Does Vibration Therapy Induce Higher Than Normal Bone Strains and Strain Rates Than Those Experienced...

Osteoporosis

The overall aim of this study is to test the hypothesis that vibration exercise can induce higher than normal bone strains and strain rates than are experienced during habitual locomotor activities. The investigators plan to study healthy young volunteers to: Determine the relationship between tibial bone strain and the frequency and amplitude of vibration therapy a range of habitual locomotor activities; Determine the transmission of vibrations during vibration therapy, in terms of amplitude attenuation and phase shift of positional coordinates and accelerations at anatomic landmarks along the lower leg and other skeletal sites the relationship between these and different frequencies and amplitudes of vibration therapy; Determine the muscle power in the lower limb associated with various habitual locomotor activities and its relationship to the measured tibial bone strain. The investigators subsequently hope to use the data captured in this experiment to develop a QCT-based finite element (FE) model of the human lower limb (tibia, fibula and foot). The investigators will then validate this model in relation to the characteristics (amplitude and phase shift) of the measured tibial bone strain and transmission of vibrations to the different anatomical landmarks during vibration therapy.

Breast Milk Expression

The objective of this trial is to evaluate the effect of the consumption of a combination of probiotic strains (Prob-milk) and of a combination of plant extracts plus an inactivated probiotic strain (VoluntasProb) on the production volume and the nutritional composition and the microbiota. of breast milk in lactating women.

Urdu Version of Identification of Functional Ankle Instability Questionnaire

Ankle SprainsInstability1 more

Functional instability should be considered as a potential cause of residual ankle impairment and instability. Even if neuromuscular anomalies are detected, the precise cause of injury and the most efficient prevention strategies remain uncertain. The use of standardized and validated research instruments is strongly advocated. This is due in part to the idea that it allows for international and cross-national comparison of results. Another assumption is that utilizing validated tools increases confidence that they are measuring what they are intended to measure. However, a previously validated tool does not guarantee its applicability in a new period, culture, or setting. The rationale of study is to provide a valid and reliable tool translated into native language of Urdu speaking populations so that self-evaluation of ankle instability can be assessed and re-assessed over the time. The questionnaire is translated into various languages including; French, Japanese, Brazilian, Persian, Thai, Malay, Greek, Chinese, Korean, Turkish and Spanish; whereas, Pakistani Urdu version has not yet studied. The present study fills this literature gap and serves a large proportion of Urdu community around the globe; specially, Pakistan. By measuring the psychometric properties of this scale in Urdu version, quantitatively strengthens up the evidence and patients themselves can report their exact level of disorder by answering a set of questions in their own language.

Bone Resistant Tuberculosis

Bone and Osteoarticular Infection Due to MDR M. Tuberculosis Strains

The recommendations for the treatment of MDR tuberculosis are based on pulmonary tuberculosis since there is a lack of specific recommendations for TB bone and osteoarticular disease, including those due to multi drug resistance strains (MDR IOATB). Given the lack of data regarding MDR IOATB, it may be helpful to study the diagnosis, medical treatment, surgical indications and prognosis of a cohort of MDR IOATB patients.

The Role of Periodic Health Examination in Determining Indirect Muscle Injury Risk in Elite Football...

Muscle InjurySprains and Strains

Preseason periodic health examination (PHE) is used routinely in elite football (soccer) and can be used to inform injury prevention strategies. Indirect muscle injuries (IMI) are a considerable burden to elite teams. This investigation aims to evaluate whether measurements from PHE can be used in a multivariable model to predict IMI risk in elite players, or to establish prognostic factors that are associated with IMIs.

Follow up of Patients After a Visit to Tourcoing Emergency Department for an Ankle Sprain

Ankle Sprains

Ankle sprain is very common. In France, its daily incidence is estimated at 6000. It often causes pain, a temporary period of disability and can results in recurrence and chronic ankle instability. Therefore, an early management and follow up treatment is necessary. Now, functional treatment is clinically the treatment strategy of choice for ankle sprain. It is based on rest, ice, compression, elevation and can use a functional support (like an ankle brace). To evaluate gravity and improve management, a clinical assessment delayed between 4 and 5 days post injury is necessary.

Strain-Encoded Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Dobutamine Stress Testing

Coronary Artery Disease

The purpose of this study is to compare the diagnostic value of SENC to that provided by conventional wall motion analysis for the detection of inducible ischemia during DS-MRI.High-dose dobutamine stress magnetic resonance imaging (DS-MRI) is safe and feasible for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD) in humans. However, the assessment of cine scans relies on the visual interpretation of regional wall motion, which is subjective. Recently, Strain-Encoded MRI (SENC) has been proposed for the direct color-coded visualization of myocardial strain.

Mixed Strain H. Pylori Infection in Patients Who Have Problems With Eradication of H. Pylori

H. Pylori Eradication Failure

The purpose of this study is to determine whether mixed H. pylori strain infection is the reason for eradication failure during treatment of H. pylori infection. The investigators present the results got from extensive sampling of biopsy samples taken from individuals diagnosed with H. pylori connected disease. The investigators were looking for individuals that were not able to eradicate H. pylori although they had susceptibility testing tailored antibiotic therapy. On their control visit after 2 months they presented again with H. pylori although at their first visit they had H. pylori isolated from biopsy sample sensitive to all antibiotics prescribed. Multi Locus Sequence Typing (MLST) was used to prove the sequence type of H. pylori and E test was used to determine susceptibility of H. pylori to antibiotics.

Evaluation of Radial Strain for Assessment of Left Ventricular Function in Transesophageal Echocardiography...

Ventricular FunctionLeft

Assessment of left ventricular function is an essential determinant of overall hemodynamics and heart function and therefore of central interest in intra-operative transesophageal echocardiography. Currently, the most frequently used methods for quantification of left ventricular function are fractional shortening (FS) and fractional area change (FAC). Radial strain is a new parameter to asses left ventricular function. The investigators want to assess left ventricular function with radial strain, fractional shortening (FS) and fractional area change (FAC) in non-cardiac patients during non-cardiac operations. The aim of this study is to show that radial strain is as reliable as FS and FAC in left ventricular function assessment and more robust to changes in preload and afterload conditions.
