Computational Drug Repurposing for All EBS Cases
Epidermolysis BullosaHealthy5 moreThe study will compare gene expression differences between blistered and non-blistered skin from individuals with all subtypes of EB, as well as normal skin from non-EB subjects. State of the art computational analysis will be performed to help identify new drugs that might help all EB wound healing and reduce pain. Researchers will focus on drugs that have already been approved for treatment of other dermatologic or non-dermatologic diseases, and therefore be repurposed for treatment of EB. Drug development is a very expensive process taking decades for execution. Drug repurposing on the other hand, significantly reduces the cost and shortens the amount of time that is needed to bring effective treatments to clinical use. To date, there is no specific treatment targeting the physiology and immunologic response in EB patients during wound healing. Market availability of repurposed medications will provide all EB patients rapid access to treatments, thus improving their quality of life.

These measures can lead to changes in the skin, the development of new inflammatory skin diseases or exacerbation of existing ones, with health professionals especially under the risk of developing these changes. Changes in facial skin due to wearing masks have been observed in a number of studies, however, part of the study was based solely on subjects' self-assessment or clinical assessment, and only a small part on objective measurements of skin parameters. Also, the impact of prolonged masks' use have not been investigated. The aim of these study was to investigate the effects of constant, long-term use of protective masks on facial skin.

There are currently no reliable markers that could predict or delineate patient subgroups to support patient management. The aim of this project is to identify clinical and molecular factors that correlate with disease, disease subtypes and progression through in-depth long-term clinical characterization of patients with chronic inflammatory skin diseases and examination of individual biomaterials.
Using Hydrating Cream to Improve Repeated Hand Skin Injury Among Tug-of-war Players

Injuries such as abrasions, cuts, burns, and sunburns can limit muscle contractions and range of motion, cause discomfort, and lead to bacterial infections. In addition, skin damage can lead to long-term skin problems such as skin aging and cancer, affecting athletes' overall health and performance. Protecting the skin is crucial for athletes to maintain optimal performance and physical health. The use of steroids is limited for athletes due to their status as banned substances. Topical steroids may also cause negative side effects, making it necessary to find alternative skin care options for athletes such as tug-of-war athletes. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a topical hydrating cream for skin care in this population. The study involved using a moisturizing cream on the more severely affected side of one hand while the other hand acted as a comparative control group. After two weeks, the sides were switched, and the study continued for four weeks in total.
