Evaluation of Clinical and Radiological Success of Vital Amputation Treatment
Endodontic InflammationPulp Disease1 moreTotal amputation therapy; is a treatment method aimed at maintaining the vitality of the radicular pulp remaining as a result of complete removal of coronal pulp tissue. In cases where pulp is exposed due to caries or trauma, the pulp is vital, bleeding can be controlled during the procedure, no periapical pathology is seen and radicular pulp is healthy. Traditionally, acute pulp pain is thought to be a symptom of irreversible pulpitis, and it is thought that there is little chance of the pulp returning to its normal situation after removal of the irritants. Root canal treatment has been accepted as the gold standard for the treatment of these symptoms. In recent studies, spontaneous or severe pain before procedure has not always indicated that pulp has no repair capacity, and deep carious lesions are not necessarily associated with irreversible pulpal pathology. Histological studies showed that even when caries reach the pulp or degeneration and inflammation were seen in it, there was a healthy section still present in the pulp. Therefore, it is stated that the healthy pulp remaining as a result of total amputation performed by removal of degenerated pulp can be preserved. Furthermore, it is stated that for the healing potential of the remaining pulp tissue, the original signal should be that the bleeding can be controlled after the amputation of the infected pulp tissue. While the most popular method in the treatment of vital pulp is CaOH, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry has been reported to be more resistant to dissolution in the protocol in recent years. MTA is a more suitable material because it is more homogeneous, and forms a thicker dentin bridge. However, the MTA requires a long time to harden, it is difficult to manipulate and color. In recent years, researchers have focused on creating new MTA formulations to improve their physicochemical properties without affecting their biocompatibility and bioactivity. NeoMTA Plus is a new fine powder tricalcium silicate. It consists of a water-based gel and powder mixture and the powder-gel mixing ratio may vary depending on the area of use. It is a material similar to MTA Plus. However, in order to avoid tooth discoloration, tantalium oxide used instead of the bismuth oxide and required calcium hydroxide used to induce the formation of mineralized tissue.
Periapical Bone Healing After Apicectomy With and Without Retrograde Root Filling
Stomatognathic DiseaseMouth Disease2 morePh.D project: Periapical bone healing after apicectomy with and without retrograde root filling. The aim of this study is to assess periapical bone healing after apicectomy without a filling and apicectomy combined with a retrograde filling material, MTA. Further, we will estimate risk factors in non-healing cases. Study hypothesis: There is no difference in treatment outcome between: Periapical bone healing after apicectomy with retrograde root filling and Periapical bone healing after apicectomy without retrograde root filling

Effects of Daily Nitrate Consumption on Oral Bacteria Composition, Blood Pressure and Vascular Function...
No Dental DiseaseNon-smokingDiseases of the heart and blood vessels, including raised blood pressure, are one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Higher intakes of dietary nitrate, found abundantly in root vegetables such as beetroot, have been shown to have health benefits including lowering blood pressure and improving the elasticity of blood vessels. Bacteria which reside in the mouth and those in the gastrointestinal tract play an important role in converting dietary nitrate to nitrite and nitric oxide (a chemical which promotes the relaxation of blood vessels). In particular, removal of oral bacteria by using antiseptic mouthwash is accompanied by an increase in blood pressure in subjects with normal blood pressure, even after consuming nitrate-rich foods. To date, very little is known about the role of these oral bacteria in the control of blood pressure, and if there are any differences in bacterial composition between individuals.

Dental DiseasesAntiplatelet Agents1 moreThis is a prospective randomized open-label blinded endpoint (PROBE) The study will be conducted in Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai hospital. The patients with dual-antipletlet who need dental procedure between Febuary 2017 until Febuary 2018 will be included in the study. Baseline characteristics of the enrolled patients including bleeding complication will be collected in each patient. To compare rate of significant bleeding from dental procedure between patient who need two antiplatelet and who stop P2Y12 inhibitors before procedure.
Examination of the Distribution of Nitrate Reducing Bacteria in the Human Oral Cavity
No Dental DiseaseNon-smokingDietary nitrate have been shown to have health benefits including lowering blood pressure (Hobbs et al, 2012), improving endothelial function and inhibiting platelet aggregation in healthy humans (Lidder & Webb, 2013). The main sources of dietary nitrate in the human diet are vegetables such as beetroot. Nitrates are converted to nitrites then nitric oxide (NO), following their reduction by commensal oral bacteria and those residing in the gastrointestinal tract (Hord, Tang, & Bryan, 2009; Lidder & Webb, 2013). A recent study has shown following elimination of oral bacteria by the use of a chlorhexidine based antiseptic mouthwash, the conversion of nitrate to nitrite is prevented and this is accompanied by a statistically significant increase in blood pressure in normotensive subjects (Kapil et al., 2013). To date, very few studies have investigated the potential role of these oral bacteria in control of blood pressure and if there are any inter and intra-individual differences in bacterial composition.
Oral Epithelial Dysplasia Informational Needs Questionnaire
Oral Epithelial DysplasiaPrecancerous Conditions24 moreBackground: Oral epithelial dysplasia (OED) is a condition with an increased risk of oral cancer. Due to the current changes in the factors associated with these diseases (because of human papillomavirus), it is expected that those who have no history of smoking or alcohol, young (<50 years old), and white male would be commonly affected. Those individuals require a higher need for information, preferred a more active role in decision-making, and have a longer lifespan than older individuals. There remain no detailed studies of whether the informational needs delivered to patients with OED met their needs or indeed what information such patient may wish. A few tools are available to evaluate the IN of patients with head and neck disorders. However, the items of these instruments were dedicated to a particular disease (e.g. cancer) and hence are not applicable to be used for OED. Project aims: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Oral Epithelial Dysplasia Informational Needs Questionnaire (ODIN-Q), developed and revised in the preliminary work for the proposed study, in a cohort of patients with OED. Timescale: 19 months. Clinical significance: This questionnaire can be useful in clinical practice. It could help to meet the patient's information needs and plan educational interventions for those showing unmet needs.
Salivary Cytokine Profile as a Biomarker for Dental Pain
Cerebral PalsyDental Diseasesalways reliable.Pain is an important diagnostic tool in dentistry. The type of treatment, extent of treatment and, sometimes, even the decision on whether to treat or not is dependent on the pain history obtained from the patient. The absence of an accurate description of dental pain is a factor that severely limits dental treatment planning in children with CP. The aim of this study is to study to evaluate the salivary cytokine profile of children with CP who have severe dental problems and to compare this to verbal children who have a similar dental profile.
