To evaluate the analgesic effect of benzydamine hydrochloride dripping on the endotracheal tube cuff for postoperative sore throat.

We investigate the potential benefits of ultrasound-driven lidocaine inhalation immediately before induction.

The investigators want to evaluate the efficacy of the dexamethasone and paracetamol for the prevention of postoperative sore throat.

Throat swabbing is an important instrument in the diagnosis of strep pharyngitis and sometimes the main argument for antibiotic treatment. There is no firm knowledge about an appropriate method of the swabbing for receiving maximal sensitivity. We hypothesize that accurate swabbing from the pus will increase the sensitivity of the swabbing as compared to free swabbing. In order to check this hypothesis we will compare two swabs from the same throat. One that will be taken by a physician specifically from the pass and the second will be taken by a nurse as she used to do it. An increase of 10% of positive results will be accepted as a significant advantage.

Antibiotic resistant infections are expected to cause 10 million deaths worldwide by 2050, and exceed cancer deaths. Reducing antibiotic use can reduce resistance levels. Hospitals have now developed Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs that promote better use of antibiotics. However, 80% of antibiotics are prescribed in the community where stewardship programs do not exist. Antibiotics are often prescribed for coughs and colds, where it can be difficult to tell if these are cases of pneumonia or strep throat. Doctors may prescribe antibiotics 'just in case' and patients may request antibiotics hoping to feel better faster. To help family doctors and patients, a team of infectious disease specialists, researchers and community family physicians have collaboratively developed an Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) for use in the community. Testing in 3 family medicine clinics is showing reduced antibiotic use. What is needed is a strategy to 'scale' up this program province wide to reduce antibiotic use enough to reduce resistance levels, but how to do this is not known. Working with a community clinic network, this project will test two implementation strategies to inform how best to implement a Community-Based ASP.

When general anesthesia is performed for surgery, tracheal intubation is performed. In order to ventilate after performing tracheal intubation, air is injected into the cuff attached to the tube to fill the gap between the tracheal tube and the patients's inner surface of trachea. Even though, 20 to 30 cm H2O is known to be the appropriate pressure to prevent air leaks while preventing ischemic damage of tracheal mucosa. So, Researchers want to observe clinical differences in pressure at both ends of the safety zone of the cuff pressure.

This investigation is planned to compare the incidence and severity of postoperative sore throat according to the use of heated breathing circuit in patients undergoing endotracheal intubation for general anesthesia.

GABHS are common etiological agents for acute pharyngitis. However, local data is limited and large scale surveillance studies have not been done. This study aims to evaluate the disease burden in the community due to GABHS. In this study, patients presenting with signs of acute pharyngitis will be evaluated. Patients with fulfilling the inclusion criteria will be tested for Rapid Antigen Detection test (RADT)

This investigation is planned to compare the incidence and severity of postoperative sore throat according to the use of two-handed jaw thrust maneuver in patients undergoing endotracheal intubation for general anesthesia.

The purpose of this study is to determine if the rapid antigen detection test for Group A streptococcal pharyngitis diagnosis might yield higher rates of false positive results in patients who have been treated for GAS pharyngitis within 28 days of the test.
