To evaluate 1) the extent of patient overestimation of breast cancer development risk in subjects referred to a physician-based high-risk breast clinic; 2) the ability of physician counseling to improve patient risk perception and reduce psychological distress; 3) to identify factors relevant in clinical practice associated with increased distress and risk perception.

A convenient sample of internal medicine residents will be observed during their nightshift work in the wards of the department of internal medicine of a university hospital. The epidemiology of night calls and emergencies, including incidence, causes, management, and prognosis, will be assessed prospectively. The impact of nightshift work on sleep, stress, quality of life, regrets, and general well being of the residents observed will be measured through completion of validated questionnaires. Quality of handoff sessions will also be assessed.

Background. The current coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has a great impact worldwide. Healthcare workers play an essential role and are one of the most exposed groups.Information about the psychosocial impact on healthcare workers is limited. Methods. 3109 healthcare workers completed a national, internet-based, cross-sectional 45-item survey between 9 and 19 April 2020. The objective is to assess the psychological impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spanish healthcare workers. A Psychological Stress and Adaptation at work Score (PSAS) was defined combining four modified versions of validated psychological assessment tests (A) Healthcare Stressful Test, (B) Coping Strategies Inventory,(C) Font-Roja Questionnaire and (D) Trait Meta-Mood Scale.

The pandemic we live through has put various sectors of the medical system and its tributaries to the test. The accumulation of external and internal stress has been completely correlated with the predisposition to psycho-emotional problems and, in turn, to drug use as an immature response for ego protection. That is why the economic, social, and psychological evaluation can help understand the current situation about drug abuse and how to help patients afflicted by it. The aim of the current research is to characterize the complex interaction between stress and cognitive workload. Furthermore, the investigators aim to create a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) inspired Electroencephalogram (EEG) brain-based bio-marker for cognitive load under stress. Secondary project 1 aim: The aim of this study is to characterize the link between sensorimotor network (SMN) within and between functional connectivity following the stress response and its association with physiological indices and self-report measures. Secondary project 2 aim: To elucidate temporal alterations of topological patterns (i.e., integration and segregation), the investigators seek to examine resting state fMRI data before and after a cognitive load task and an acute stress induction.

The purpose of this study is to determine if stopping the stress induced increase in inflammation will prevent sodium retention which in turn increases blood pressure. Each subject will test two separate times. One week, they will be taking a daily dose of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF), the other week they will be taking a placebo.

The purpose of this study is to determine how difficult life-events that women experienced during their childhood might affect their babies. Women who are asked to participate in this study will fill out forms about their physical and mental health, have 3D ultrasounds of their baby's adrenal gland, have their stress responses measured and have their baby's development and stress responses assessed.

Vulnerability to psychologic distress induced by in situ simulation. Objectives: Psychological evaluation at short and long term on working satisfaction, mental health, and acute stress after in situ simulation. Analysis of the stress vulnerability induced by simulation. Design: non interventional study. Primary outcome: Psychologic distress analysis with validated psychologic distress inventory (Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS), General Health Quality (GHQ), Impact of Event Scale Revisited (IESR), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory-A (STAI-A), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory -B (STAI-B)).

This study takes place in rural Mam-Mayan communities of Guatemala characterized by high rates of childhood stunting. It aims to characterize women's exposure to nutrition, infection and psychosocial stressors vs. resilience factors, to evaluate the cumulative impact of maternal-level factors (nutritional, infectious, psychosocial), social factors (autonomy, social support, domestic violence), and household factors (socioeconomic status, food security) on early infant growth, and to evaluate whether maternal cortisol may be a mediator in the vertical transmission of stress.
