TREM1L protein from samples already available characterised at the hospital Central of Nancy Step 2: Study of the isoforms of TREM1L in correlation with the prognosis of sepsis, Step 3: implementation of assay methods for TREM1L (ELISA or SUPRA MS) Step 4: Validation of assays for TREM1L and its isoforms in a larger number of subjects (inclusion of samples from Dijon CHU and Besançon CHU)
Muscle Atrophy in Sepsis
AtrophySepsis1 moreSevere sepsis will provoke signals leading to muscle atrophy and weakness. Electrical stimulation will reduce the impact of sepsis.
Evaluation of 70% Ethanol Lock Solution to Prevent Catheter Related Blood Stream Infections in Pediatric...
Blood Stream InfectionsShort Bowel SyndromeThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical practice of the prophylactic use of ethanol locks for the prevention of catheter related blood stream infections in pediatric intestinal rehabilitation program patients requiring total parenteral nutrition.
Impact of Pediatric Acute Renal Injury in Severe Sepsis in Young Adults
Acute Kidney InjuryChronic Kidney Disease1 moreSepsis is the most common cause of childhood death worldwide. Millions of children survive, but are left with impaired health. Sepsis-related Acute Kidney Injury (sAKI) is increasingly recognized as a significant factor associated with long-term mortality among different patient populations. Renal dysfunction and subsequent chronic kidney disease is implicated in the development of hypertension and cardiovascular disease. The investigators overall hypothesis is that, in the pediatric population, sepsis-related AKI will have unrecognized, long-term consequences with regard to kidney function, endothelial function, blood pressure control, and overall health.

Presep and Vascath Interaction Study
HemodynamicsRenal Dialysis2 moreThis is a prospective, observational study to compare presep(tm) catheter central vein mixed venous oxygen saturation before and after dialysis is initiated via the vascath(tm) central venous dialysis catheter to evaluate device interaction.
