Concurrent Radiotherapy and/or Cisplatin With or Without Celecoxib in Patients With Primary Oral...

Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

The research and development of novel anti-tumor agents in oral cancer is slow, the investigation of repositioning use of currently available drugs in clinical, such as a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor (Celebrex/Celecoxib) maybe a potential alternative strategy.

The Long Non Coding MALAT1 as a Potential Salivary Diagnostic Biomarker in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma...

Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Objective: is to determine the diagnostic accuracy of lncRNA MALAT1 as a potential salivary biomarker of OSCC as well as assessment of the salivary expression level of miRNA 124 which is targeted by MALAT1. Materials and Methods: Saliva Samples were collected for the quantitative determination of salivary "MALAT1 and mi RNA -124" using quantitative Real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction technique for the two study groups, Group A: 20 patients with a diagnosis suggestive of OSCC and Group B: 20 age-and-sex-matched healthy individuals, as normal controls.

Cetuximab Plus Paclitaxel as First Line for Recurrent and/or Metastatic SCCHN: Real World Data....

Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Head and Neck

Retrospective observational study that aims to collect real world data on the cetuximab plus paclitaxel regimen as first line treatment for recurrent and/or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN). Assignment of a patient to a specific therapeutic strategy has been already decided in the past according to normal routine clinical practice; the decision to prescribe a specific treatment (between January 2012 and December 2018) was clearly dissociated from the decision to include a patient in the present study. The investigators will retrospectively collect the information for 500 patients diagnosed with recurrent and/or metastatic SCCHN treated with a cetuximab plus paclitaxel regimen as first line for unresectable recurrent and/or metastatic disease, starting treatment with the defined cetuximab plus paclitaxel regimen, in 20 hospital members of the "Grupo Español de Tratamiento de Tumores de Cabeza y Cuello (TTCC)", who express consent to participate in the study or have not explicitly withheld consent for use of their data. The information from the patients' medical records will be collected through the online database of the TTCC Group.

Does Cryofixation of Skin Specimens Affect Quality of Subsequent Formalin Fixed Paraffin Embedded...

Basal Cell CarcinomaSquamous Cell Carcinoma

This prospective study of 60 slides of basal and squamous cell carcinomas of the skin aims to determine whether: The process of cryofixation prior to generating formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) H&E sections alters the histology in skin tumor specimens. Which specific histologic parameters are altered between previously cryofixed versus routine FFPE sections. Histologic observations will be recorded by two dermatopathologists and two Mohs surgeons and statistically analyzed.

Human Papillomavirus on Oral Tissue, Saliva and Serum

Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most prevalent infections in the world with several millions of new cases diagnosed yearly. Oral HPV infection may be associated with different diseases of oral cavities including some cases of oropharyngeal cancer. The aim of this report is to detect the presence of HPV DNA in samples of biopsies, oral swabs, saliva and serum of patient with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and controls. We hoped to find there is correlation among the presence of HPV DNA in the several biological materials and if it is possible to use the saliva as screening to HPV DNA detection. The presence of tumor HPV DNA in blood may be of diagnostic and prognostic value.

Combined FDG PET/CT Imaging in Response Evaluation After Radiochemotherapy in Patients With Locally...

Locally Advanced Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Head and Neck Region

To determine if combined [18F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) is performant enough with respect to detecting residual lymph node involvement after chemoradiation in order to omit planned neck dissections in patients with locally advanced potentially operable, N2 and N3 head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Primary study hypothesis: The lower bound of the 95% confidence interval (CI) of the negative predictive value (NPV) of FDG PET/CT to detect residual malignant lymph node involvement at 12 weeks after completing chemoradiation will exceed 85%.

Prospective, Post Marketing Surveillance Study On Erbitux® (Cetuximab) in Patients With Locally...

Head and Neck Cancer

After consultation with the Korean Health Authorities, the two Post-Authorization Safety Studies EMR 62202-509 (NCT01082315) and EMR 62241-508 (NCT01075828) were combined within one study protocol EMR 062202-551. This Post-Marketing Surveillance Study (PMS) EMR 062202-551 is requested by the Korean Health Authorities to continue monitoring of Erbitux and provide further information about safety and toxicity in clinical practice in at least 900 patients during 6 years. All data points from the EMR 62202-509 (NCT01082315) and EMR 62241-508 (NCT01075828) remain unchanged in protocol EMR 062202-551. Therefore, the Sponsor has decided not to separately disclose the EMR 062202-551 study titled "A Korean Post-Marketing Surveillance Study On Erbitux® (Cetuximab) in Patients With Locally Advanced or Recurrent and/or Metastatic Squamous Cell Cancer of the Head and Neck (originally EMR 62241-508) and in Patients With EGFR-expressing, KRAS wild-type Metastatic Colorectal Cancer (originally EMR 62202-509)" on clinicaltrials.gov.
