Sleep Apnea in Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction
Heart FailureObstructive Sleep ApneaThis is a prospective interventional study to better understand i) the prevalence of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) in Heart Failure with preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF), ii) its hemodynamic correlates, and iii) the impact of intervention with Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) on quality of life.
Enhancing PAP Adherence Among Spanish-speaking Hispanic Adults With OSA
Obstructive Sleep ApneaThis study seeks to enhance long-term positive airway pressure (PAP) adherence among Spanish-speaking Hispanics, a group with known PAP outcomes disparities. This study will assess the feasibility of a linguistically and culturally adapted tele-management intervention (Automated Management, AM) for Spanish-speaking Hispanic adults with OSA.
Comorbid Insomnia and Sleep Disordered Breathing in Patients Undergoing Cardiac Rehabilitation
Coronary Artery DiseaseSleep Disorder; Breathing-Related1 moreThe purpose of this research is to determine how frequently sleep disorders such as sleep disordered breathing and insomnia occur in patients with coronary artery disease enrolled in cardiac rehabilitation. By reviewing results of a variety of tests, we also hope to learn more about the cardiovascular effects on people who may have these conditions.
The Epidemiology of Sleep Disordered Breathing in Patients With Congestive Heart Failure
Chronic Heart FailureSleep DisorderThis research will be one of the first hospital-based studies to comprehensively evaluate the epidemiological characteristics of sleep disordered breathing (SDB) in patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). This prospective, observational cohort, single center study will include all consecutive CHF outpatients from the specialized heart failure clinic in Medical Department, Hospital Taiping, Malaysia irrespective of preserved or depressed Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (LVEF). All participants will be subjected to an attended in-laboratory polysomnogram (PSG). It is anticipated the frequency and types of SDB to be variable compared to western data as this subject remains understudied in the South East Asian population. This research utilizes PSG rather than Portable Sleep Testing (PST) as seen in preceding studies for the diagnosis of SDB to prevent underdiagnosing SDBs and clearly distinguishing Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Central Sleep Apnea (CSA).
Sleep Apnea and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)
Hypertrophic CardiomyopathyThe investigators are trying to find out how common sleep apnea is in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The purpose of this study is to see if sleep apnea is common in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and if its presence is associated with changes in the functioning of the body. The investigators want to determine if sleep apnea is associated with electrical disorders of the heart in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Long Term Oral Appliance Therapy Effectiveness for Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome
Obstructive Sleep ApneaObstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a highly prevalent breathing problem that occurs during sleep. OSA have been associated with the obesity epidemic in developing countries; additionally, high OSA prevalence rates are present in populations with cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. Two OSA treatments are currently available, oral appliance (OA) therapy and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). OAs are an underutilized non-surgical treatment and few studies have analyzed their long-term effectiveness for patients with OSA. The purpose of this study is to assess the long-term effectiveness of OA therapy in patients with OSA and to explore any changes on cardiovascular related morbidity and mortality related to this therapy.
Janus Feasibility Study
Sleep Apnea SyndromesThe purpose of this feasibility study is to assess whether an alternative transvenous lead location affects respiration and airway physiology during a commercial remedē® System or commercial transvenous cardiac device (de novo pacemaker or implantable cardiac defibrillator) implant procedure.
Impact of Early Diagnosis and Treatment of OSA on Hospital Readmission in Hospitalized COPD Patients...
Obstructive Sleep ApneaChronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to determine whether early diagnosis of OSA and initiation of and adherence to CPAP therapy in patients hospitalized for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease reduce 30-day hospital readmission rates.
A Cross-sectional Study Examining Adipose Tissue in Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Obstructive Sleep Apnea of AdultStudies show that sleep apnea increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and is associated with obesity. However, it is unclear how sleep apnea affects fat tissue. Studies have shown that fat tissue is likely involved in developing cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this study is to see how sleep apnea changes fat tissue.
Clinical Evaluation of a Paediatric Sleep Diagnosis Technology
Sleep ApneaThe objective of this project is to gather research data and subsequently evaluate algorithms to demonstrate clinical efficacy of a novel sleep apnoea detection system in the paediatric population. The Study will involve patients who will have been referred for diagnosis of sleep apnoea, and the ultimate aim will be to compare the output of a novel apnoea detection system against in -clinic polysomnography.
