An Advanced Digital Phenotype System Among People Suffering From Post-traumatic Stress Disorder...

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

Psychiatric diagnosis is based mainly on questioning the patient and subjective impression rather than a quantitative assessment. The assessment is usually done with long time intervals between assessments and arbitrary in relation to the clinical course of the disorder. Post-traumatic stress disorder has physiological, physical, and behavioral manifestations. These changes appear as a response to different situations during the day and can be measured directly and indirectly in order to obtain an objective, quantitative and fuller picture of the severity and changes in the disorder. This is a non-interventional pilot study, using a system that collects data through wearable sensors and smartphone over a long period of time for patients suffering from PTSD and enables data analysis and characterization of a personal digital phenotype using a dedicated algorithm. Based on this pattern, the investigators will attempt to support the establishment of the PTSD diagnosis. During the course of the study, the therapeutic procedure will not be affected by the study and will be independent of the research.

Hypertension and Diabetes Assessment in the Rohingya Refugee Population and in the Host Communities...

HypertensionDiabetes Mellitus2 more

Due to a massive outbreak of violence against the Rohingya minority residing in the Rakhine State of Myanmar in late 2017, several hundred thousand Rohingya fled the country and sought a shelter in Bangladesh. Currently, in the refugee settlement areas east of the city of Cox's Bazar, close to 1 million Rohingya refugees live in refugee camps close to the municipalities of Ukhia and Shamlapur. According to previous examinations, there is a serious burden of non-communicable diseases in Bangladesh. But little is known about the health status and the epidemiology of non-communicable diseases in the Rohingya refugee population in Bangladesh. Most importantly, scientific evidence on non-communicable disease in humanitarian emergencies is rather limited. The aim of this study is to close this gap and to systematically assess the burden of hypertension and diabetes within the Rohingya refugee population in refugee camps in Bangladesh and in the host community in the Chittagong province. This assessment will help to design and to introduce community-based intervention strategies aiming to improve the population health status and reduce the disease burden.

Test and Evaluation of Non-Invasive Neuro-Assessment Devices (NINAD: Neurokinetics, Inc, iPAS

Traumatic Brain InjuryPost Traumatic Stress Disorder

The long term goal for the Traumatic Injury Research Program (TIRP) is testing of novel devices for the identification and longitudinal assessment of traumatic brain injury (TBI). DoD (United States Department of Defense) has now tasked TIRP with the test and evaluation of these devices to assess reliability and validity. The objective of this effort is to test the reliability of the NKI, Inc, (NeuroKinetics, Inc) i-PAS device using a test/re-test protocol with healthy controls. The research design is test/re-test, with three assessments obtained on three separate visits. This will allow the assessment of reliability of both the device and the measure(s) that are computed from the input signals. Participants will be Healthy Controls (HC) as defined in the inclusion exclusion section. In this initial study, investigators will be administering standardized self-report instruments (Standard Form 36 - SF36, and Symptom Checklist 90r, or SCL-90r), standard three-lead EKG. In addition they will administer the NKI i-PAS specific protocol as delineated by NKI.

Probabilistic Risk Modeling for Disorder Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) After the Attacks in Paris...

Stress DisordersPost-Traumatic

The scientific approach of this project proposes to build a cohort of "psychological injuries" post-attack of 13 November 2015. This is called patients "involved", ie patients who directly witnessed the events and having the most either came under automatic gunfire or were close to an explosion, whether or not physically injured. The main objective is to define and validate a model of transition from acute stress disorder (ASD) to posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for better detection of the risk of unfavorable and thus better patient supported. The first step is to determine independent risk factors found in analytic prospective cohort study. Bayesian models are well suited to exercise because they can integrate (i) the context related to the patient, (ii) the context related to the trauma itself, and (iii) the immediate reactions and long-term to the latter . They are particularly suited to understanding the brain disordered by saying down information (prior probability) wrong by improper memory of the traumatic event. The confrontation of these descending information and perceived bottom-information could be partly responsible for the symptoms of PTSD. Once validated, the model will characterize the individual level the most at risk of unfavorable patients (calculating a probability of developing PTSD) and to assess the epidemiological impact on long-term cohort of event considered. These determinations are necessary prerequisites to optimize the means of support for these current and future casualties. The investigators main objective is to define a Bayesian model describing a resilient functioning facing a trauma which also allows to describe a possible evolution of the ASD to PTSD by an error. The state of PTSD or not will be determined by the PCL-S scale.

Role of the Stress in the Development of the Metabolic Syndrome

Anxiety DisordersDepressive Disorders2 more

The purpose of this study is determine the incidence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in people of high risk, of 40 or more years and attended in the Primary Care. Evaluating the association between anxiety, depression, quality of life and the vital stressful events, and the development of the metabolic syndrome in general population. Our hypothesis is that population of the cohort with bigger degree of stress will develop earlier the metabolic syndrome. If our hypothesis about the metabolic syndrome are demonstrated, it would allow establishing in a future interventions on these factors of risk to prevent or to decrease the incidence of this syndrome in the Primary Care.

İntraoperative Awareness Under General Anesthesia

To Investigate the Incidence and Causes of Awareness During General AnesthesiaTo Investigate the of Dreaming During Anesthesia4 more

Intraoperative awareness which means the recall of experiences recorded in patients' memories during general anesthesia in the postoperative period is an important issue in anesthesia practice. The aims of this study are to investigate the incidence and causes of awareness during general anesthesia, incidence of dreaming during anesthesia, intra-operative experiences of patients who report awareness, the risk factors that may be associated with awareness, to analyze the frequency of posttraumatic stress disorder in cases with awareness and possible awareness, the risk factors that may be associated with PTSD in Turkish adults. Adult patients will be evaluated 4 time following emergence (a) One hour after emergence, (b) Twenty four hour after emergence (c) One week after emergence (d) One month after emergence. The first interview will be made face-to-face in the recovery unit, and other interviews will be made by phone. Each interview will be conducted using the same structured interview (Brice Interview). Descriptive statistics will be used to determine the incidence of awareness. χ2 test will be used for comparison between groups. Logistic regression will be used to determine the risk factors associated with awareness and PTSD. We believe that this study will contribute to the prevention of the problem by determining the real frequency and causes of intraoperative awareness under general anesthesia, determining the experiences and results of patients, and analyzing the associated risk factors.
