Impact of Smoking Cessation on Sleep - 5
Tobacco Use CessationSleep DisordersSmoking is a major health problem with a direct link to elevated heart- and lung-related problems. Nicotine is highly addictive, which makes quitting difficult and relapse after quitting highly probable. Any type of sleep disturbance may make quitting even harder. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of bupropion and nicotine replacement therapies (NRT) on sleep disturbances. In turn, this might show how such medications affect attempts at smoking cessation.
Better Sleep in Psychiatric Care - ADHD Pilot Study
Attention Deficit DisorderSleep Initiation and Maintenance Disorders1 moreComorbidities, including sleep problems, are common in adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Treatment of choice for insomnia is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT-i), but evidence is lacking for CBT-i in patients with ADHD and sleep problems. The purpose of this study was to investigate if patients at a specialist clinic for ADHD benefit from a group delivered CBT-i treatment; whether insomnia severity improves following this treatment. This pragmatic within-group pilot study with a pre to post and three-month follow-up design was set at a specialist psychiatric out-patient clinic for adult ADHD. As an adjunct to care-as-usual at the clinic, a CBT-i-based group treatment targeting sleep problems prevalent in the ADHD-population, designed for patients with executive difficulties, was offered as 10 weekly 90-minute group sessions and scheduled telephone support. All outcome measures were subjectively reported by participants. Data analyzed with dependent t-tests according to intent-to-treat.

The Study of Spectrum of Sleep Disorders in Cirrhotic Patients and the Efficacy of Zolpidem in Cirrhotic...
CirrhosisAll Cirrhosis liver patients (Child A/B/C) presenting to Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences will be screened for sleep disturbance and excessive daytime sleepiness with Epworth sleep score/ Pittsburgh sleep quality index. 52 patients of clinical/ radiological/ biopsy proven cirrhosis (Child A/B) will be enrolled after ruling out possibility of psychiatric illnesses like depression and anxiety with the help of PHQ-9 / GAD-7 questionnares. Patients who are suffering with sleep disturbance as evaluated with Pittsburgh sleep quality index will undergo polysomnography and will be randomised to two groups after fulfilling all inclusion criterias. Patients in group (Group 1) will receive zolpidem 5mg at bed time daily and patients in control group will receive placebo at bed time daily. The treatment will be continued for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks enrolled patients will be reassessed with PSQI and polysomnography. All patients will be advised regarding sleep hygiene.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) in Patients With Mental Illness
InsomniaInsomnia Chronic10 moreInsomnia is common in patients with co-morbid mental illness and sleeping difficulties is a frequent complaint in most psychological disorders. The course is based on cognitive behavioral therapy, a documented treatment for insomnia.
