The primary objective of this study to examine the long-term safety of rabeprazole 5 mg or 10 mg tablets administered once daily in participants who were confirmed to have no recurrence of gastric or duodenal ulcer by endoscopic examination at the end of 24 weeks of treatment in the E3810-J081-308 (NCI01397448) [Double-Blind Phase] study. From a total of 420 participants who completed the E3810-J081-308 study, 328 entered the E3810-J081-309 (NCT01398410) study.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) are often associated with gastric ulcers. This study looks at the prevention of these gastric ulcers, in patients deemed to be at risk, with either esomeprazole 40 mg once daily; esomeprazole 20 mg once daily.

A new Magnetic-controlled Capsule Endoscopy (MCE) was developed by ANKON and got SFDA's approval in China in 2013. It has recently been evaluated to compare the diagnostic accuracy of MCE with that of standard gastroscopy for gastric diseases in 70 patients with encouraging results (In Press). To further testify the diagnostic accuracy of MCE for both the diffuse and focal diseases in stomach, we performed this single-blinded multi-center prospective study compared MCE with gastroscopy in patients with gastric symptoms and indication for upper GI Endoscopy.

The eradication rate of the standard H. pylori eradication therapy (such as the triple therapy with a proton pump inhibitor [PPI], amoxicillin and clarithromycin) depends on bacterial susceptibility to clarithromycin and genotypes of CYP2C19 in patients. The investigators intend to investigate whether the tailored therapy based on the two above-mentioned factors increases the cure rate of the initial eradication therapy.
