Effects of MTRPs Therapy in Migraine.

MigrainePain7 more

Case series, repeated-measures design, pilot study. Adult, female, migraine patients underwent seven Ischemic Compression Myofascial Trigger Points (IC-MTrPs) therapy sessions. The aim of the study is to investigate whether therapy of the shoulder girdle and neck muscles by deactivating MTrPs causes modification of biomechanical and biochemical variables in the blood and reduces headache in people with migraine, improving their quality of life by improving their health. People qualified for the study were divided into 3 groups according to the type of migraine: CM group - patients with chronic migraine EMa group - patients with paroxysmal migraine with aura EMb group - patients with paroxysmal migraine without an aura. All patients underwent 7 interventions in the area of the muscles of the shoulder girdle and neck (by deactivating trigger points) performed every 2 or 3 days. They did not take any headache medications during the treatment period. However, during a migraine attack, they could undergo treatments and research measurements. Biomechanical measurements of the cervical spine, shoulder girdle muscles and blood chemistry were performed before, during and after the patients' therapy. All treatments were performed on the following muscles: m. trapesius pars descendent (trapezius upper), m. sternocleidomastoideus (sternocleidomastoid), m. temporalis (temporal), m. legator scapulae (levator scapula), m. supraspinatus (supraspinatus), m. suboccipitales (suboccipital).

Effects of MET vs Mulligan MWM on Pain, Disability & Balance in Athletes With Ankle Sprain

Chronic Ankle Sprain

Ankle Sprains are the most common injury in Athletes and have a high rate of recurrence, pain, dynamic balance and disability is the leading cause of season break in athletes with chronic ankle sprain so as we see post isometric relaxation and Mulligan MWM are the useful techniques used to minimize pain, improve dynamic balance and to restrain athlete from disability due to chronic ankle sprain. This study will be a randomized clinical trial, non probability convenience sampling technique will be used to collect the data. The sample size of athletes will be taken in this study to find the effect of post isometric relaxation and mulligan mobilization with movement in athletes.

Lactobacillus Reuteri Strain Combination in Children Treated With PPI

Gastric LesionProton Pump Inhibitor Adverse Reaction1 more

Probiotics might be of help in preventing dysbiosis and emergence of SIBO. Gastrus consisted of a mixture of two human strains of L. Reuteri DSM 17938 and ATCC PTA 6475; the first have extensive data supporting its use in gastric infections (18) however, it lacks the anti-inflammatory properties that have been provided by L. Reuteri DSM ATCC PTA 6475 that has excellent acid resistance and has strong anti-inflammatory properties (19); for these reasons, Gastrus is the best candidate for this indication.

Comparative Effects of Copenhagen and Holmich Exercises in Hip Adductor

Groin Strain

Groin pain that relates to the adductor muscle usually represents in the groin region specifically in superior internal thigh. Tears or strains may happen within the muscles itself, tears or strains mainly occurs at musculotendinous junctions or within the tendons. Adductor strain is a familiar but mostly ignored cause of groin injury and pain among athletes. Risk factors include past hip or groin injury, age, weak adductors, muscle fatigue, lessen range of motion, and deficient stretching of the adductor muscle complex.

Mechanisms of Tissue Repair After Muscle Injury and Tendon Strain

Muscle; InjuryQuadriceps (Thigh)1 more

The study is a 5-week human study including 24 18-35 year old healthy men. Each participant will have muscle injury and tendon strain induced in one leg using neuromuscular electrical stimulation in conjunction with forced lengthening contractions. The investigators will monitor the recovery from injury/strain over a 4 week period, in which half of the subjects will receive growth hormone (somatropin) to stimulate the connective tissue synthesis.

Nutritional Strategies After Muscle Strain Injuries

Muscle StrainMultiple Sites

Muscle strain injuries are a particularly frequent type of sports injury in soccer, athletics, badminton/ tennis and cross-fit fitness, thereby affecting a broad range of popular leisure time activities. Depending on severity, sports-active individuals may experience long-term functional impairment and pain. Additionally, individuals having sustained one strain injury have a substantially increased risk of injuring the same muscle again. Strain injuries lead to long-term, potentially permanent, loss of muscle mass, thereby weakening the muscle. Muscle atrophy is likely a major factor in the high re-injury risk. Further, strain injuries are associated with a long-term inflammatory response. In the current study, the investigators seek to study interventions to prevent the loss of muscle mass and elaborate on strategies to address the prolonged inflammation observed at the site of the injured muscle. The primary aim of this study is to investigate the effect of protein supplementation on the reduction of muscle atrophy following a severe muscle strain injury in comparison to a carbohydrate supplement. As a second purpose, this study aims to elaborate on findings of prolonged inflammation intra-/ intermuscular by large-scale protein analysis and the characterization of cells active at the site of injury. The study includes the following hypotheses: Protein supplementation administered in combination with a gradually increasing loading regime (rehabilitation with weekly progression in load/ intensity) will be effective in reducing the injury-related loss of muscle mass. The environment at the site of injury is not only pro-inflammatory, but contains proteins associated with proteolysis. Cells belonging to the group of fibro-adipogenic progenitors will be accumulating intra- and inter-muscularly.

Biomechanics and Intrinsic Foot Muscle Roles in Subjects With Chronic Ankle Instability

Chronic Ankle InstabilityLateral Ankle Sprain

The current study involves a prospective interventional study that primarily intends to compare foot joint loadings of participants with chronic ankle instability (CAI) with those of subjects who recovered after an ankle sprain (LAS copers) and healthy controls during running and more challenging tasks. This study further aims to explore the impact of foot muscle properties and fatigue on the same biomechanical outcomes. Therefore, the investigators will recruit 72 participants (24 per group) aged from 18 to 44 years. Each of them will come only once to the CMAL laboratory (UZ Leuven, Pellenberg).

Assessment of the Safety and Performance of Knee Ligament Supports in the Context of a Return to...

Knee Sprain (Mild)Knee Sprain (Moderate)1 more

Decathlon has developed kneeMID500-STRONG700 products which are two medical devices designed to be used for sport resumption after mild (kneeMID500) or moderate (KneeSTRONG100) knee sprain or after an Anterior Cruciate Ligament surgery. The difference between these devices is based on the strength of compression and the knee maintain. The objective of this multicentre study is to collect data on the related clinical complications and clinical outcomes of market-approved Decathlon kneeMID500-STRONG700 products to demonstrate safety and performance of these devices in a real-world setting.

Computed Tomography With Stress Maneuvers for Evaluation of Distal Tibiofibular Syndesmosis Instability...

Ankle Sprain

The main aim of this study was to investigate which strategy can diagnose more accurately syndesmotic instability among an existing index test (ankle CT in neutral position) and two new add-on index tests (ankle CT in a stress position with extended-knees and ankle CT in a stress position with flexed-knees). This study hypothesized that the two add-on ankle CT with stress maneuvers (CTSM) have a more accurate capability of diagnosing syndesmotic instability than ankle CT in a neutral position (CTNP) alone. The secondary objective is to investigate the participants' disability outcomes by applying the Foot and Ankle Ability Measure questionnaire.
