This study is being conducted to determine if OPTINOSE SUMATRIPTAN delivered nasally (through the nose) using the OPTINOSE SUMATRIPTAN DEVICE can reduce the pain associated with migraine headaches in 30 minutes after use.

This small study is to investigate the efficacy of Acthar in the treatment of chronic migraine in patients who have failed multiple treatments, including Botox (which is defined as having <30% reduction from baseline in the number of headache days per month). Despite the widespread use of anti-seizure medications, there remain a significant number of patient whose migraines are refractory to these agents. The pathophysiology of migraine is such that the neural substances calcitonin G related protein (CGRP), substance P, and neurokinin A are released at the trigeminal nerve endings innervating the large cranial and dura mater blood vessels and this neurotrasmission generates migraine associated pain. Because of this, treatment for migraine can be directed towards down regulating those receptor sites accordingly. Acthar may provide pain relief through this mechanist, as ACTH has been shown to inhibit the release of CGRP and may also provide relief through a negative feedback loop as exogenous ACTH inhibits CRH release and mast cell degranulation.

Abstract Background: There is no universally accepted and effective prophylaxis of migraine headache episodes. Thus the investigators aimed to investigate the effects of Lippia alba (Mill.) N. E. Brown, an herb with many effects on central nervous system, on pain frequency and intensity of migraine patients. Methods: Patients were enrolled in a prospective, phase 2, non-controlled cohort study to orally receive ethanolic extract of L. alba leaves (1-2 drips/kg/day). Headache intensity and frequency of episodes were recorded before and after 30-60 days of treatment. The investigators also studied the chemical composition of its essential oil by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Results: The investigators described for the first time a particular L. alba chemotype with geranial and carvenone as major compounds. With treatment, both frequency and intensity of pain episodes significantly decreased from baseline to first reassessment date. More than 80% of patients experienced a minimum 50% reduction on pain intensity and frequency. No side effects were reported. Conclusions: Treatment with a geranial plus carvenone chemotype of L. alba ethanolic extract is a cheap, widely available, highly effective therapy to reduce both the intensity and the frequency of headache episodes of migraine patients with no side effects. This randomized study is testing 3 different intravenous medications to see which one is best for acute migraine. The three medications are metoclopramide, valproate, and ketorolac.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK) of BMS-927711 during migraine and non-migraine condition.

This is an open label, 6 month cross over study in 50 migraine patients fulfilling International Headache Society Classification criteria for migraine headache with and without aura having 2-6 migraines per month and not over 14 days a month of headaches in the previous 3 months. Baseline Headache Impact Test -6 (HIT-6) will be obtained and 25 patients will administer Treximet as needed for 3 months and then 2 Aleve and 100mg Imitrex taken concomitantly as needed for 3 months. The other 25 patients will administer 2 Aleve and 100mg Imitrex taken concomitantly as needed for 3 months and then Treximet as needed for 3 months. In addition to Revised Patient Perception of Migraine Questionnaire (PPMQ-R)data, a detailed diary will be recorded regarding number of tablets taken per attack, compliance, rescue treatment, when patients treated their migraine attack (mild, moderate, or severe), onset of pain reduction (pain relief and pain free, and 24 hour pain relief and sustained pain free response.

To delineate brain mechanisms that subserve EA in the healthy state and to identify alterations in mechanisms supporting EA in chronic pain and their therapeutic relevance. Individuals with migraine will be examined between episodes in order to assess basal alterations in the efficiency of spatial and temporal filtering of noxious information. This population provides the unique opportunity to examine such processes without confounds arising from ongoing pain.

This research is being done to study the effect of incorporating acupuncture into the management of migraines. The primary aim is to determine in a randomized, controlled study whether individuals experiencing migraines have fewer occurrences and less intense migraines when acupuncture is integrated with nonprescription pharmacological treatment. Nonprescription pharmacological treatment in this study refers to the use of the following over the counter medications: Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Acetaminophen (with or without caffeine). Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and Naproxen are members of a class of drugs known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs.

To provide long term safety data for rizatriptan in children and adolescents. The primary hypothesis of the study is that rizatriptan is well tolerated in the long term treatment of acute migraine in pediatric patients age 12-17 years.
