Clinical Application of Ultrasound in Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Obstructive Sleep Apnea

We hypothesize the width air-colum of retropalatal region and tongue voulme by ultrsound through submental area is different between normal control with those with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome who was comfirmed by polysomography.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Sleep Disordered Breathing And Genetics: Effects On Cognition...

Stress DisordersPost-Traumatic

The current research program aims to study how sleep disordered breathing, age and genetics affect memory in older adult veterans with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The study will help researchers and clinicians better understand the relationship among PTSD, sleep disordered breathing, genetics and memory function.

The Influence of the Sleep Apnea on the Neurological and Functional Recovery

Sleep ApneaObstructive

The sleep respiratory troubles (central apnea or CHEYNES-Stokes dyspnea) are frequent after stroke. The association of the sleep respiratory troubles with a reserved functional prognosis is debated. The purpose is to find out the frequency of the sleep respiratory troubles after stroke in a PRM department and to study their relationship with functional and neurological recovery.

Vasoactive Hormones During the Night in Patients With Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Healthy Controls....

HealthyObstructive Sleep Apnea

Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome is complicated by considerable cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, at least partly due to hypertension. Nocturnal hypoxia, hypercapnia and acidosis stimulate chemoreceptors and presumably increased secretion of vasoactive hormones which might be responsible for hypertension in these patients. The aim of this study is to measure the secretion of vasoactive hormones at night and to analyse the relationship between vasoactive hormones, oxygen saturation and the blood pressure at night.

Sleep Apnea in Elderly Male Twins

Lung DiseasesSleep Apnea Syndromes1 more

To conduct a genetic analysis of anatomic risk factors for sleep apnea in a well-characterized United States population-based registry of elderly male twins who have been successfully followed for the past 30 years.

Confounding Factors of Impedance Pneumography

HealthySleep Apnea

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the association of signals recorded and analysed with Ventica® Lung Function Testing System (LFTS) in infants and pre-schoolers during the whole night sleep with the gold standard for sleep recording events, polysomnography, in order to better understand the confounding factors for momentary changes in the impedance pneumography-derived tidal breathing flow-volume (TBFV) curves.

Sleep Apnea : Diagnosis and Monitoring

Obstructive Sleep Apnea

This prospective study aims to evaluate a new medical screening method to detect and discriminate sleep apnea-hypopnea events. A new device called ApneaBand will be tested to propose a new screening method facilitating the diagnosis and monitoring of the sleep apnea syndrom, still underdiagnosed. This device will be tested in comparison with polysomnography (PSG), the gold standard reference method of sleep apnea diagnosis.

The Effect of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Operations on the Swallowing Function

DysphagiaSleep Apnea1 more

The investigators hypothesize that partial robotic tongue base resection surgery and / or soft palate surgery, as a treatment for sleep apnea affect the swallowing quality. In order to characterize the dysphagia The investigators will locate participants undergoing this surgery more than six months ago.The investigators will test their swallowing by fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) and let participants fill out a questionnaire regarding swallowing disorders swallowing dysfunction questionnaire (SDQ). Also the investigators will use data collected from participants who have undergone this surgery and already had these tests due to swallowing complaints.
